Weight-Loss
I think it's because were missing a few people who arnt logging points... I wonder whats going to happen if some people just dont come back and participate...

There are one or two people that are tracking their points in case we have no shows this week so they can jump in as replacements. Lena is one of them. But I would be surprised if ambalove didn't get on here on the weekend and log in. Not sure who else is missing.

Well I pushed myself to do 45 boring minutes on the elliptical at my house. That's the good news. The bad news is that I feel like munching out so bad right now! Already had 1000 calories and we have a deli delivery for H and the baby on the way which includes a Hershey chocolate bar and popcorn (of which I've already had 2 servings of a prior bag). I've had enough popcorn but the chocolate.. If I screw up today I will need to make up for it in my calories on Sat, Sun and Mon. I just can't screw up during the first week of the challenge, so I MUST get back in line tomorrow. I figure I'll limit myself to 3 glasses of wine later, at 146 calories per glass. Not sure what else I'll be having while out but I know my will power could continue on its downward path. We may go to a very high end steakhouse but it is required to list all teh food calories right on the menu because it is part of a national chain called Capital Grill (we have a calorie on menu law here). At least that way I can monitor the calories.

I need to do another 15 on the elliptical! TTYL

Damn, that sucks. was it bad form putting down the weights or it just went and it didn't matter what was going on? remember, team, all this is for naught if you get hurt. Stay healthy.

It just went. It does that sometimes. I think it's because the cardio I did right before that was uphill and very strenuous. It just happens...

OK Karebare, I like your verbal abuse--it's kinky and it's bringing out the masochist in me ;). This thread is really making me determined to keep my ass in line!

Yesterday I was over in my calories by 200 :( HOWEVER I was so active that I still got a 100-200 calorie deficit :D. Today I went to Yoga 2 with Kelly--it's such a difficult class, and LO AND BEHOLD, I GOT INTO PINCHA MAYURASANA FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! :hurray:

Awww, Cassy, it's all a matter of doing things over and over again.

Before September 2008, I had done yoga only about a few times a month, and at times in my life, once or twice a week, no more, since I was 19. I had managed to get to the mid-range of a healthy BMI through better nutrition, running, weight training, and kickboxing from ages 22-26. 4 months ago I joined the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Santa Cruz, CA, and ALSO in the month of September, started waking up at 6am to practice on my own for 30-45 minutes (10 minutes of that time meditating, chanting, and doing pranayama or breathing exercises). I also started reading more Buddhist publications and went on a Yoga retreat. I've come pretty far in the past few months, but I dedicated a LOT of time and energy into it; however, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. Let's put it this way: I CHOSE THE WHOLE ENCHILADA. 2 months ago I tried this and fell on my face and almost hurt my neck. So I'm really really glad! :hurray: I just want to prove that we can do amazing things, it's a matter of putting time and energy and dedication, and that goes for anything--even Pincha Mayurasna!

The only thing i really can't do is i think it's called the shoulder pose... that thing we all used to do as i kid... yeah i was really shocked to find out like 10 years later i can;t do it lol... i'm thinking when i dont have a huge gut in the way it may be easier... the only other one i have trouble holding for a full 3 seconds is i think its called the dancer... lol im a novice but i enjoy the little bit i do... uh do..
one day i'll probably end up taking clases but for now the few i do with wii fit are good enough for me :D

You're doing great, most people don't even try!

When I was chubbier, I had a hard time bending over a spread leg to touch my toes in a wide leg seated position, because my love handle was like an obstacle in my way :cuss: Also, I don't think my neck would like it if I was much heavier, standing on my head. But progress in Yoga is to be looked at like this: you are perfect the way you are. Within that perfection, you have prana or the breath, which is the vital, life-sustaining force of living beings and vital energy. Like Qi in Chinese philosophy, connecting with the breath and the vital force, you can gently push yourself beyond your seeming edges. With increased strength and a more firm mind/body/spirit connection, comes a healthier body. Yoga can give you the courage to develop a positive, nurturing relationship with your body in a way that no motivational speaker, magazine, or heck, ANY outside influences can--because the deeper capacity for self love comes from WITHIN. And when you finally love yourself with all your heart from within, the beautiful body just follows suit, even if it doesn't even change physically. Although it probably will, with a healthy diet and exercise.

And also, UC Berkeley released info that women who did Yoga had a better body image than women who did cardio and weights alone. So there! Keep it up, woman! GO WII FITT!!!
