Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Omega-3 Team

Weight-Loss
Wow Dawn! That is some serious exercise!! And I have to give you props for running the 1/2 mile in under 5 min! I can't do more than 1/4 before I feel like I'm gonna die...:smilielol5: Ok, if someone was holding a gun to my head, I'm sure I could do 1/2 mile, but as no one is going to.....I'll enjoy my siestas. :smilielol5:

I've figured out my cals, and as long as I don't eat anymore than I've got planned out, I'll be at 1631 for the day. I did 40min at the gym, and am about to go to my friend's house to go for a walk. As long as it doesn't rain--which it very well may, I'll probably get in about an hour, bringing my total to 9hrs 8min for the week. :svengo:

Keep your fingers crossed I drop another 2lbs by tomorrow...:smilielol5: That would give me a 2.5 loss from last week, which would hopefully be enough to save us. If not, hopefully the MILFs will go down from the crazy weight of last week. Not that I want them eliminated, but if it comes down to us or them....well, ya know...:(

I chose siestas every day. I wouldnt have been allowed to run 1/2 a mile - but I cannot think when I have ever done that since the concept nearly killed me as a teenager. Walking - yes, dancing - yes, running - no. Maybe some day - but certainly not this week. Well done Dawn for being so energetic!

I must admit that once the surgery was over - the main of the pain was behind me. Before the surgery - I didnt give a toss what the morphine was doing to my weight! I was taking the anti-inflammatories more in the hope that it would help the swelling go down and bring the weight gain down. When the penny dropped that it was hindering the process (it only took me about 4 days to spot the word "sodium" in the name - I clearly was particularly intelligent and alert) - I stopped them.

Thankfully my weight is nearly back down to my pre-op weight today. I am hoping that I will get a new low over the next week. My exercise for the new week should go well. I have done 2 hours 10 minutes today. My pedometer is up to 16,000 steps for the day so far so the walking build-up is going well.

This week's exercise, if split 3 ways is 6hrs 36min per person. I'm sure we can manage that without difficulty.

I'm taking today off exercise, as I'm not feeling so well--nasty head cold with some allergies thrown in to make it a little less fun. :ack2: I just have no energy today, and am ready for a siesta..lol. Too bad I have to go into the office in a few. I made a list out last night of all I was going to do today, and have only gotten half of it done. :ack2:

Margaret--I can't believe you're up to so much walking again already. Sure you're not pushing it?

I am so pleased that despite gains and everything else that life has thrown at us - we have survived to the last week of the challenge. OK - so we havent ever managed to win a week - but we are here and that is what counts. That is what we said that we wanted to do!
:party::party::party::party::party:

Kimberly - I am sorry that you are not feeling well. Look after yourself. I regularly fail to get anywhere near through any of my task lists - you are not alone!! Dont worry about my walking - I might be getting the distance in but I am not even trying for speed. I just feel so much better about my chances of retaining control over my weight that it is important to me that my stepcounts are up there. Not being able to get my walk done has been a dread of mine for some time. It is quite a challenge to me to deal with that aspect of things.

The good thing is that it should mean that I quickly get my challenge allocation of exercise done. I will keep on counting right up to the half point and post each day.

I agree--I am very pleased that we made it this far considering all that has happened. Whadda team!

I think we stand a good chance of winning it all. Now if I could just stay away from all the tempting food that has come my way. :ack2:

Still feeling cruddy. This cold/allergies (I think it's a combination of both) has settled in my eyes, so it looks like I'm always crying. :ack2: I need to get out for a long walk. The weather has improved a bit--as in it's sunny now. Yesterday was 83F/28C. Today's high was about 45F/7C!! That is a 40 degree drop in fahrenheit. :svengo:

We stand a great chance of winning this if only we can stay away from tempting food. We all get TOM about the same time - and it should be getting behind us all - so with luck we may all get a decent loss this week.

Sorry that you are still feeling cruddy Kimberly. Look after yourself.

The weather on Saturday was lovely - really sunny and nice. I didnt even need a sweatshirt for my afternoon walk - a t-shirt was enough. Today was a bit drizzly so I was back to wearing my jacket.

Week 8—Pamplona to Brussels 19hrs 46min (by train). 6hrs 36min split 3 ways.

Belgium is probably most famous for beer, chocolate and lace. And while the idea of sitting around in lacy underwear drinking beer and eating chocolate might be very appealing to many of you (it certainly is to me :D ), it isn’t very conducive to weight loss, and you’d have far too much fun. ;) Therefore, this last Roadblock isn’t nearly as delightful. Eat 20 Brussels sprouts over the course of the week. I don’t think Brussels sprouts originated in Brussels, and I never ate any while I was there, but oh well, I can’t think of anything else to make you do. :D

Only one person per team needs to do this. However, each teammate must do at least one roadblock, so if you haven't done one yet--this one's for you. Happy eating. :reddevil:

Oh, and congratulations for having made it to the final week. :sifone:

Just to let you know that we have just had our normal Sunday roast. I am sure that you know that we have brussels sprouts most times that we have a roast dinner. Today was no exception and my plate was piled high with veg as per normal. I counted when I ate the sprouts and frankly got bored and lost count somewhere over 30. I certainly had more than 20 - the only question is whether I doubled it or not!

Consider the roadblock done. My walking is coming along nicely (over 20,000 steps today) so my exercise level is doing fine. I ought to get the 50% done this week like I used to. I am currently on over 7 hours.

Well done with the walking and the brussel sprouts!

I finally managed to get some exercise in today--a 65min, 4 mile walk. Eating was probably high sodium, as we had Chinese today. Now that the weekend is over, I'll get back on track with the eating.

Hey girls!
Sorry to have been MIA this weekend. It would seem that the 'net was mysteriously "unavailable" all weekend long. MIL is coming this Tuesday and I have a sneaky suspicion that DH turned off/unplugged the net in hopes of me getting more housework done! LOL
Only took me 2 days to think that one up. And the only reason I think it may even be true is that today when I outright asked him if he had unplugged it, he got a bit of an impish grin. And of course it was back on when I got home from work.
Seems sneaky to me. :biggrinjester:
I can't believe that we are still in the challenge! After all that we have been thru, especially in the last 2 weeks who would have thought we would still be in it. LOL
I will most definately be on my very best behavior this week as we really do have a chance to win! I am soooo excited.
So far I have 3 1/2 hours in of exercise. That is I orderfilled for 3 1/2 hours on Friday.
Add in my 2 hours of Fit for Life (that is if it doesn't go over) plus 1 hour of PowerCore and any walking I get in this week and I will be well past the 6 hours and 36 minutes needed.
Well I am going to go cruise a few diaries and head off to bed. As I am very tired. It was a better work weekend this weekend. So at least I won't have any "leftovers" hanging around!
Way to GO TEAM!!!!!
We are in it to win it!!!!!
WOOHOO!

Chinese food has much to answer for! Having said that - I enjoyed my Chinese meal on Friday - and we do still have to eat. If we denied ourselves everything we would abandon the whole project which would be very counterproductive.

Dawn - I think that it is brilliant that your husband has been getting sneaky and you caught him at it!

You are right - it is truly amazing that we are still in the challenge in the last week. We really are the challenge underdogs when you consider that we are all deep into long term projects not to mention the fact that we all get TOM at the same time. When you add in the events of the past couple of weeks with my short holiday at the expense of the NHS and subsequent sodium gain - any betting money would have had us eliminated.

We have as much chance as anyone to win - and we have to stay focused on that fact.

Our exercise levels are looking fine and we are going to be in there with a great chance right up to the very last day.

The weather has been nice and I have been out for quite a bit of walking. I suspect that Rod will actually think that I have done too much walking today - but I enjoyed it and am fine.

The bottom line is that I have definitely done in excess of the 50% for the challenge. I calculate the 50% to be 9 hours 53 mins - so I have set my scoresheet to that. Let me know if I have done my sums wrong.

Bella--just make sure your H doesn't mess with your internet on Friday before you've updated, or I will drive down to Indiana and beat him up myself!! :smilielol5:

Good luck resisting temptation this week with MIL arriving. I'm sure she'll be stunned at how much weight you've lost. :)

Margaret--Well done with the exercise. I have got 2hrs 10min in so far. I plan on doing 1hr a day to get in 5hrs, 10min. That leaves 4hrs 44min for Bella, so I see no problem with us getting in our exercise.

Our team is really doing well!

Dawn - I too am sure that your MIL will be stunned when she sees your new figure.

The perfect solution is - update Thursday with Thursday's weight so that there is something there so your data counts. Then go in on Friday to update if you can get a slightly lower weight.

I often weigh first thing - and then a while later after walking if I havent eaten or drank much. It can sometimes help to bring things a little lower.

Naturally - I do all the obvious things. The day before - I make sure that I have my water and try to avoid anything high in sodium. I often try to juggle things so that I have salmon the night before a challenge weighing - it has such a good track record for me.

If the internet goes down either day - say to hubby - "oh dear - I need to do this. I will just have to pop round to Sweatpea's house to update it on her computer. I do hope that we dont chat for too long. You know how we are when we start chatting." It might suddenly get fixed before you got out the door.

Thanks girls for the well wishes with the MIL. I can't wait to see her. Especially if she decides to go shopping! As there just might be something in it for me. "hint hint" :biggrinjester:
She is a very generous person and loves to shop.
I think that the internet will "stay fixed". He says that he didn't do anything to it. And........weeell I believe him. We did have it go down for about 2-3 hours on Wednesday so it could be that there truly was something wrong with it. Just seemed fishy timing 'tis all! LOL Though Kimberly's threat of violence just may keep him in line! HA!
If all there is, is 4 hours and 44 minutes for me to do, then my exercise will be done tonight before my class is over! LOL I think that I will still strive to get as much time in as I can.
I still weighed in at about .4 higher than my lowest low weight this morning. Which is about 1.5 lower than last weeks weight. So obviously if I stay on track I will be below last weeks weight. And hopefully I will go to a new low.
Gotta run............there is a house to be super cleaned.
Ciao!

Dawn - it sounds like you got a great MIL there. I hope that she is so impressed with your new figure that she buys you a new outfit. If she loves to shop - she might as well spend her time productively.

It will be great if you get that exercise done tonight. At this rate we will soon be in our regular situation where the maximum other points are in the bag and all we have to worry about is weight loss. Speaking of weight loss - it is great that you are currently nicely down from Friday's weighing. Well done! It would be really great if we could all get down to our low weight - or even manage a new low!!! On today's weighing - I am a pound up on my low weight. We will have salmon on both Wednesday and Thursday to try and help things get back down there.

All this talk of "super-clean" houses - now I have to keep Rod out of the challenge threads too!

Geez, I have had the hardest time trying to get on here. The pages just won't load. :banghead:

Well, I've done 229min of exercise and my weight was at 219.5 this morning. I had a really crazy day, and by the time I had a chance to exercise, I was exhausted. So instead of doing an hour, I just did a 2 mile, 34 min walk. My cals were 1,733, and 1,600 of them were eaten after 6:30pm..lol. I was so busy, I ate a banana quickly before going out the door this morning, and didn't eat again until I got back home from the office. :svengo:

Bella was right--I DO have pink eye. :ack2: And my sore throat is back. :(

I'll be hitting the hay earlier tonight.

Hope you both are doing well. :)

Kimberly well done for getting the weight loss, keeping a limit on your calories and doing the exercise that you managed to get done - despite the most difficult of days. Life is difficult enough when you are feeling ill, but when you add in being too busy to eat (never good as it is easy to lose self-control when the opportunity to eat arises) and internet problems (I sometimes have times when the only thing that doesnt work is this website) - you had a really tough day.

At least one good thing about you being the one who does all the hard work to run these challenges is that if you get an internet problem and cannot get on to post your weight - the deadline cannot slip by and you get eliminated for not posting.

I had a bad food Tuesday - but thankfully a much better Wednesday. Hopefully I will manage to keep a lid on my urge to eat today to bring my weight down.

I really managed to turn things around on Wednesday - doing everything right. I kept a lid on my eating, did an extra long walk, had plenty of fibre and water as per normal, kept up the arnica, had salmon, even reduced the calories in my normal salmon meal and encouraged some much needed toilet activity by having a couple of extra plums.

The bottom line is that I managed to get a new low today - weighing after another extra long walk - so have filled that in on my scoresheet. Obviously I will change it if I manage to get any lower tomorrow.

I am obviously pleased as the last time I got a new low was 13th April.

The timing for the challenge is perfect.

Howdy girls~
Sorry I have been (or would seem to be) MIA.
I know that you two both understand as the MIL is here. And with that has been added "stuff" to do.
Like I need anymore "stuff" to do!!! LOL :smilielol5:
Got on the scale this morning with a weight of 188 even. I was a bit disappointed but not surprised. Since we had spaghetti last night for supper.
Though I did keep it to a minimum.
Hopefully tomorrow will show a better number. I have kept a pretty good watch on my cals all week and did make it to my PowerCore class last night. Which put me at 4 1/2 hours of exercise. I did not make it to class on Tuesday like I wanted to due to MIL coming in.
And since dh has taken off with the car I will be forced to walk to the Y tonight to make it to my Fit for Life class.
Which will automatically add on 80 minutes (40 minutes if it rains and I am forced to find a ride home) plus 60 more minutes for the class.
Well I got to go make supper so will catchup later.

Margaret--Congrats on hitting a new low!! That's great news, and very well-timed as you said. :hurray:

Bella---Hopefully the scale will reward you tomorrow for all the exercise you did tonight. :D

I have a guaranteed .5lb loss for the week, as the scale said 219.5 again this morning. I rode my stationary bike for 1hr 11min tonight while watching Jeopardy and Survivor..lol. So I got in 5hrs this week. My online calculator says I burned 1,309 calories on my bike tonight, so that will help make up for the 2,239 calories I ate today. My bmr is supposedly 1,765 calories, so I should still have a deficit for the day. I would love it if I got back to 217.5 tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. :blush5:

It's a good thing this is the last day of the challenge, b/c H and I are going to a "Tequila Party" tomorrow night. :smilielol5: I will not be drinking any tequila, however, as the mere smell of it makes me wanna :puke: I'll have wine instead. :beerchug:

It's been a fun and sometimes scary challenge..lol. I'm glad you two were my teamies--you're the best! However we do tomorrow night, the Omega-3 rocked it out. :)

Good luck to us all tomorrow!!!
