zoila diary

Thanks guys for all your messages. Nothing to lose that was really good advice and I think I am going to take it. I have been trying to hard to get rid of foods I want all together and not lasting long enough in my resolve. It would be beter to cut down the portion sizes to start with for sure.
Well I am excited. Today while droping my daughter off at school one of the other mums, was off in a hurry I asked where she was going and she said water arobics, they do it just up the street, mon, wed, friday. So to cut a long story short I have arrange to go with her. So happy cause not only have I some exercise happening I have a work out buddy, she also said they do a circuit training there and you dont have to be a member you can do it as a casual. So going to check that out as well.

Zoila, I also LOVED the story about your daugher, I can totally see it with a 5 year old!:D I just have to tell you, water arobics are JUST fabulous...I HATE regular arobics, but water arobics are TOTALLY the way to go, espeically when you live in a place like Australia, even though you're coming into winter, it's still an awsome idea. I did them last summer here in Canada, but let me tell you, by the time fall came, there was NO WAY you'd get me outside with wet hair in our weather. Plus if you can do that OR circut training...you've got the best of both worlds! Have fun with it both!! Hopefully you'll love it too!!

Thanks Aussiegirl, our summer has come really late this year so winter is still quite a way off yet. Dec, Jan, and Feb are usaly our hottest months, finaly cooling off in April with Winter hiting late May/june. this Year has been really strange weather wise, December was not hot at all which is just un heard of, we are used to 40degree christmas day, this year it was low 30s coolest one we have had for ages. But right now its heated up and I think it will last for longer. So water arobics will be a safe bet for a while yet.
Today hasnt been that great for me, I am really sick at the moment and my diet has been the last thing on my mind. cant make my self eat regularly or much at all which I am sure will work out fine in the end. Anyway I'm off to bed for an early night to rest my aching head.

Take care of yourself, feel better soon!! It's been -40 here, so I've been telling myself that summer is RIGHT around the corner...even though like you said it's still months away, but I've tricked myself into believing it! :D

You know guys I could not imagine ever being anywhere that cold. It kind of blows my mind away. I have never seen snow up and close only on the TV. Haha we can excited in winter if it hails. thats as close to snow we ever get. Even though it sounds like a bit of pain to be so cold and to fight the snow off your car and drive ways and stuff. Still a huge part of me wants to go over there and play in it, it looks so good on the TV.
Well my eating has been erratic whilst I was sick, but I am geting into gear now. Sat down and done the next week menu out. IF it isnt on my menu then its not to be eaten is my new moto. I need to kick butt this week to pull in a good number for my challenge.
On the non diet side of things I found out the other week my sister is pregnant. Not usaly a big deal but she already has 3 boys and her youngest is 7, so she had well and truely finished haveing kids. she was a bit upset at first as it was not planned and I said (very foolishly) hey whats one more, 4 cant be any harder then 3. So comming to terms with it all, decided she was happy and went off for her ultra sound. Well yesterday she calls me and I just about fell of my chair. Its twins!! so she has gone from 3 kids to 5 in one jump. Oh my gosh I am in shock let alone her lol. So I kind of just said, well whats 2 more right. And we both laughed. Well all this baby talk has made me a bit clucky and reminded me how I really do want one more. But its out of the question till I lose my weight and get my health back in check. So its just one more thing to motiviate me right. Only I never want twins lol thats just two much like hard work haha.

Wow, twins! That's amazing. It sounds like the older kids are old enough to look after themselves and to help out a bit, so hopefully it won't be too hard on her. I would imagine it would be much harder when you have a 2 and 4 y.o., as little ones still require a lot of help with everyday things and everwatchful eye so they don't get in trouble.

I know the sound of snow is great...it is great when you're sitting in your warm house looking out on freshly fallen snow. It's the black ice and wind chill that gets ya!

I totally agree with Nothintolose, you're sister's timing is so good. If you're gonna have twins, you need the older kids to be old enough to help! Good for her!!:)

It also sounds like you have a great moto...have a menu plan for the week and stick to it. I really like that idea. I've never had a menu plan before...it could be because I only cook for myself, but I reckon it really helps in so many different ways. Thanks for that. Don't focus on when you were sick, everyone has trouble when their sick! You're on the right track, keep it up!!

I agree, having a plan is great! When I have a plan, I tend to stick to it mostly and much less likely to endulge in things I should not... But, as a word of caution, make sure your plan will keep you full for majority of the day, and that it includes some bonuses of foods that you love(even desserts in moderate portions). Its much easier to stick to a plan, if you know that your favorite foods are in it.

hey Zoila.....
congrats to your sister....twins hey?? Everything happens for a reason you know - that's totally exciting! now that I've had one I'm a baby enthusiast! LOL I'll stop anyone to see their child....that's quite a switch for me. And as for the cold....it blows my mind too...but it's like anything - when you grow up with it - it's all you know. I can't imagine the heat in Australia...I'd wither and die - and from what Aussie says there aren't many air conditioners? (is that what you guys call them too?) In summer mine goes morning noon and night...I hate heat. I always think if you never seen snow it would be amazing for the first time!
ANYWAYS! Sounds like you are hanging in there and I just wanted to say you've been doing so good - there is a change in you since your first post...you seem more confidant and positive...I hope that's true!
Have a good day girl!

That's interesting. I grew up in cold climate, but I cannot stand it. I get cold so easily, and always have to bundle up 3 times more then everyone else. I love hot weather, especially when its not too humid. Its a bit tough when you have to do hard labour outside (and yes, thank god for air conditioners, would not be able to be without them).

BTW, is heat in Australia dry or is it really humid? Humidity makes hot weather unbearable.

Thanks guys, the heat here alternates between humid and dry heat. This summer it has been quite humid which I hate, I dont mind when its dry heat and really hot I can handle that but the humid kind just makes everything sticky and thats what gets to me not the heat. I dont know about where Aussiegirl was, but pretty much everyone I know over here has an air conditioner, or air con as we say. lol always shorting words. Yes mine pretty much never stops during summer. Ours is on a climate control so when the tempreture reach a certain point it turns its self on and when it cools down it switches its self off so we pretty much never touch it. though during the summer months it never stops much lol.

Well I feel like crap today, (hope I can say that) I am having a bad day, I am tired and cranky. And Our hot water system has broken and on top of all the other bills we have happening we havent had the money for a repair man. So its been about a week struggling with cold showers (which hasnt been as bad with the heat) and boiling the kettle for baths for the kids which takes me ages every night to do. Well today being pay day, we had the repair man over only to tell me it cant be fixed and needs to be replaced.Arrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh $900 man it really sucks. I just want to go out an find the bigest chocolate I can find and then sleep for a week but I cant do either. I have this challenge going on and I have kids so sleep in out as well. The one good news for the day is. I was winging to one of the mums when droping my daughter off that I cant face another cold shower today (as its not very hot today) and she has offered for me and the kids to come over after school to use her shower. Oh she is so nice, so hopefully that will cheer me up.

Wow. That really sucks. No hot water? We had that problem too, sort of. We had hot water but it never came out more than warm. Luckily, we live in an apartment so no charge to us for fixing it :D Good luck getting your hot water system fixed and that's nice of the lady to let you come over and shower. Hope things get better soon but you seem to be doing a great job resisting that chocolate :)

Hey girl just dropping in to see how you're doing and let ya know I'm thinking about ya. Hope you have a great weekend! :D

Well I was up and down last week, was feeling not so great emotionaly but manage to hang on to my loss. Today is the start of a whole new week. We now have a new hot water system, and there for hot water yah!! My life is going to be a lot easier this week for sure. We also brought a kitten. I needed to cheer my self up so I got a kitten. It was offered to me for free so I thought yeah, its free why not. lol well my "Free" kitten cost me about $100 all up I realised afterwards. With cat bowl, kittle littler, kitten food, worming tablets, trip to the vet for vacinations, and some cat toys cause I just couldnt resist. Funny how I never think the whole cost through before I do these things. Mind you I dont regret it he is so cute and lovely and he really did cheer me up. My kids love him to bits as well they wont give him a minuites peace poor little guy.
Well today was a wee bit stress full. I took my son to get a hair cut as it was just me and him today (daughter at school) I thought yeah it will be easy only haveing the one (he is only 2yrs old). I was standing at the counter paying for the hair cut and he was standing by my leg, well I only took my eyes off him for a second. When I looked down he was gone, I quickly looked to the other side, then franticly around the shop. Ok now I panic I look out and run into the centre (mall) and there he is right on the other side of the shoping centre. Oh my gosh he just about gave me a heart attack I ran over and grabed him quickly and he was standing right by an exit (with heaps of cars running back and forth) thinking about going outside. When I think about what could of happen. I felt so bad, when we got home I put him to bed and I ended up getting into the hot cross bunns. So all round I was bad today. Man I still shudder just thinking about it all.
Anyway I will never let him out of my site again. Actualy think he is going back in the trolley, straps on as well.
I am hopefull to have a better day tomorow, am going to do a new menu up tonight and get my week sorted.

Hi, Zoila,

Don't beat yourself up, its the nature of kids to run off at the worste possible moment! Does he understand yet what he can and cannot do? If not, keep him in the stroller, otherwise tell him to never run off in public places, because it can be so dangerous! Forget about yesterday and don't worry about what might have been. All is well that ends well. :)

Have fun with a kitten. Animals are never free, because taking care of them costs money, even if not much, but they also bring so much joy.

Have a good day! I'm happy to hear about hot water, yeah! Now you can concentrate on weight loss full force! :) Lets be really good this week!

So today was a pretty good day with food. I did well and am happy with my self right now. Weight Watchers is getting too expensive for me so I am going to have to do it solo for a while (price went up to $17 a week) I decided to do the old calerie counting thing for a while, if anyone knows any good sites let me know.
My goal for this weel is to cut out the diet drinks. I was reading last night on what all the chemicals in them do to you and it kind of blew my mind, I mean I knew they werent great for you but had no idea they were that bad. Now I have been drinking so many cans a day of the stuff since I was a tinny girl (my mum was addicted too) its not going to be a straight out cold turkey kind of thing. As its hard enough sticking to a diet with out added stress. But I got it down to 2 cans today, which for me is really awsome, as I could easly drink 5 just before lunch time, so I figure this week keep it at 2 cans a day and next week down to 1 and so on until I cut them out all together. Better to do it now as my daughter sees me drinking them and wants what mummy is having all the time, I dont want to get her addicted especialy now knowing what they do to you. Plus the added bonus is, I have such a hard time drinking enough water, now with out so many cans of diet drink in me hmm surpisingly the water intake as gone up lol.

Zoila, congrats on reducing diet soda! Thats a HUGE step! Yes, its much easier to drink more water when you don't drink as much soda. I think there are things available to spice up the water. Sometimes having a small sugar-free hard candy helps to get over the taste of water. Remember to change one thing at a time, so you don't overwhelm yourself. You're doing great!
