Sparrows Experiment

20 miles today

Still didn't look at my garmin (it was too dark, I started really early) until the end. Used Lara bars today. I still don't know if those will work for me. They came up in the middle of the run. Ended up 8:42 pace but it wasn't as "happy" as last week, for sure. At least its done.

Wow! That is a heckuva pace for that distance.

I'd like to say it was easy and this thing is going to be "no problem" but it wasn't, and it probably isn't. ha. I did that with no bumpers today. The race has some inclines and I don't care how small they are, I won't be used to them. I am happy that it was a pace I settled into. I didn't have an idea of my pace until it was over, but I still suspect I'll be in the 9-9:30 average range for the real deal.

Okay, I'm wearing heels to church and I want you all to know, much to my kid's delight, I had to scoot on my butt to get down the stairs! I'm so sore!

Swam 2000 today. Got talkin to someone in the pool and it stabotaged my workout, but its good to be social too :)

Its a beautiful day here today.

I'm still sore but totally functional, and not scooting on my butt downstairs anymore! I think I could run again if I needed to...but I have no need at the moment ;) It was good to loosen up in the pool. I'm flyin' high and optomistic about the race.

hahaha. nice. maybe one day i will run 20 miles and will have to scoot down some stairs myself...oh wait..my apartment is on teh ground floor.

I felt a little wiped today. I think the 20 miler is still in my bones. Its that deep muscle fatigue-the kind you can't really push through.

Spin class-I lasted 45 minutes but never really felt my groove.
Run-same deal. I couldn't get into it and my muscles were just so tired. I did 1.5 miles at a whoppin 9 mile pace and called it good
weights-used a new routine today. Just used the day as a trial. Most everything was 2x12

Squats: 135#
Leg Press: Just used the bar
Single Leg Press: just used the bar and couldn't achieve 90 degree bend, it was still too heavy
Single Leg extention: this is one I'm going to probably see a lot of improvement on. I'm weak here 20#.
walking lunges: with 15# bar, dipped twice and held up back leg straight before pulling it through as the leading leg. I did 30 forward and 30 backwards. Trying to keep balanced with the backward lunges was really unique.
Shoulder Press-Squat to press #12 DB
Lat Pulldown 70#
Seated row 70#
Bent arm pull down 30#
Tri extention 30#
Side Plank (1.5 min) and other side (1.5 min)
Front Plank (2 min)
Front Plank-bent elbow hold (3 seconds at lowest)
Twist-supine on bender ball and then without bender ball
Hip Bridges (used both legs but it was supposed to be single

Seems like a lot but it went fast and only took about 45 minutes. I'm going to condense it all into supersets and a more strategic flow in the weight room so it will be less the next time.

You could merge some exercises too, like...

Side Plank and Cable Row
Power Clean and Press

Did you do anything like push-ups or bench presses?

Hello Pot, this is kettle... :)

Ummm... weren't you just telling ME to take it easy. Holy smokes, I'm starting to feel lazy compared to you.

The front planks had a bent elbow hold. Basically a push up but holding it in the bent position for 3 seconds and coming back to plank. Didn't feel like doing much chest after doing 2 sets of 12 of that!

hey now! ha! I could run with that...but I won't. I'll just say I don't think anyone will ever call you lazy tsil. You're running sub 7 miles a week after the hardest race of your life and feel like you're "losing fitness"! lol.

Like I said, it looked like a lot but it wasn't. It was me flying from machine to machine just to test the waters of what exercises need to be grouped and on what days. It wasn't as hard as it might've read. Also my weights were very low compared to where I've been in the past. I was disappointed in that.

Good luck man, seems good so far :)

LOL wow, my first "man" comment. Do I sound like a man? Maybe I look like a man, yipes!

Still feeling very wiped out. I feel fine when I'm not working out but at the gym I'm feeling super tired in my workouts. My legs still have a deep level of fatigue.

1 hour spin
1 mile run
shoulder/back/bi/tri weights

Yes 1 mile run. I both got very bored and didn't feel like fighting how tired my legs were feeling. My all time high this week is 2 1/2 miles! LOL. I'm a tad concerned that I can't run and its Thursday already. Saturday is a 12 miler and around the corner.

You're supposed to feal tired. You're just out of your comfort zone. If you feel fatigued but can run... then run. If you feel like you can't run then don't. This is normal. I guess a better way of saying it is if you can keep good form while performing the workout then go ahead. Otherwise, skip it.

You're going to be ok -- Man. :)

Meanies!

Thanks tsil. Today it was a matter of my knees hurting and I really was losing form so I'm glad I made the right decision. I worry because I guess I just don't want to be "losing fitness" now do I? ;) 2 miles between long runs seems pretty shabby.

peace out my brothas :D

Hey Man,

Who's the chick in your photo?
