Summer Six-Pack

Oh really? Nope, we aint got none of them beaches here, but we do have more lake area than anywhere else in the U.S. strangely enough. What part of OK are ya gonna be in?

haha...i apologize, youll have to excuse my jumping to conculsions, as i have never been to oklahoma. i would have never guessed the thing about lake area.

ill be in tulsa working a co-op job. ive heard that tulsa is a pretty nice city. im pretty excited about it.

Tulsa's still a bit of a drive from OKC, but hey...if ya get the chance to break away and can make it down to OKC...I'd welcome ya to come flip the tire and throw the keg ;)

well i've always been pretty skinny, i'm 5'11 and i weigh 130 pounds. But i do do crunches and hanging leg raises too, my abs didn't used to show that much but now since i'm so skinny and i'm building ab muscle, they show more.

Haha thanks! :D Nah it just looks like a 4 pack to me. Well actually a 5 pack. My lower abs don't show too much.

Whoa calm down. i'm sure you've had results from working out but you still want to look better than you do now. I don't see how wanting to look better makes me a pansy.

ok i understand the desire to look better, because everyone always wants more and more results. but you were making it sound like you had nothing. that's why i said maybe you need new eyes so you can see what you got.


ON ANOTHER TOPIC, THOUGH RELATED TO SIX PACKS...

I have done about two weeks of cardio, 35-45 minutes on the bike almost everyday with eating less. no weight lifting though and I cut down my eating considerably.

Good news: muscles still look the same time, and considerably more ripped
lost fat all over (well duh cause thats the way the body loses fat haha)

Bad news: still got some belly fat (the "spare tire") which isnt that bad, but doesnt seem to be going away. It has gotten better.

here my question... I think I should start lifting weights WITH the cardio now. that's what I did a few summers ago, and thats the only time in my I life that I got REALLY ripped. I was weightlifting and biking a lot, and I was a summer camp counselor (thats some cardio right there haha).

So... what should I do? add some weights? or do another two weeks of cardio only? or... I used to swim in highschool. Should I do swimming?

i say add weights, i don't understand why you took them out anyway. weight lifting burns a lot of calories, and gets the metabolism way up there. but don't do cardio everyday if you're lifting. and just do whatever cardio seems to work the best..
 
Haha sorry guess i just sounded too whiny. Didn't mean to though!! But yeah i think you should definitely add weights also, then you shouldn't be losing muscle either.
 
Why i stopped lifting weights......because it gave me a "monster" appetite. Seriously, I get super hungry after I lift. In fact, I feel hungry the whole day, almost like I just want to eat all day! Do any of you guys get that?

So, I looked at it this way. Here's how I'm going to get more cut:
1) Long sessions of cardio are a must - in my opinion, the best way to burn fat.
2) reduce eating, and make sure only healthy food. no cheats
3) give up weights cause I'm just gonna want to eat like a WOLVERINE

and so far, its worked. in fact, my arms and chest did not shrink (thank goodness) and look much bigger because my stomach is smaller. HOWEVER, I think I'm getting to a point where I will need to add weight, as you guys have said, because it adds some more calorie burning to the plan, PLUS - weights are great for toning, especially the midsection.

biggie - you got a good six pack. if you want more definition, go for it. i'm sure you can.

mreik - the weight lifting does raise the metabolism, so thats a good point. but that only seems to help people with already fast metabolisms. otherwise, I would never have had to do this cutting phase in the first place =) Good tips though, keep up the good work. question: i think you said that you were beginning a cutting phase earlier than you wanted to? might I ask why? and arent you already pretty cut?

Yeah i definitely get a monster appetite after i lift. On the days i lift i literally eat almost everything in the house because i'm so hungry. Good luck with your cardio and everything! Hope you get exactly what you want! Then you'll be the one with the full on six pack! :)
 
you're probably soo hungry bc ur metabolism is goin a million miles a minute, i know id eat cardboard after an intense workout if it was all i had lol. but if you can eat healthy, and a little less, and control that hunger itll really help..

im cutting early because i slighty tore a ligament in my elbow(nothr forum).. so the only lifting ill be doing is with my legs and core.. so i decided to cut, i want the 'perfect abs' for the beaches. after all, i love the beaches, all the beaches :)
 
I look at it this way. it takes a lot of time to build muscle, so logically, it would take a lot of time to lose muscle (as long as you don't fast, or get trapped in the desert with only water for a week).

how did you tear it, and how long will it take to heal? fast recovery, it's too bad you don't have my mutant healing factor.
