Could everyone taking part in the bratpack challenge please put down one thing that nobody knows about you....

Well, I think it's safe to say everyone in this forum knows virtually nothing about me, save the desire to lose weight and get in shape.

That being said, a little introduction:
-39, mother of 2 girls ages 12 and 7; just celebrated 20 years of marriage
-love animals, especially dogs (I have a 3 yr old Australian Shepherd named Finnegan -see avatar
-interests are geneology, music (dabble at guitar and piano, hope to take up bagpipes in memory of my Dad who passed away 6 months ago who played), online gaming, spending time with family and friends laughing

Oh, and IF ever I were to get a tattoo I've already got a design in mind:
To honor my Irish/yankee heritage and my Southern rebel blood,
an outline of a shamrock and the interior the confederate battleflag.
 
Ok... I know this is far too ON topic for this thread, but...

I'm looking to start weight/strength training and I have no idea where to start. What are some basic weight exercises that I can do and about how many reps, etc... Preferably something I can do at home and not have to join a gym for. I'm kinda poor. :(

Have you looked at the stickies in the weight loss through exercise section? steve did some really great posts about strength training...
 
I am an urban farmer and I raise chickens, bees and grow veggies on my 1 acre plot in the city. I'm adding goats in the spring.

I have chickens and bees, too. What city do you call home? (New Orleans?) There's a thing in Manhattan now where they are trying to get the ordinance lifted to allow beekeepers. The way it's written is that bees are not permitted because they are "Wild and Ferocious Animals" Doesn't that just kill you?

You guys know I warned everyone when I started this thread that we get wild and crazy here! Not to mention that unless you completely mess around at work all day will you ever be able to keep up. Oh, I just outed myself didnt I? Oops.

To let everyone know. It is NEVER too late to join our tiny thread. So if I disappear for awhile please let anyone know that they are more than welcome to join. ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO LOSE WEIGHT!!!! :hurray::hurray::cheers2:

Today my supervisor came into the lunch room where I was checking in on my laptop. He asked if I was taking an early lunch. "Nope. What do you need?" I love my job.

Thanks everyone for your comments... seems we have some really interesting people on here. I'm also into horses, haven't ridden for ages though :(

I had about 7 piercings in my wild teenage years, hehe (I'm 20). Had a tongue ring, lebret (lip stud), nose ring, top of ear cartilage and 2 in each lobe... and belly ring. And 2 tats :)

Aaand, I love to sing, but umm, not a performer. I belly dance... I AM a dancer! And I've recently gotten addicted to exercising :/

So, almost Friday, whoop! What you all getting up to over the weekend?

I'm gonna go to my boyfriend's place and we'll probably get movies and chill... til I attempt my run again on Sunday (on a real road, not a treadmill!)

Yay! Another lass! Cead Mile Failte! :D

I have a shamrock that features three trinity knots (leaves) and an eternity knot (stem). I also have a butterfly with knotwork in the wings. :D

Oh, peeked on the scale today, down to 175.6lbs! Reading all these pages must really burn some calories!

Something ya all dont know about me eh........

I used to have long hair past the small of my back
I was a carpenter for 5 years but got out of it because I fell 25 ft off a roof and messed up my back- did not break a single bone though
In breaking with tradition of this thread- I have no piercings and no tatoos and no intention of getting any.
I originally went to school to become a lawyer and had a drastic major change when I saw 500 people in my pre law class- that class was 1 of 5 that day alone.
My graduating class in High School was only 99. The school is in chicago- 3rd largest city in the country. I t just seemes odd to me.....

I have more but you all dont need to hear all of it...:D

just pick 4 or 5 that work different muscle groups :)
