zoila diary

Hey Zoila! I know what you mean about the diet soda thing. I love them too. I could drink them all day. I have been better, and cut down to about three a day, sometimes four. When I started drinking more water, I natrually started drinking less soda. I dont know if I could completely give them up. They are kinda like my coffee, since I dont drink that. Good luck giving them up. I am sure you can do it!! :)

17 dollars a week does sound like a lot. The site I use to count calories is called Fitday.com. Its free, and the list of foods it has is pretty extensive. You can also use it to keep track of how many calories you are burning each day, and your exercise routine. It is a nice site.

Sorry about your son running off like that. Dont you wish we could get into the heads of our kids? What are they thinking half the time? I doubt there is a mom alive that hasn't had a similiar experience though, so take comfort in that. Kids will do the oddest things sometimes. The other week a friend and I met at the playground with our kids. Her son, for whatever reason stuck his head between some bars on the stair rail of the playground equipment. He was stuck! Could not get his head out. I thought we were going to have to call the fire department (can you imagine??). But luckily we freed his head. His mother was like "What were you thinking??" Of course, he didn't know. Sheeesh....kids. Mine have done crazy crazy stuff as well! All part of the Mom job!

Keep up the great work!! Let me know how giving up the sodas works out. Maybe you could give me some tips. :)

Hi, Zoila,

Just wanted to stop by here to see how things are going with you. I think you can totally do it without Weight Watchers, and instead of their meetings you can weigh in and report things to us! :)

Hope things are going well!

Zoila, I have to tell you it seems like you've just had an absolutly CRAZY week or so!!! I understand to some degree about your son running off on you. My neice is 3, and she's JUST like my brother...totally hyper, he's over 30 and he's still like that. Anyway, we went on our trip to the States and every time we switched planes, we had to put her "leash" on her. I swear that they are the best...if the kid will let you put it on them. (You know those kid leashes...people look at you funny, but I tell ya, you don't loose them!) Water heaters are a pain too when they go out... it's so nice though that you're in summer. When I was there, I lived in a real variety of area's, in Fairfeild and Mount Druitt they didn't have aircon's any where, but when I was in Orange and Canton Beach we had them, I guess it just depends on the area, and that was all in NSW!! It's nice that your friend let you guys come over and shower there...good friends are priceless!!! You've had a heap load of trials...keep strong...you'll get over all of them one at a time...and hey if you fall off the wagon from time to time, as long as you get back on as soon as you can, it's all good!!!
Good luck!!!

Thanks Nothing to lose, Thanks Aussiegirl, it was good to here from you. You know I use to have one of those child leashes for my daughter when she was first starting to walk, but people use to look at me like I was a child murder or somthing it was really horriable, some people can be so judgemental and not stop and see your only trying to protect your child. The one I had for her was just a little velcro strap around her wrist and then one on mine. Dont know why it was such a big deal. To be honest I never considered using it with Eli. Usaly when I go shopping its with him and my daughter, she is nearly 5 now so she is as good as gold and Eli is normaly in the trolley. My Daughter just started school full time so it was really our first trip out just us and I over estimated his ability to stay put. When I say to my daughter stay there she does, it never accured to me that he would be different but I have well and truely learnt my lesson. He is going back in the trolley or I will have to fish that lead out, no matter what anyone esle thinks.
It has been a crazy couple of weeks and tiring couple of week as we are trying to get our place ready to sell. And to be honest I have fallen of the wagon this weekend, with take away. But I plann to start a fresh tommorow, so heres hopeing for a great week of staying focused.

Hi, Zoila,
Sounds like you're doing great considering all this stuff that you had to deal with recently. Just count this weekend as your cheat day, and do well this week. Many people recommend having cheatdays during your diet, like once a week. I don't plan for them, but mine come out once or twice a week.
There are days when you just NEED take out, and some feel good food , you know? And that's ok, because dieting all the time is unrealistic expectation. :)

Hope you have a great day!

You're moving!!! Did you know that moving is on the top 10 list of most stressful things to do in life? I reckon when you have kids that's doubled! Take little steps at a time especially during these stressful times, just staying where you are is a good goal sometimes. I noticed that your last entry was early this week. Hopefully all's going well for you!!!;)

Hi, Zoila,

Hope moving and house prepping are going well for you. You're probably too busy for this forum now, but don't forget us and stop by!

Thanks guys for your post. Its not been a mater of being to busy I am afraid (though I do have a lot to do) but more the fact that I have been really bad lately and fallen off the wagon big time. Its funny you dont realise how long you have been gone until the damage is done. I felt guilty so kind of avoided this place a bit, then got curious to see how all you lovely people were doing and poped my head in and I am glad I did as you are all so inspireing. I should of come here from the get go, as it pulls you back on track. I had totaly forgoten that its one day at a time, so I am hoping to start afresh. I have had such a hard time motivating my self with out the weekly weigh ins I am hopeless. I have some money put a side for some bills, and am contemplating being realy bad and using it to try the cohens diet. Problem is there is no way My hubby will let me do it so I would have to do it on the sly. I feel realy bad and thats why havent done it yet, but I am starting to feel really worried as I cant control myself with out the help and I am scared where I will end up. I can understand why he wouldnt let me do it, but I feel like I need to as it my be my best chance. I am a bit conflicted over it at the moment. I know all about the diet and know how strict it is, but it also has quite big results faster. And when your my size you kind of need that as it takes a lot of weight before you notice it. and it can be easy to give up when your doing it half a kilo at a time. Any way thats just where my head is at, at the moment. Lets see how I feel tomorow. I will make a decision then for sure I've decided.

Zoila,

first of all, its ok to fall off the wagon, you just need to get back on! I'm glad you're back, because now we can give you support you need!

secondly, you don't need expensive diets and starvation plans. You need to buy a good scale and have access to internet, and that's it! Secondly, you can design your own diet plan - the one you can live with! You can eat small portions, almost never be hungry and loose weight at the same time!
Yes, the results will be a bit slow, but guess what - you need to accept that slow steady weight loss is the ONLY way to loose weight and keep it off! We are all doing it, and we are all frustrated at times at how slow things are moving, but that is all part of the long process. You did not put your weight on in a month or two, and you can't loose it that fast either, and that's ok, because slow steady change is better for you! Pick small goals - like 5 lbs (2.5 kilos) or 10 lbs (5 kilos) and you will see that it is easy to achieve those. And once you get on a steady loss, you'll be completely motivated!

Did you open account with fitday.com yet? It makes it easy (and free) to track your calories!

You can totally do it without joining any strict regiments and without giving up your life or even your favorite foods! I believe in you! :)

It's so good to see you back!! You're taking small steps...that's the only way to go! NothinToLose is ABSOLUTLY right!! It takes time to put on, and thus time to take off. You know what I would find the total worse if you took that money and your Hubby didn't know. Ok, say you did lose ALL the weight you feel you need, that's great, EXCEPT that the truth of these types of diet's is that shortly you'd gain it back. What would you be left with then? The added weight, and a lighter wallet!:( If you decide you HAVE to try this diet, give Fitday.com a go first, see what you can achieve without the expensive diets, and try to make the decision when you don't feel quite so exasperated. Don't make a decision based on emotions.;) Keep going strong!! Good luck Hon!!!

New plan

Thanks guys, great advice all round. And thankyou nothingtolose, for keeping your eye on me, I need your nudges, well I am going to do my best to write in here more often. My weightloss buddie has sugested once a day so I am going to give it ago.
Well you are right about taking the money and not telling my husband. I am bad for doing that but Its like you said I was quite exsasabated (sp) at the time. I am feeling a lot more hopeful at the moment. Now I know it takes time to gain the weight in my case 9mths of pregnancy, but I just want to get the first 10kg off intitialy quite quickly as its cause a great amount of problems for me. The back pain I am getting is really bad at the moment that I am in agony after standing to do the dishes for 10mins. I know its the last 10kg I put on thats placing the pressure. and I know I also need to go back to the chiropractor as I think I have place it out again similar to whenI was pregnant. Any way loseing at least 10 to start with will free me up to get back into exerciseing which is just impossiable at the moment.
Ok so me and some mums from my daughters school have decided that we all need to lose some weight, so starting monday we are starting our own little weight loss group. We are going to do this new shake replacement diet that has started over here. Its replace two meals (usaly breakfast and lunch) then have a dinner, which are foods from his aproved list. I am usaly iffy about shake replacement but when I looked into this one it sounded pretty good. The guy is a pharmisist and designed it him self and is haveing a good sucess rate. Its meant to differ from others as its designed to get the body to go straight to the fat stores rather then eat lean muscle, (as a lot of them do) It also says when you stop doing it and follow a normal diet you dont gain the weight back as you never lost any lean muscle there for it didnt effect your metablisim. Anyway figured I would give it ago, With my friends support and this place I feel pretty confident. The good thing is you can buy it from shake to shake lol, and there only $2 a pop, so Its not going to cost me a lot of money to outlay, you can also do it where you join the group and have doctors and pharmasist weighing you and supporting you if you want and it only cost (get this) $15 once of for life. I think thats pretty good. So I cant see why its not worth giving a go, especialy as it will help me get that first bit of weight off then I can switch over to a normal diet which they sugest the heart foundation one. It will actualy be more convient for me as I never have time for breakfast and lunch, this way its simple. And they say its filling plus they get you to take a spoon of fibre with it as they say it helps make you feel full for longer.

Ok so wow this is a long entry. So I have a plan and I am happy, I feel hopefull for the first time in weeks. Thanks for all your support will try and post everyday.

Hi, Zoila,

It sounds like you should give this diet a try. It does not sound too expensive, $2 shake is pretty reasonable. If it works as they claim, burning only fat and not muscle, then it would be great, however, I don't think that they can really guarantee it. I think it is worth a try, however, the MINUTE you think that this diet is too hard to sustain to loose 10 kg, consider switching to the regular reduced-calorie diet immediately. See how your body feels. If you're satisfied on shakes and don't feel the cravings for other foods, that's great, but if you're fighting with yourself all the time - that is a loosing battle and you will need to change your plan. Go into it positive, but realize that shake replacement may or may not be for you, so if it is not for you - don't beat yourself up, just switch to other plan immediately, so you don't make yourself binge. How many calories is each shake? That's somehting to find out. How big of a meal are you allowed to eat for your one meal?

If it works for you and you're able to stick with it, it would be awesome! Good luck and all the best! Please let us know in your diery how you're doing!

Hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Zoila!! Nice to have you back!! I know exactly what you mean about feeling frustrated that things are not happening fast enough. Waiting for the weight to come off can be soooo hard.....but hopefully everyone is right....taking it off slowly gives us a better chance of keeping it off for forever! :)

I hope you find success with your new shake plan. I never really tried on in earnest before. What happens though when you decide to not drink the shakes anymore?? Will it be hard you think??

Glad your back....no more leaving! Believe me, we all fall off the wagon every now and then! Keep up the great work Zoila! :)

Hi Zoila!
I'm heaps thrilled for you that you feel better and have a plan in place!!! :) Good for you!! I'll tell you, I'm one of those people who wake up 10 minutes before I have to leave the house, so as you can imagine, I don't have time to eat breakfast. Instead what I do, is the night before I set a shake up and all I have to do is stir it in the AM and drink as I drive away. I find this really works for me, so especially with your kids and feeling like you don't have time for breakfast AND lunch, having the shakes are definatly better than going without all day!!!;) Good luck with it!!

Hi guys, thanks for your posts, yeah this diet is definitly worth a go. We are all going down monday morning together, cause there is only one shop that sells it which is a little bit of a drive, so we are going in one car lol. So I will know for sure then how many cals in each shake, I know the evening meal consists of a peice of protein (grilled chicken/red meat or eggs) the size of your palm they say, and 3 cups of vegies, two peices of fruit are also to be eaten during the day as well as 2lts of water. fluff, I dont think it will be to hard to come off it because they wean you off it, like alternating (at the end of your diet) between a shake for lunch and then the next day a meal until you are back on three meals. But they also have a maintence plan because they say some people just find the convience of the shakes for meals too good, so they keep using them. Any way its worth a try and if it gets to hard I will take your advice nothingtolose and switch straight to the other plann.
Well today I am off to make a payment on my layby which is an exercise bike, am excited about that. I couldn't get the money together to hire a treadmill, as it was going to cost $400 to hire one for 3mths. But then Target had a big sale on equipment, and had a exercise bike for $199, so I ran down and layby it. hopefully will get it off after a month so and very happy about that. :D

Zoila, congratulation on the bike! That's awesome! When are you able to get it? I hope you will be able to use it soon. Start very slow, on slow speed and resistance level, so you don't injure yourself and don't discaurage yourself. I'm so excited for you!

Dinner sounds reasonable. Be careful what sauces you use. Some sauces/dressings are very high in calories. I've been surprized many times when I looked at the bottle label.

I kind of agree with Fluff - when you "wean" off the shake, and you will have to substitute a shake with a meal, you will have to find the solution to the same problem you have now - how to achieve meal on the run, so that you eat well and don't overeat later. This is something to think about for the future.

Hope you have a good weekend, and let us know how you're feeling on a diet.

Haha my first day, gee what a drama today as been, lol long story here. Well today me and my friends were going to drop the kids off have quick coffee and drive down to this place that sells the stuff in one car as its a bit of a drive. Of course my husband set the alarm clock last night did not check the thing before hand and left it set for the weekend time. So 9am it goes off and he goes ohoh. I sat up and realised what time it was panic set in.
Abi school starts at 8.30am so we are already half an hour late. but more then the school I realise this means I miss out on going with the others. I got a bit upset and then though, hey they were going for coffee first maybe I can still catch them. Well I got my daughter ready in lighting speed, threw her breakfast on the way out the door lol, poor thing was still chewing when I droped her off. I parked in the teachers car park which is a big no no. but it was right out side the class room and our car park is a 10min walk lol. Then I race down to the spot where we have coffee. And of course they are no where to been seen. stoped and got petrol feeling very sorry for my self, started feeling a bit defeated, then thought stuff it, I'm going to drive down there my self I am not going miss out on starting this diet. So I had to go home first cause I had the address on my computer, I get home try to turn my computer on and it wont work. now at this stage I am getting a little upset, scream at my husband to fix the computer, then occurrs to me to get the old yellow pages out, find the phone number called them up and got there address that way and jumped in the car. Was about half way there and noticed the car is starting to overheat(been playing up lately). Now I am determined to make it there. So I turn off the air con (very hot today) and pray like mad cause I know if I break down on the hwy I'm stuffed cause my mobile is flat, lol. Its one of those days. I made it though. YAH! I get there and its a big shoping centre spend about 10mins looking for it and I decided to stop in the middle and try and figure out where I am lol. All of a sudden I hear people calling my name and there are my friends who I thought would of been long gone. Sititng in a restaraunt having breakfast. They anounce they are haveing a final breakfast before starting and I am so happy to have found them I just laughed.
So we went down to the place together, turns out you have to join the club to be able to buy the shakes lol, didnt say that in the add. Luckly its ony once off $15 and I get weighed and messured and supported for that, so I didnt mind. I found them very helpful and they worked out because of my high BMI that I had to go on a slightly different plann. I have to have one shake in the morning, the a meal of protein and veg at lunch, another shake at afternoon tea, then a dinner. I said, wont it be slower eating extra food. but she said it will be slower if I dont, because I have a high body weight if I dont eat enough protein, then I will end up burning lean muscle instead of fat, so this way that doesnt happen. So I feel good that they know there stuff. Pluss they give you tablets to take the sugar craving away. THATS HUGE my bigest problem, is the sugar cravings. I mean some times I sit there and I feel like I will lituraly scratch the walls out with my nails if I dont get something sweet. Man if the tablets work I will be stoked, the rest will be easy.
Anyway after that we went shoping lol. Had a great afternoon, then went home and took some more measurments of our own that we wanted to know lol. and are very excited for how this week will go. Well thats my day in a nut shell, long but true, but after all the dramas I still know I can do it.
