I just came up with a brilliant idea walking in the store with my wife an hour or so ago.

I bought a walker (like the one my Mother-in-law uses), lol. :)

Why?

Instant dip station. :)

For when I have to go out of town on business trips and away from my free weights. :)

It comes just a tad above waist high. The grips our shoulder width apart. Bend at the knees, and viola, a dip station on-the go. Ha, ha. ;)

Oh.....did I tell ya that my mobile dip-station folds up in half and then a quarter, and will fit in a large luggage bag?

Love it.

:)

Best wishes

My uncle is way ahead of you, Chillen.

He has three of them, welded and reinforced. Really cool.

I have a home made dip station in my garage that I use regularly with my free weight training.

However, going out on some business trips has presented some problems in the past--especially if I am gone more than two weeks. But over time I have developed a on-the-go system (in a bag), and try to select a hotel (if I am allowed to choose) that has a training facility included. So its not much of a problem. But having this mobile dip station is sort of cool, though.

I got a funny look by my in-law when I started busted out (about 25 dips--not even close to failure) on her walker in the living room the other day :), lol, which sort of spawned the idea when we went to the store that had them.

Just thinking to the future when training becomes a problem being away from home, that is all.

Proactive.

Wins.

Case closed.

:)

Awesome idea Chillen. Ill have to look into that as i have no dip station and they're one of the few exercises i cant do in my "gym". (I workout at home)

I didn't think it was anything new.

However, using a "walker" as a dip station isn't exactly what it was made for, LOL.:)

Heck, its sort of like a small motivation when I use it on business trips: I do not want to be the one using it for "its intended purpose" :))), so I bust out dips on it :).

I posted it really to show some new members (or regular members) that do review the COL, that being a little creative with certain items around then house (especially when one doesn't have access to a gym or weights at home), can net some awesome equipment (and can be modified to an extent in some cases).

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving, Wes.

Wojo: Happy Thanksgiving, brotha! Peace to you and your family.

Actually my Thanksgiving was in October but i get a 4 day weekend (Fri-Mon, unpaid)for the American thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I hope you enjoy it.

Oh ya and MSN and Yahoo are compatible so you and Jackie should be able to chat woithout you getting any other messenger.

The mobility feature is original. Don't think I've ever heard of anyone lug around a significant amount of work out equipment for trips

Then again, not a ton of people are as extremely dedicated (friggin loony!:yelrotflmao:) as the Chillmeister.

You know what I am going to do (I am a jokester, LOL), the next time I go on a business trip? I am going to walk down the hall with my walker, and go in the fitness room at the hotel, and then start busting out dips.

Its worth the look on the peoples faces, lol.

Yep, sounds like a plan of action.

he, he.

:)

That's classic Chillen!

I honestly wish I could see that. Maybe somebody could videotape you doing that so you can post it up here one day for all of us to see?

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone that celebrates it! :)

Warmest wishes of love, health, and happiness.

Had a fantastic day with the the family today; especially with my two sons.

Now, I am off to put some "biological use" to all the "good" food and nutrition I consumed: Blasting myself in the weight room in about an hour or so.

Peace to all of you, brotha and sista's.

Best wishes

Had a rather fantastic Upper Workout, last night! :)

The only change to the Upper Work Out is changing the sequence of the exercises of the Back (for Upper #1) while performing RP-15's, and adding in Renegade Rows/Stiff-Arm Pull-Over, as Super-sets in-between.

For example: T-Bar Row--immediately to Renegade Rows and then immediately to the Stiff Arm Pull-Over, then a rest of RP-15, repeat for 3 cycles (1 set each cycle). I like "expending a lot of energy" during workouts, and respond well to it.

I have set up an Upper #1, Upper #2, and Upper #3, workout sequence, and a Lower #1, Lower #2, and Lower #3, workout sequence. All in RP-15/20 rest periods, with the exception of Dead Lifts and Front Squats (which are both on the SAME DAY. And, yes you read that correctly: the same day--sap me baby, and I give back in recuperation, and my body receives many gifts, ;)).

Each workout has exercises different than the other (and the workouts rotate), with the exception of the Dead lift and Front Squat (which are carrying over from one lower workout to the next), while the others build on its former brother in progression.

And, giving the Lower end another blast tonight, along with some station specific work that includes very short rest periods.

Still maintaining around 170 pounds, with a ton of water-retention. And, still delivering "the mighty and all-powerful, dietary manipulation" based on personal history.

I ran across one of my former posts, which I believe is fitting this holiday season for some:

A person never lacks support and its always personally available.

Defeating the mental beasts in which prevents its functional use is the complication.

It's psychologically and biologically within; one has to be consciously aware of it; know how to properly process and utilize it. One needs a big strong hand to reach in grab the soul to express these infinite riches, and the precious gifts received can never be accessed by anyone. You become alive and surrounded by an impenetrable shield beating inside yourself. Strum each finger through your soul, feel with accuracy of what you feel, realize and examine what you perceive. Investigate, and just for once, comprehend the master. You can't be defeated, not even by yourself.

The greatest artwork ever created is brushing and painting the power of the soul. It is the greatest personal friendship within your body you will ever possess.

The music created will open the gate of the power kingdom. Your vision becomes clear through this one-way window and nourishes your being as you open the window and view the pictures of life, and realize you have a resolved and impenetrable soul as you receive the lessons of living life.

And, do not forget it.

Stayen' Alive......on the inside...and you recognize and kill all the jive talken' bull-sh^t, and you are fortress that can not be defeated.

Tip the cup to your soul, take an educated walk with your goal, others will be in awe.....as they stay stuck going no where.

The inner soul is the toughest "thing" on earth. A weak soul is death, and some walk in this death, and are unaware of it.

As you know, I am not the greatest fan of over-the-counter supplements for fat loss, especially.

For those taking No-Doze, I have this to say, he, he :)

Does No Doze Work?

Walking in a store, our Fitness.com member, strikes a POSE as he/she sees No Doze among the medicine ROWS.

Fighting off his/her mental FOES, intelligence GROWS

While his/her intelligence GLOWS he/she begins to smell something up their NOSE

The Fitness.com member realizes its not from his or her CLOTHS, but from the No Doze because it BLOWS due to all the inept marketing WOES.

Now, our Fitness.com member KNOWS not to take No Doze and to stay on his or her TOES.

The Fitness.com member learned to combat the highs and LOWS by battling the mental FOES

Does No Doze work?

No!

No Doze BLOWS...........:) :) :)

I am aware that caffeine is a mild stimulant and a mild diuretic.

This is one reason, the "so-called" fat burners are "primarily" caffeine based in ingredients. (GTE, etc)

I was joking with the Rhyme. ;)

But, not really, :)

One should find what will bring consistency in going to the gym and meeting their fitness goals.

One isnt going to find it in an over-the-counter pill.

Sometimes this just "masks" the real inner problem one has as a temporary remedy only to have it reveal its ugly head later, and sometimes the over-the-counter product can "cloud up" the inner situation with some "mild withdrawal symptoms when its stopped" and make it worse.

I just prefer getting my energy from real food, and battling the ultimate master in providing energy: The MIND and BODY, and popping its cork to reveal its true inner beauty of providing me with energy--and I like its withdrawl symptoms, baby! :)

A person walks in their pill box (their own body) everyday, that will provide the answer, and some rarely tap into its power.

Some persons want to "sprint" to the finish line only to run out of gas before they finish, while the one that has been "consistent and steady", passes them right by and finishes.

I haven't been consistent with my fitness, by mistake.

Keep on ROCKEN' Brotha and Sista's!

Best wishes,

Chillen

Helping a fellow human being is a beautiful thing. Our neighbor is experiencing some babysitting problems on the weekends, and I have decided to pick up their slack, and help.

Therefore, I will be helping to take care of this "little dude" for the next couple of weekends, to lighten the neighbors burden a tad:

Helping one another. Loving one another.

Working with one another.

Nothing better!

Dang! He has the Stiff-Legged Dead Lift down when he is hungry and wants the bottle. LOL :)

Dude, you have a MONSTER full plate and an even bigger heart.....crazy amounts of kudos to you bro...

Nothing we can't handle. Both parents work, and currently there schedules are conflicting; they are working the same hours, so one can't pick up the slack while the other works. My wife and I have been down that road in the past, so we don't mind helping out.

I Think I Can. I Think I Can. Can I?

(by: Michele Wahlder)

Your mental train ticket to self-empowerment

We all find ourselves at certain points in our lives holding first class tickets to negative mental trains of thought. Michele Wahlder (MS, LPC, PCC), a two-time cancer survivor and Dallas, Texas-based Certified Life Coach and Psychotherapist, has placed thousands of people on the right track to self-empowerment via a plan she calls the 5 C Process. The journey challenges individuals to:

One

Clarify Current View – Where are you now- honestly?

Conscious awareness of your current view is the first step in becoming the best you can be. Getting clear about how your life aligns with your values, talents and unique gifts is vital to your happiness. You need to know where you are in order to learn where you want to go.

You can clarify your current view by completing a review of eight life areas. Be honest with yourself about how happy are you with your profession, finances, health and overall well-being, primary relationships, personal development, spirituality, environment, hobbies, etc.

Two

Connect with Your Highest Vision – Where do you want to be?

Example: A client of mine, a yoga instructor, decided she was happy teaching but wanted to contribute to the world on a larger level. She wasn’t happy with the quality of the yoga clothing that was accessible to her and her fellow yogis. Her vision was to design and create fun, hip and timeless yoga clothes using eco-conscious fabrics.

You have to get really clear about what you want. It is crucial that you connect to your highest vision of yourself because you can’t create it unless you are clear about what it looks like. If you don’t have a vision of where you want to go or what you want to be, you will most likely NOT get there. To quote Henrietta Klauser, “If you have a connection to what you want, take the next step and write it down.” If you don’t have any idea about what you want, or how you want to be in life to bring about greater happiness, begin looking through magazines and create a Vision Board/Collage of what attracts you. You may also want to consider getting an outside perspective from a friend or a professional coach. I take my clients through a guided imagery that gives them a glimpse of what their future could look like. There are also books that can help guide you. Just get help assessing your talents, divine gifts and abilities and then determine how you want to use them more fully in the world. We can’t help others as fully, if we are not aware of how we can best serve. So instead of thinking of it as selfish to engage in knowing yourself better, I would suggest you consider it selfish to hold back and not be the best you can be. Only in this way, can we help the world and others.

Three

Create Inspiring Goals – How will you get there?

Example: My client created a tiered plan of what needed to happen step by step – outer goal. All of this was influenced by her inner goal of keeping a measured pace and a balanced life. Her goal was to enjoy the process.

You have to create a plan and take specific actions to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. When most people write goals, they just write a list of action steps, usually external actions. I believe it is more powerful to have inner and outer goals. An outer goal is what you want. For instance, you might think, “I want a new house”. An inner goal is more focused on the how. How will a new home benefit me and my family? Will it offer more common gathering areas, a larger kitchen so that we can cook together, etc.? How can I appreciate what I have now until I get this home? How can I make this a joyful experience rather than a stressful one? If you can not be grateful for what you have now, then when you get a new home, it will only create very short-term happiness for you. Then, you will be focused on the next external illusion of happiness. For 2008, I suggest taking at least three of the life areas I mentioned earlier and jot down how you couldbenefit from living your highest vision in each area. Next, add action steps toward your desired achievements along with completion dates.

Four

Clear Obstacles – How will you remove obstacles in your way?

We all have dreams and visions for our life, but frankly, there are many things that can get in the way. The two most common obstacles I see with my clients are:

The inability to say NO— In order to bridge the gap from your current view to your highest vision, you have to make room for what “Could Be”. If your life is full and you want to add more of the things that are truly important in your life, you should start the change process by making room first. You must say no to some things in your life, so you can say yes to what is most important. You have to give up the destructive habits, behaviors and activities to make room for new ones.

A metaphor would be a water hose watering a flowering plant. The water in the hose is your life force and the flowering plant is what you are trying to grow in your life. If the water hose has leaks, it will not have enough water or life force/energy to reach its desired outcome or vision (to grow the plant into full bloom). Examples of leaks might include toxic friendships, unrealistic expectations, watching too much television, eating sugar, overspending, negative relational patterns with your spouse or working on an outdated job.

Example:
A client’s obstacle here was that her 8- year-old daughter needed caring for and she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to be a good mother plus jumpstart a successful, new business. We remedied this issue by getting clear on the proper definition of a good mother. Also, practically speaking, she needed help picking up her daughter from school. So she got her husband to assist her in this area so she would have time to create this new business.

Negative self-talk—Research shows we have approximately 50,000 internal messages we say to ourselves daily. We are constantly walking around having conversations with ourselves. And it is what we say that makes all the difference in the overall quality of our lives.

Example: I was once in Starbucks, and I watched this woman spill her coffee while reaching for a sugar packet and I heard her say out loud, “I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I did that.”

Now, I just happen to hear her, but this is an example of something you might say internally as well. You might think, “No big deal. I say things like this to myself all the time.” Well, IT IS A BIG DEAL as our subconscious hears these messages and acts on them as if they were real. Don’t say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t want someone else saying to you.

Think of self-talk like mental fuel.

Now, imagine filling your car with dirty water. We all know you wouldn’t get very far. Now, take that same car and fill it with high quality gasoline. You’ll most likely reach your destination. It is the same with people and the words we use. If the words are negative and toxic, we will sputter along with low energy and our performance suffers. If our words are positive and tender, we will feel confident, energized, encouraged and will most likely meet our goals faster and easier.

Here are some key things to remember if you ever find yourself preparing to board the train of BAD self-talk:

B stands for belittling self-talk.

Stop telling yourself, “I am not good enough.” If your dream is to have a healthy self-confidence, which of the following examples is more likely to get your there:

A. “I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I did that.”

B. “Whoops, mistakes happen.”

Can you see how the Answer B is much kinder?

Astands for awfulizing.

Stop predicting a future filled with gloom and doom, and dwelling on scary thoughts. If you dream of obtaining a career you love, which of the following will move you closer to your vision:

A. “I did terribly on my interview, I’ll never find a job I like.”

B. “I will answer that question on past employment differently next time and I will ace it! I know I will one day have the job I love.”

Can you see how Answer B places you in the mindset of a successful job search?

Dstands for deceiving.

This is when you deceive yourself into thinking you are a victim, and that other people are to blame for your circumstances. If we want a happy relationship which will of the below responses will aid in achieving this goal:

A. “If my spouse would only do more around the house, then I would be happy.”

B. “I can and will choose happiness today, no matter what my spouse does.”

Answer B is the right choice, wouldn’t you agree?

Sstands for shoulding

This is when you give yourself a lot of shoulds, musts, and ought tos, then beat yourself up for not living up to unrealistic standards. Say your dream is to be in top physical condition, which will further that:

A. “I should have eaten a salad for lunch instead of that big ol’ hamburger. I’m such a pig!”

B. “I could have eaten a salad, but I chose not to. Tomorrow I will make healthier choices.”

The second choice is so much more inspiring, don’t you think?

Five

Commit to Action – Are you willing to do what it takes?

The final step of the 5 C Process is to commit to action. How many times have we all made plans and never carried them out, or started off excited and lost motivation? No one ever does anything great alone. We all need encouragement and support from others including an accountability partner who is willing to help hold the vision of the person you want to be. In the previous example of my client, her biggest negative self-talk was how to be a good mom and a good business woman. Her thoughts were, “If I don’t pick up my child every day from school, I am a bad mother.” Instead, we replaced it with, “Picking up my child from school daily is not what makes me a good mother. I am, indeed, a fabulous mother.”

Here are the four action steps that have been proven to help you eliminate your negative self talk:

• Become aware of your negative messages –listen to voice in head

• Stop! You have to stop immediately if you find yourself dwelling on any negative thoughts

• Replace negative thoughts with a kinder alternatives

• Practice. It takes a commitment of time in order to turn a pattern of negative thinking into a more positive train of thought.

========================================================

This quote is fitting after reading the above article:

“You can’t talk your way out of what you’ve behaved yourself into.”

(Steve Covey)

========================================================

The body is a house of many windows: there we all sit.

What kind of relationship, DO YOU HAVE WITH YOURSELF?

The biggest mistake is believing there is one right way to listen, to talk, to have a conversation -- or a relationship.

The relationship we have with ourselves is the most important. If you are divided against yourself, your goal will NOT STAND (modified Lincoln). Most people do not like thieves, and if you are talking yourself out of some important aspect of diet and training, you are a thief, and belong in your self made prison, and created your own sentence.

No one can unlock the personal jail cell but you.

(Chillen)

========================================================

Best wishes to all of you!

ROCK ON!

As most of you know (at least some of the regular members, since I wrote about how approach my diet several times), I work my diet in specific 24 hour cycles that rotate differently:

For example, for 3 to 4 days, my 24 hour cycle period is 12AM to 12 AM (all nutrition and calories that are allowed are consumed within this period, and all training is within this CALORIE AND NUTRITION period), and a new period begins at 1201AM. After this 3 to 4 day period, I would then Cycle back 4 hours, and begin another 24 hour cycle period between 8PM to 8PM (in other words, you have a 4 hour shortage of the initial clock the day before, or what I call a 4 hour surplus, since I am eating early, and beginning another cycle period)

During a bulk I consistently get up (in the middle of the night), and eat a small meal (of protein and a small amount of carbohydrates, where the type of carbohydrates are the ones I tend to react strong in carrying a lot water), and down several glasses of water. I simply want to carry a lot of water during a bulk.

Yesterdays, 24 hour cycle clock was 12AM to 12AM. And, I got up (at 3AM, after eating at 1201AM), and ate two large turkey slices and ate 1/2 serving (or a half a cup) of Old-Fashioned Oatmeal, with a 1/2 serving (or 1 Tbs) of NPB, along with my Creatine Matrix drink (Maintenance, and about 56 grams of carbohydrates between the Old-Fashioned Oatmeal and Creatine Matrix).

Then went back to bed for another 4 hours. :)

Today is an off day. But I still do my shoulder girdle exercises, and stretching.

If I do a separate diet/training journal, I will be more specific in what I eat, when I eat, and how and when I train. But, I haven't decided if I am going to do this yet.

Best wishes,

Chillen

You're definitely more of a role model/inspiration for me now more than before. It's just so admirable to see somebody be able to help another person(s) out in such the way you are, especially with what you have going on with your life, not just your routine, but life in general with your grandparents and everything.

Dedication, perseverance, and a big heart....Really, really, really admirable.

It's always better if the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing ;)
