Marsia, yes I'm at that point where I don't want to make choices. Inside paint was pretty easy for me. But I only used 3 colors to keep it simple -- living space, master bed, daughter's room. I figure paint in one room is one of those things I can always change later. The thing that stresses me about the stain is that it's not easily changed later. Same goes for tile. Those are difficult, expensive changes.

But yeah, next time I build a house, I'm hiring Marsia as my designer. :)

I am starting to wonder if I'm going through pre-menopause, but I'm only 43! My periods have changed the past few years. I used to be a 28 day on the dot girl. Now I'm 21 days, 31 days, etc. My last period only lasted for like 2 days. The months before were heavier than usual. Now I feel like I'm going to start again. I've been unable to get full the past few days and feel constantly hungry -- which is what it's like in the few days before a period. Also, my hormones feel off-balance. Oh well. Not like I can do anything to stop it if that's what it is, it just seems kind of early.

Not much was done on my house this week, which is frustrating. Hurricane Michael came barreling through here yesterday with heavy rains and winds. We are far inland, so we don't get the actual hurricane, but a tropical storm, which is bad enough IMO. I could hear the trees snapping in the woods next to my house and some roads were closed from flooding. Today is supposed to be nice and sunny, though. I have to drive to Charlotte to pick up my tile in a bit. Then over to the new house to talk to the tile guy -- if he's there. That guy seems to make his own schedule, lol.

I did get over there last night to put up some colors next to the stone, but it was very wet, so I'm not sure if this pic will even work. I may have to try again today when it is dry.

That dark painted color is what I have right now for the door. The lighter color next to it is my siding color -- it looks super light next to the dark, but it is actually a warm gray. And then 2 stain colors on the posts. I am kind of liking the hue of the posts as they are, but not sure they entirely go with the stone.

Anyway will try to get a better picture today when it's more dry. Everything is super wet in this pic.

My periods stopped around that year I think. I was relieved because they were so painful. Does it help to fill up on water when you are constantly hungry or something with some electrolytes like coconut water? I guzzled a quart of it the other day because I was away from home and didn't eat lunch, so was ravenous, and it really filled me up.

Sorry to hear about the trees getting snapped. Poor things!

Your stone when you look at it up close has a lot of redish-brown warm tone, so it's hard to tell with the stone being wet (so probably darker toned), but the clear coat or the dark with some of the mahogany seem like worth trying in different lights. Maybe stand back with the dark color taped to the door and see if you want your columns to stand out more (clear coated columns), or your door to stand out more (darker columns so they recede more). I'm happy you like my input! But please don't count on it - looking at things in person is way, way better than from a photo, especially with colors!

I woke up drenched in sweat this morning, but feel fine otherwise, so I'm guessing that yeah, I'm getting close to menopause. I think that door color is too dark. I need to go up a shade or two. I'm really hoping they get the siding painted this week so I can just make a decision and move on already! LOL. I tend to get stuck and obsessed on these details. Sigh ...

There seems to be a storm here every few weeks. How is your food going this weekend?

Not great, to be honest .... hubby and I ate cheese, pepperoni, and crackers last night while watching our favorite Alaska show. On a positive note, did a long hike in the woods with the dog yesterday, so at least I got some movement in.

I had a weekend like that, too. I gained 5 pounds this weekend somehow. Can I borrow your dog and take him for a walk?!

Sorry the things I suggest are not working for your house. I really think you should go with what you feel works best. Like if you like the wood the color it is, you are there and see what works best, so don't let what I would try sway you too much!

Oh no, your input has been VERY helpful and got me thinking outside the box when I was stuck! I really appreciate it! I just think that particular color was too dark, and not really warm enough. Under the cover of the porch it gets even darker, if that makes sense!

Haha, my dog will take you for a walk! She is still such a puppy and going on 7 years old!

Because I had to have a Hysterectomy(kept my ovaries) I wasn't as aware of when I went through my actual menopause, but I do know I had hot flushes for about 10 years. My Mum was the same. It's good to be on the other side :)

Ah Jennie you could very well be perimenopausal . I had the same problems and then got periods where I literally could not move as I would destroy anything I was wearing . Also the flashes but I still get them on and off . My gp put me on a mini pill and I had 6 months of hell but never looked back . I was about 45 . She told me if I can keep weight in check ( so thank you for bringing up this reminder to me ) and my Blood pressure I can stay on it until I'm 55 and hopefully continue as I am now . I do have low spells on an odd occasion where I cry and feel down but they pass quick . I'm not sure if they are pill related or menopause . I get about 2 light periods a year . If even . Look after yourself x

Thanks for all the replies! Happy Tuesday! :)

Lama- truly weird, yes!

cate - the hot flashes are very strange!

Em - the hike was awesome, and it's getting dark early here too!!

petal - i'll have to talk with my doc about testing my hormones, thanks!

Hit the gym this morning, felt great!

15 mins stair mill
15 min walk
60 bodyweight squats
60 step ups
60 bridges
60 donkey kicks
10 mins abs

Took 1 hour. I'm going to try to hit the gym first thing in the morning from now on because I have so much more energy at that time than if I wait until the afternoon.

Food wise it's been rough, but plan for today is to stay on track and eat some veggies!

Have a great day all!

Your dog sounds like fun, and glad my suggestions are helpful for generating ideas! Wow, you can do 60 squats. Looks like a good, rigorous workout!! Can you get the rest of your family to eat the foods on your diet so you don't have the other stuff in your house? I am slowly culling my cupboards of stuff I can't eat for a while. It's hard!

Ouch. I am soooooore this morning. No gym for a few days. Hope to get a good walk with my dog.

With my husband and teenage daughter, ridding the house of all junk is not realistic, lol. I have stuck to a diet before with snacks around, so it's not impossible, it just takes discipline that I seem to be lacking at the moment. May just be too much stress going on in the final leg of this house build.

Jennie I love your shower . It's fab . Sorry you are sore . Hope you are doing your stretches . It will help .
