Steve's Journal

I haven't seen a whole lot of "cash for blood" but a lot of free t-shirts as well as the points card type things that Firefreak already mentioned. We have blood drives at work and most times there is a drawing for a free gift basket or something similar. I'm not sure how many new donors it brings in but it's a nice concept.

Each time I give blood they do some basic lab work and send you the results. Total cholesterol, liver enzymes and a few other tests. So, it's kind of a beneficial thing. Give blood, get free bloodwork!

Next blood drive for me, December 18th!

My immediate boss organizes a blood drive each february for office employees. The big man then gives us a the time off to go donate and to the end of the day thereafter.

My FD and most others on the island organize blood drives. We offer free dinner afterwards...not just snacks and juice. Another does a whole bar-b-q for those who donate.

me loves you also ILM...but shhhh don't tell sparrow:boxing_smiley:

My lips are sealed ;) But I think Sparrow's OK with it :)

My BF is OK with it, too :azzangel:

I know! :) I am busy trying to decide who to take to the fire department holiday party...any takers?

some new photos from this week. I'm a particular fan of the 2nd one...can see some nice definition coming from the shoulder-bicep transition. :)

Wow! That's a big difference. You are getting some definition, and not just in the delts. Everything is coming along quite nicely :)

You sexy beast!

Hey, what are your tats supposed to be? I can't quite make them out. They look like lovebirds.

My BF has a stylized phoenix on his left side down by his external obliques and it wraps around his hip bone, back and goes down his butt. He's got another tat on his right shoulder blade that wraps around his posterior delt and lat. They are absolutely beautiful. He got both of them done in Brasilia.

Thanks ILM. Glad someone is reading! You can see better pics of the birds in my album. :)

Yes I can really feel myself getting stronger. Was able to do 3 sets of 6 pull-ups last night, then did 2 isometric hangs with inverse pullups after. I've been doing 6 or 7 pull-ups, then 4 or 5, then 3 or 4 by failure in each set. Getting 3x6 was nice...i suppose I am also a few pounds lighter too.

why thank you ILM.

I am tireddddd....my forearms are killing me from the tower climb today. wow.

That's just totally sick ;)

I bet your arms are tired! I love heights. I get a really good adrenalin rush from them. Rappelling is great fun, too :)

Awesome! I miss climbing SOOOO much!! The wife and I used to trad climb Yosemite and Tahoe. :( Stupid triathlon gets in the way of everything.

I wouldn't climb that tower even if for a new Orbea Ordu in my size.

I have no idea what that is, but honestly its not that bad. If you're tired when climbing you attach your positioning lanyard and hang out...literally. You always have 3 points of contact between yourself and the ladder and you always have at least 1 arresting device attached to the structure in case you slip. you'll fall no more than 6 feet before the device stops your fall. its a bungie and lessens the arresting force. you are also wearing a full body harness.

I have a terrible fear of heights:speechless:

I was also going to say how horrified that picture made me. I HATE heights! But for a new Orbea Ordu in my size-uh DUH!

6 feet isn't very far when you're attached to a harness :D

Remember when you were young and you climbed 6-8' frost fences and jumped down from the top? So six feet isn't really that far, is it? ;)
