Weight-Loss WL competition: TEAM PLATINUM

Weight-Loss
New challenge - I'm horrible at coming up with this stuff, so sorry if it's lame.

The challenge will consist of several elements:

1) Push-ups - 1 point for 10 pushups, up to 2 points per day. No half points or anything like that. All kinds of push-ups go - on the floor, on the knees, wall-pushups, whatever you can manage to do.

2) Food log - 2 points per day for a complete food log with food, drinks AND calories. No wild guesses please.

3) Pictures - I know this is a big ask, for me more so than for most others, but that's one of the reasons I put it up here - 5 points at the end of the week for a current picture (face can be blurred, of course), no older than 3 days (+2 extra points for a comparison picture from before the challenge began).

That's it. At maximum, the challenge should give you 4 points per day (28 pts/week), plus 7 for the pictures = 35 altogether. Hope that's not too bad.

Also, I would like to continue this challenge after it ends, starting on March 23rd, and running through to the end of June. Whether it will be a single player challenge or a team one will be determined by how many people are actually interested, but the general format should stay the same. I will start a new thread to gauge interest, then take it from there. Just thought I'd mention it here as well. :)

Hey team Steve! I hope you haven't been discouraged from the contest. You've done great and you should be proud. I hope to see you around!

Thanks Quercus, still about just my dad passed away on the 14th so been busy trying to sort funerals/finances etc, and logging things hasn't really been on my list this week.

Will post end of challenge results etc tomorrow for the teams.

Thanks,
Steve

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Thank you.

It's quite stupid the amount of paperwork there is to fill out at a time you really don't want to. Banks freeze all joint accounts etc until probate/will is done, so my mum has no money she can access etc currently, so just using my savings, but yeah bit dumb really...

Steve

I have friends that swear by getting an extra official death certificate or two issued - so that you can make several applications to different insurance / pension etc places at the same time to speed things up... too many places appear to want the original so it can help to have more than one original.

Also it is a good lesson to us all to have at least one non-joint bank account with emergency funds in so that we all have access to money if our partner dies...

Sorry about your loss, Steve. I know it must be hard for you. I had to deal with these kinds of things recently myself. Since your location is listed as in the UK, my guess is that your case will be similar. The banks are legally bound to pay funeral costs out of the frozen bank accounts, provided that there's enough money there to start with. In our case, we just handed the invoice from the funeral in to the bank, and they paid it directly.
Also, they have to pay out any money that is clearly designated for your mother - i.e. if there are any wages or anything like that that's in her name, they have to free that if she can prove that it's hers. And if there is no will, depending on how much is left, they should transfer the bank accounts into her name, but from all I understand, that is down to how much money is involved. In our case, there wasn't even any probate, because there wasn't such a great lot in the accounts to start with.
I hope you get it all sorted soon, sending some vibes of patience and strength your way. I know how much of both is needed in times like these.

Thank you San, Yeah seems they like making it complicated. Didn't know about the wages thing, will have to look into that. Trying to get some new accounts open just in her name to transfer things like wages etc into from now on.

We're in a bit of a loop currently as to apply for probate we need to fill things in like money payable via pension/insurance claims (for the inheritance tax forms that need putting in with the probate), yet they won't release the information without a probate to prove we're entitled to it... And as he had a lot of money invested in things like shares etc too, they're all in his name solely, so again probate needed. Sent a few dozen letters out to the companies, so just waiting on replies to get things moving again!

Just hope it all gets sorted out before the bills etc run the accounts dry and things get cut off, but hopefully they'll let us transfer things like that without issue as it's still just paying them, not like we get anything out of it.

Steve

Standard bills like water, phone, gas, electric etc can get paid by anyone (including via direct debit)... they do not care who's bank account pays the money... We have had to pay my elderly MILs bills for years as she was ignoring envelopes...

I'm so sorry for your loss Steve. That's really bad that they add so much frustration to a terrible circumstance. Remember to eat and get your rest.

Yes - and not just that - if you can try to eat healthily it would save you from taking a backward step which would give you more work to do in the future... Try not to neglect yourself and the things that you know that you need to do for your own health...
