Steve's Journal

6 feet isn't very far when you're attached to a harness :D

Remember when you were young and you climbed 6-8' frost fences and jumped down from the top? So six feet isn't really that far, is it? ;)

It is when you're suspended THAT high! One foot is too far! When I was little I knew the ground was there in 6-8 feet :) I get dizzy on the high dive :D

I once bungee jumped to conquer my fear...and I was scared out of my flippin mind. They had to push me off! I did the zip line and a ropes course recently at a youth camp I was a counselor for hoping to make progress in this dept...that didn't work either. I applaud you thrill seekers!

Compared those new pics to the original ones and WOW! nice work! good to see how you're progressing.
And that tower climb looks awesome! I haven't done any climbing (once upon a time I did rock climbing) or absailing for nearly four years, but I remember how much fun it was. I'm dead jealous

I've been a climber for years and I'm still scared of heights. It even bothers me when someone walks to the edge of something as well. I don't think climbing has helped my fear one bit but it's made me better at tying knots. :)

Haha sparrow. Yes it is a wary thing to fall. The harness allows for a higher arresting force which will be no more than 1800 lbs of force.

Dutes thanks! I am glad to have people notice the difference.

Just got home from the turkey trot. Did the 5 miles in 45:xx. Was doing a 9:10 pace for mile 1, hit mile 3 in 37:30, slowed it down between 3 and 4 and picked it back up to about an 8:30 pace for the last 0.5 miles. I've earned some turkey and mashed potatoes!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! :)

I hope everybody had a very nice Thanksgiving!!! We already had ours in October to give us time for a deload before the Xmas turkey dinner :D

I don't have a fear of heights, which is rather stupid because I think we're supposed to have a fear of heights for a reason.

The only fear I have is the fear of being attacked or raped.

Official time for the run last Thursday was 45:42.6 Not too shabby considering I hadn't run since October. I was hella sore on Friday, but managed a trip to the gym anyways. Was a good workout but had to end it due to my acid reflux kicking up.

just an update.

have switched my lifting to a low rep high weight plan. max of 8 reps per set, 2 or 3 sets each. if i hit 8 reps in all 3 sets (like my bench today at 135 pounds) I will up it the following day.

5 mile race this coming saturday. will be working on my running too, hopefully without aggravating my left calf again.

Ran a 5k yesterday. no lifting. did my stretches and calf exercises to help keep my calves from tightening up.

as i posted in the "its funny" thread...my jeans fell off. not just were loose around my waist and were showing some plumbers crack, but straight fell off down to my mid thigh...and this all was right after washing and drying them. :)

Hey FF,

May I ask....what was your time for the 5k?

I am planning to run one in late February. Congrats on the pants falling off!!!

lol. Hopefully this was in the privacy of your own home?!

This reminds me of my own "most embarrassing moment"...which was not in the privacy of my own home. :(

Did my 2 miles yesterday in prep for the 5 miler tomorrow.

Did some pull-ups and push ups too. Left shoulder is UNHAPPY today about doing those.

backed out due to the weather. wind chill of 13. I know I know. I actually was better that I did. I barely had enough time to get the stuff done I needed to get done w/o having had to drive to the race.

and i got up this morning and my calves hurt like a mother! I have no idea what I did!

13... Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Yes very brrrrrrzzzzleeeee. And now today its 60. Really making my immune system happy!:angry3:

and both my calves are in pain still. not excrutiating pain...just uncomfortable pain in certain positions.
