UPDATED: Remember, a full hour will earn one point for exercise. One half hour = 1/2 point.

Hey guys, this is your support team for the next 6 full weeks! I would like to see you all supporting each other! Don't just stop in to post your weight and leave. I know we will all have those weeks, but lets really try to lean on each other. REMEMBER if you drop out, your costing your team points!! Its up to this team to keep each other in check and make sure we're all hanging in there!

Here is your chart, please copy and paste Your weigh in and points are to be calculated from the previous week. For example: on aug. 01 you weigh in....then keep track of your exercise and mini challenge points throughout the week. When you weigh in on August 08, post your loss and the points earned throught that past week. I hope I explained that right? Let me know if you have questions!

Hey team! just checking in for the start of the challenge. Letting you guys know I'm shooting for accumulating ~60 points over the 6 weeks of the challenge - 3lbs lost per week, and 7hrs exercise per week. My minimum weekly exercise is 3x1hr weight lifting and 1x3hr golfing. I sometimes get in 1-3 hours of DDR, and/or 1-3 hours of walking in as well.

I might not accumulate the most points, but I see no reason why I won't stick it out for the full 6 weeks.

I'll add my chart to my first post here so its always on the front page for updates:

Hi Team!! I'm so excited! This is my first challenge. I want the next six weeks to be particularly successful because at the beginning of September my dance team is starting up with practice again. As of today I am ten pounds down!

My goals for the next 6 weeks: lose 12 pounds (2 pounds a week), exercise every other day (4 times a week) doing cardio and weights, eat more fruits and veggies, and keep drinking more water. Right now I'm doing 30 min. of cardio on the elliptical, and about 45 min. of dumbbell exercises. I might start upping my cardio to 45 minutes to give myself a full 1 1/2 hours of exercise per day, but we'll see.

I hope our team (everyone really) has much success with this challenge!

I am posting the chart now so I'll be ready for tomorrow's weigh-in.

WOW! I love our team!!! I am gonnna rack up those exercise points like crazy because I'm going on holiday and there is a gym and a swimming pool where I'm staying. I'm also doing hiking and other activities so I'll keep a note on what I've done. I'll have internet access but unfortunately I won't be able to weigh myself until I get back on the 28th.. but I won't drop out because that would cost us 10 points!!

My goal for the next four weeks is to maintain my weight by eating healthily (avoiding the cruise buffet) and exercising right. Hopefully when I get back I will start to lose weight and am aiming for around 3lbs in the last 2 weeks :) When it comes to filling in how much we weigh each week, I will simply put down the same as what I am today... so without further delay...

Don't know what's going on with me today...yesterday I was at 184.8 with a ten pound loss and I was so happy, now this morning I have gained a whole pound (185.8). The only reason I can think of is maybe I didn't drink enough yesterday. I was doing mega shopping at this jewelry and gift show we have in our convention center and I was on my feet for 8 hrs straight, walking around carrying a very heavy tote bag. I brought my own lunch and stayed within my weight watchers points. So already this morning I have drank a 20oz bottle of Powerade Zero. I'm hoping this is just my body retaining water since I don't think I drank enough yesterday...hope to see the weight go down tomorrow.

Heya everyone! Good luck for the challenge! I'm planning to get around ~50pts, hopefully, including weightloss + exercise. Like Mar, I'm going to have 7hrs exercise/week, and lose 8lbs? (I hope! I hope!) Exercise being kung fu and ballet, with both being amateur. Heeheehee.

lochmond, have fun during your cruise! your iron resolve to eat well is impressive. :)
bikinibound, 1 1/2 hours PER day?! wow. *cheers cheers* And aww I hate it when my weight fluctuates up. Don't worry, it'll go down again sooner than you think, what with you kickass exercise routine. :)
Mar, DDR is awesome. I'm going to steal your idea, if that's okay. I'll DDR if my exercise points look low one week. :)

Steal away and enjoy! that "game" is so much fun!

Just stopping by to check in. Hope everyone is off to a good start in the challenge. I started off the week with some bonus points. On July 31, I got my weight down to 349.8. On Aug 1, my weight jumped up to 353.0. The only thing that makes sense is retained water - of course I didn't eat a surplus of >10,000 calories for the day :p. So, to avoid feeling bad about the gain, I just consider them bonus points for this challenge :). Once my body gets rid of the excess stored water again, thats an extra 3pts for the challenge I wasn't planning on :).

I also got some bonus exercise pts I wasn't planning on. I live in cleveland, but my hometown is 3 hours away. When I make it down home, sometimes I go out golfing with my dad and brothers. Other times, we meet roughly half way and find a golf course to try. Yesterday, we met in erie, PA to do some golfing. We golfed 18holes, and I walked the entire time out in the sun and heat. Unfortunately, there was no water available on the course, so its going to make it challenging to normalize my body's water again. On the plus side, the round of golf took 5 hours, so thats 5 exercise pts already that I wasn't even planning on.

So, I guess I'm off to a good start so far. Hope everyone else is doing great as well!

Actually Nidella, it's 1 1/2 hours of exercise every other day. When I said "per day" I meant per exercise day, whoops. But thanks for your encouragement!! And the weight did drop down .8 today. :hurray: So I am almost back where I should be.

That is a great way to think about it! I had the same situation, though not as much of a gain. (I gained 1 lb over night.) Mine was due to retaining water as well since I didn't get enough water the day before, so yesterday I made sure I drank a bunch of water. Now I'm much closer to what I was two days ago. I'm going to think of that 1 lb gain/loss as an extra point as well! Just wanted to say thanks for helping me to view it positively!

Did my hour of weight lifting yesterday, so there's another point. I'm fighting with the scale though. I thought I had made it down under 350, but sunday, monday, and tuesday, my weight read 353, 352, and 353 respectively. I know its just water, but its still frustrating. I drank a ton of water yesterday to try to signal my body to start flushing it out, and it aparently didn't help. Oh well, this will pass, hopefully in time to get back on track for the month.

bikinibound - down 0.8lbs? That's great!! =)
Mar - boo, yes, the scale sucks. >=(

I'm just checkin' in. Did a serious hike yesterday, from 11am - 4:30pm. The mountain had THREE peaks. I wibbled and emo'd and took photos up AND DOWN the whole thing with a group of friends. And though it was fun, by the end of it, I just wanted to curl up in a little bruised ball and spend some quality self-pitying time by myself.

Moral of story, when at the beginning of the hike there's a sign that says "hike is not a walk in the park!: bring adequate fitness level!" I will intelligently decide just to eat my packed sandwiches at the bottom of the peak.

Have a good day everyone. =)

nidella, sounds like your hike was a good workout then ;). I always get myself into trouble on hikes because I seem to forget that I have to make it back to my car. If I go in one direction until I'm tired and worn out, the return trip kills.

Got 3 more exercise pts yesterday. 9 holes of golf - took 3 hours because its a league, and our league golfs sllooooooowwwlllyy. Planning on getting 2 pts tonight - 1 hour weight lifting at the gym, and my wife has already said she wants to do DDR tonight so that will be another hour.

Still not doing so hot with the weight loss pts. Woke up this morning, scale said 353.0 - yes, again. Its mocking me now. I can actually see it laughing at me when I step on it. Tomorrow I have a plan though. I'll tell the scale that if it doesn't show me what I want to see, I'll intentionally gain enough weight to crush it. A little threat and intimidation can't hurt, right? :p

In all seriousness, its a little frustrating, but its gotta turn around. I know its water weight. I mean, I've already drank 67.6oz of water (propel fitness water) this morning, and I'm just now starting to feel like I maybe have to pee a little, but not quite enough yet where I'm motivated to get up from my desk and walk to the bathroom at work. Maybe by the time I'm done writing this post. Its starting to get a little frustrating though because I still want to hit my monthly goals. I'm half expecting that at any time over the course of a couple days, I could see a 3-6lb whoosh - the 3 lbs of water I've been hording, plus whatever weight I've lost in fat during this first week of august. Time will tell.

Everyone else doing ok so far? This thread seems to be the least active of the 3 groups in the challenge, I hope that doesn't mean everyone has bailed on me already.

LOL that sounds ingenious. Scales deserve everything they get.

Keep up the good work you guys :)

I finally arrived at my hotel late last night! It's so nice here!! For breakfast my family and I went to a buffet at the hotel restaurant, and I sat there eating my fruit salad whilst they chomped down on bacon and waffles. I went to the gym as well for an hour, it's so cool because the machines overlook the pacific ocean and it is just so beautiful! We can do this team Luna nueva!!*

Hey hey hey guys - sorry for not checking in before. I've been working away and its been very hectic. I'm also off on hols for two weeks tonight but will do my exercise and check in whenever I can find an internet cafe!! Might have to cut me a bit of slack and add up my two weeks worth of points on the 22nd though :D

ACK I skipped ballet class for the whole week! Also, from going on a huge eating spree after hiking, I've gained 2lbs!! >:0 LE SIGH.

Mar - LOL sounds like you're still going strong. You go show that scale who's boss! It definitely seems like just water weight...you've been doing so much exercise! :0
jjjay - WOOT holidays for 2 weeks. Just enough time so you won't get bored but still enough time for major relaxing! =)

Hey everyone! glad to see more people posting.

No exercise for me last night. I spent my evening after work getting some work done on a project I've been putting off for a couple months. Tonight I will get at least an hour in the gym, and maybe another hour of DDR.

Good news, the scale was terrified of my threat :p. in the last 2 days, the scale has dropped 2.4lbs. I expect it to keep dropping over the next few days. I've been drinking a ton of water to encourage my body to flush the excess. Seems to be working.

I have a bit of a setback though. I have a foot injury, and I'm not sure what it is or how it happened. There is swelling on the inside of my foot, on the side of my arch, but back towards the heel. The swelled area is about the diameter of a golf ball. It hurts to put pressure on the area, but I can walk just fine and do everything I need to do to get through the day (as long as I don't step wrong and put pressure on the swollen area). When it happened, I was just walking around working on my project last night and don't recall stepping on anything or twisting my ankle or kicking anything or dropping anything on my foot, I just noticed a discomfort in my foot. I was wearing running shoes (they're my everday sneakers). If anyone has any ideas on what this might be, I'm all ears! :bigear: Hopefully this will go away soon with no effect on my exercise or weight loss and without the need to see a doctor.

Thats all from me today, everyone else keep up the great work!
