Very nice find on DNL, I hadn't looked into it in a long wihle.

Thank you, Hoss. :)

The beauty of carbohydrate manipulation, and I quote from above:

Chronic massive carbohydrate overfeeding: one study (Acheson et. al., 1988) gave 700-900 grams of carbohydrates for 3 straight days following glycogen depletion. In the first 24 hours, as glycogen was refilled, there was no net DNL. Over the next 2 days, as carb intake remained massive and sustained, DNL increased and a significant amount of fat was synthesized. This is part of why diets like Bodyopus and my Ultimate Diet 2.0 taper carbohydrates down as the carb-load continues.

Yes, it was an interesting read, boss man.

hey chillen! iv been doing well; just graduated high school about a month ago and summer has been fairly busy!

Congrats! So what is this "busy" definition you are referring to?

I am happy to be talking to you again, Jon. :)

wrestling ended 2 weeks ago, which makes me very happy because that means i get to hit the weights HARD! and now i can track everything and tailor my program however i see fit instead of wasting my time with hammer curls and tons of upper body stuff we did in wrestling lifts.
however, wrestling was very productive; i maintained my weight and strength, and learned a lot of techniques!

Did you compete in any matches? If so, how did you do?

home life has been very comfortable! im still with my girlfriend and we are very happy together!(no im not living with her hahaha). everyone in the family is getting along very well and i just fixed my BIKE!!! i usually ride it around 8-10 miles to my girlfriend's house because i dont have a car LOL XD

Behind any good man, is a good woman. How long have your two been together?

besides that, iv been improving my lifts quite comfortably, my new goal is to get my back squat very high--above 340 and improve the SIZE of my calves. too small.

Very attainable goals, young man. The calves can be finicky and tough to improve--for some. They can take a beating and smile at you. :)

I am going to locate some good quality information for you. I have several articles stored on my PC reference calves, and some opinions from Lyle McDonald, dependent on the person.

Here is a short --take on what Lyle McDonald recommends (from this short post):

"Most people do higher reps for calves per set b/c the range of motion is short and most people bounce and don't use their muscle anyhow."

"Some people do '30 reps' because each rep is done with poor quality. This is why skinny guys can bounce the stack all day long; they aren't actually using any muscular effort."

"If you do calves the way I recommend (explosive concentric, slow eccentric, 2-4 second pause at the bottom), you can work them in the same rep ranges as everything else."

I can post them here, or in your other thread. What ever you prefer.

it was very fun today because my girlfriend tried out weightlifting the last 2 weeks and she enjoys it very much!!!
so she lifted today and i spotted her; she worked up to a back squat of 130x3 at a body weight of 123. not bad huh?! :D 2nd time she ever squatted! haha im proud of her. wer working her up to a 160 back squat!

This FLAT ROCKS! :)

Yes, very good in deed! :)

anywaysss...lol i really hope ur doing fine in your job, chillen! i reallly really look forward to the rest of the summer with plenty of communication between us for support, ideas, and friendship!!!! :D

It went very well. I was harboring a lot of financial stress for the company. In addition, I had the lives of several families in the decisions I made. I saved these jobs, and created a few more. It was a tough, tough period; and I was dieting and training during this time. I pointed this out in earlier post, but I wanted to see just how large my heart was; well, with the wife putting a boot in my ass from time to time, she was plugging any air that would deflate my heart, though my rump was sore. :)

And, as strange as this may seem, I made time to put a garden together, and watching small plants grow very large, and caring for them, seems to give me some peace and take off some stress.

I love seeing natural things (that are good for you) grow, Jon. They are my little children, lol :)

One of my babies :))), the Chocolate Cherry is reaching 5 foot! (planted very early April). I plan to post updated pics of the plants. I posted the ones I took early June, a few posts back. They all like the cow-patties (manure) I pick up from a friends farm nearby......LOL.......My wife on the other hand.....;)

Organic soil, and no artificial fertilizer. I am having some trouble with the F-n, tomato cut worm. I refuse to get insecticide for this problem, and though I pick them off the leaves, I do not kill them (I just can't do it), as much as they will destroy the vegetation of the plant. I put hem in the grass in the yard, and leave them to there own devices. I have chosen some more natural methods.

I missed talking with, Jon. You will always be my friend. No matter what you do. All you have to do is ask, and you have an ear of a friend, when you need it. And, straight-forward advice and opinions.

Look forward to our communication.

Have a great day, Jon.

Hope you have a good 4th of July.

Peace, my friend

Does anyone have some research on: Yohimbe (Yohimbine).

Quality research, not some BS that can sometimes......come from the internet. I have a few, but I want to find out, if any one may have one I do not have with new (or older) research.

Many thanks in advance. No......I am not looking in to this for libido purposes. LOL.

Many thanks in advance.

(Jon, I answered your post)

I never thought I would see the day, LOL.

Some kind of switch flipped post 18 years old, lol

Here is my oldest son (23) who is about 225 lbs (he is working on being a brute!), assisting his old man in baby sitting the next door neighbors baby (while she is at work):

I asked him if he had a fever, lol.

I was sent this a while back. This is Frank Zane (an old school body builder, that was smaller than the others, but hung among the best, and even won Olympia in the late 70's), after training and dieting for a period, at the age of about 64 years old:

Zane.jpg

Just incredible. :)

Hoss: Did Zane use Steroids in his prime? I always wondered this because he was much smaller than the others at that time. My understanding is he claims he didn't.

Best wishes,

The Way

I was thinking on the Lyrics to: The Way, but with a different twist then what they had intended, more akin to diet and fitness:

Here are part of the Lyrics (Fastball):

"They started walking: Where were they going without ever knowing the way?"

Comment: How are we going to reach our goals without knowing: The Way?

"Anyone could see The road that they walk on is paved in gold"

Comment: Genuine confidence is a way of thinking about yourself and your abilities. Confidence is your perception of your own potential; it’s a kind of long-term thinking that powers you through the obstacles and tough times, helping you solve problems and putting you in the way of success. Your confidence is quite a separate matter from your social skills.

You path is paved in gold. When you make it: The Way.

"And it's always summer, they'll never get cold; They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray"

Comment: What turns ordinary people into overachievers is the way they use their minds when they are called on to perform. You change your mind, and your body will perform wonders.

When it rains, it is still summer, when the clouds clear. YOu have to clear them, and make the sun continue to shine.

"You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home; But they really don't care"

Comment: The way you create any outcome in your life is to hold the vision of your deepest desires. At the same time, though, you must honestly and accurately assess your current situation and how it relates to your greater vision. By doing this, you engage tension between what is and what can be. This tension is the primary creative force behind the manifestation of any outcome. It’s as natural and powerful as the force of gravity (Emerson).

So not let the shadows of the self stand in: The Way.

"They wanted the highway. They're happy there today , today"

Comment: The way you talk about yourself and your life—your story—has a great deal to do with what shows up in your day-to-day experience. Your thoughts create filters through which you view your life. If you think of yourself as a Victim, you filter all that happens to you through the lens of DDT, and you find plenty of evidence to support that viewpoint. That’s why the orientation you adopt is so important: it exerts a powerful influence on your life direction.

You control your person highway, and drive through the ruts and pot holes.

You know: The Way.

Peace and love,

Chillen

I saw Frank Zane at a bodybuilder contest in the mid 70s. I guess he was at or near his peak. He has not dropped off that much in the ensuing 30+ years. By comparison, Arnold has been eating way too many doughnuts in the Governor's Mansion in Sacramento...

I wish I could have went to one, Richard.

I read an article on his diet and training methods to get into that sort of physical shape in the picture. Its quite good. No supplements and no steroids according to him. :)

Yes, he has taken care of himself all these years. He looks a lot better than some persons in there prime.

He Rocks. :)

Best wishes

Hope your day is well, Richard. Peace, my friend.

Just got back from being called into work, on an electronic issue with some PC's.

Off to train in a few minutes.

Then its up at 4:45AM, and off to work, again, for a few hours. I should be done by 10AM or so, with what I have to do. One of them is setting up a B-day party surprise for a very good employee, and making sure the funds are available for it.

Peace to all. Hope everyone's day was good.

I will post the Thoughts for the day 2morrow! :)

Best wishes

Got home a bit ago, and off to get grandma's new dentures. We learned the other day, that her kidneys are shrinking and not functioning at 100%.

We go in again to see the specialist on Friday. For now, she has a list of foods that she is suppose to stay away from (believe it or not, most are veggies, and some fruit items), and foods that she can have. Quite interesting.

I will keep you posted on how this pans out. She is 76 years old, and 20 pounds overweight, and diabetic.

After I get back, I plan to train my lower, and do some cardiovascular activity.

Hope everyone's day is good!

Peace, my friends

The Chill-master continues to prescribe chill pills! :) What's up Chillen!? Looooong time no talk. Glad to see you're doing well. Hope you're still rockin' that six pack :)

PS: Did you post that picture of your six pack by your garden to scare away those people messing with your plant growth? :)

As promised, I am posting updated pics of the:

Chocolate Cherry Hybrid

This plant produces 1 to 2 ounce medium dark chocolate (looking) tomatoes, that have a VERY unique tomato smokey taste. These are hard to find. I convinced Lowe's a couple of years ago, that if they would obtain a starter plant (or seeds) in this variety at about 6-8 inches in height, I would purchase about 25, each year (I give some to family, friends, and co-workers, and I keep two). They were great, and make sure they have them by the first week of April.

This is an indeterminate plant and averages 3 to 4 feet in height at maturity. Produces all summer long into early fall before frost. I am about three weeks out from maturity at this point (Approximately). I planted them early, I do not like waiting all summer for tomatoes.

Tomato plants though somewhat resilient, I still think they are wimpy asses. But this Chocolate Cherry plant is a very TOUGH plant: just a BRUTE.

I had a small problem with some tomato cut worms the last two weeks. Believe me these suckers (they are caterpillar like, and the leaves is like a buffet to them). I refuse to use insecticide, but I have a remedy: Liquid dish soap. I put some in a spray bottle, and the ****ers! slide right off, and then when I find them, I discard them. Other than this, I just pick them off, and look every day.

You seen the other pictures from early June (previous post), and these are the plants now. It is about 4 foot high by about 3 foot wide, and I expect it will get about 5 foot! It is growing ridiculous! I guess it likes the cow patties in the soil, lol.

Both are in 34 Quart white trash cans, that cost about 6 bucks:

I am a hearty fresh veggie eater, and love it.

The Jet Star Hybrid Next. :)

I posted some of the Jet Star Hybrid earlier. The pot-size is holding back the height of the plant (which I will remedy next year), but is bushy, and though small is being a heavy, prolific producer:

This is a indeterminate tomato plant, and maturity is about 1 week away (65 days), is suppose to reach about 3 to 4 foot (its still growing), but I doubt it will get the high. I believe at this point it will be more bushy than big. This is okay, as long as it produces well, which is it is.

I had one off this plant already, and it is one sweet tasting MOFO!

The patios that I posted sometime back are doing well, and ripening their tomatoes at a very fast pace, and I am currently just swimming in golf ball size tomatoes. I probably have near 100 between both patio plants!

It is near its end though. It is a determinate plant, that ripens fruit all at once, and then dies. I expect about one more week or so, before its gone. :(

The Bush Goliath is next. This was planted later, and is behind the rest.

Best regards,

Chillen

The Bush Goliath Hybrid.

Determinate, though produces all summer, and tomatoes are supposed to be about 6 to 10 ounces. Grows to about 3/4 feet.

I planted this one very late, and its "several" weeks from maturity, and behind the others.

However, it is deciding to produce an overly large tomato, I would approximate at about 12 ounces. I took a pic of it, but the pic doesn't serve much justice to the size. The tomato is huge, and its the biggest I have among the others. And, the plant is only about 2 foot at present, and doing well:

This pic doesn't do the juicy little gem justice. I would approximate about 12 ounces (or 4 ounces from a pound), maybe I try to get a better pic later.

And a couple more cluster shots of the Chocolate Cherry Hybrid:

Okay, I am done posting my little babies. LOL. I just HATE store bought tomatoes, so I sort of go all out to get as many as I can during the summer, and into late fall, before I am forced to eat the tasteless store bought crap

Best wishes to all

Write up a short post, and catcha-brotha-up!

I going to post pics and videos real soon here, and in a new thread.

LOL, that is hilarious. :)

I just got done posting some new updated plant pics today.

Again, glad to see you! Post how you been doing! :)

All pictures were taken this morning when it was still dark. I usually get up, about 4:30 AM, when I am off work.

I like sitting on the patio in the very early AM, as the patio faces directly where the sun comes up, and watch the sun rise, sipping on a cup of hot coffee, while my family is sleeping, and "remember how lucky I am, and being very appreciative" with------just what I have, and I become complacent and personally content. Then I inspect the plants and water them. Sometimes, I will sit and watch the sun rise, while eating a fresh tomato from the vine.

Soon, it will be also fresh Watermelon, and cantaloupe.

There is something about the early morning. Its quiet. One can hear the birds singing, usually no wind, and just plain beautiful sitting among natural plants.

Peace everyone.
