Sparrows Experiment

and with your PM I see how you thought I was making fun of Stingo. BUT I wasn't. I was funnin with you. You are trying all sorts of new stuff and I thought it was funny some of the things. I think they are funny, because I DON'T know what they are. SO I made fun.

Stingo- IU wasn't making fun of you bro.

Sparrow- I am sorry for posting my post. NOT really I am not sorry for the post, I am sorry for the effect it had. That was not my intention at all.

FF

Jeez the juicy posts are always gone before I see them. Thankfully Sparrow quoted it. To be honest I had no idea what ya were talking about FF lol, so all's well that ends well here.

Edited to add: What I didn't say originally is that even though I didn't know what you were talking about, my guess was that you were using them as euphemisms for something else.

Thought I'd take the day off but my husband was interested in NOT taking the day off so we went to the gym.

I thought I'd run but as I was running a little I realized I was going to be WAY over that 10% a week (or 15% or 20%!) rule so I stopped after a mile. I have a long run the day after tomorrow and there was a little tweaking in the shins today. Better safe than sorry.

Instead I did the eliptical for an hour (B-O-R-I-N-G as heck) and even at level 15 going forwards or backwards and fast my heartrate couldn't get above 128. Guess it was a good fat burning day.

If you're not finding an ergo tough enough then you're not working hard enough on it. I know international level rowers who are absolutely exhausted after ergos.
If you want a solid-as-hell workout on a rowing machine I'll send you the ergo program my coach has me on for my rowing training.

The machines we have at our gym seem to begin working on momentum after a while. Once I get it to a certain speed and intensity its not hard to maintain. I crank it to the highest resistance there is. I dont know if they're just ancient or what but I cannot make it work for me.

8.15 mile run with a buddy early today. Went her pace, ended up at 8:30 average and I was really happy with how comfortable it felt. I had a lot left in the tank.

Sparrow, I haven't gotten a chance to read your whole journal (169 pages!!) but I see you were looking for something challenging, do you do any races? Like Triathlons or marathons? I know my trainer does a lot of those to challenge herself.

Hi Alicia, Yes I do races. This is my 3rd year with distance running races and second with triathlons. This summer I did a sprint tri and olympic relay as well as participated in a half ironman last month. I've done various half marathons and I'm currently training for a full in December. I'm just trying to mix things up a little in the gym on top of training and trying not to take myself too seriously ;)

I hope in a couple months to know enough about what you are doing to mock your efforts directly. :D To this end, I have been paying close attention. To your ah, techniques.

Is that how much money you made? If so, It looks like you got your best rate from the 6x50 hard/easy. And cool down, by your listing, was free.

Hmm, that sounds really odd. What split are you maintaining? I mean I can maintain a 2:20/500M Split for 15-odd km, but try maintaining a 1:41/500m split for just 4x500m pieces puts me on the floor. Make sure you have the resistance at max, and get the split down. There's no reason an ergo should be easy, if it is you're just not working at a low enough split.

That is if you're even interested in using the ergo that is ;)

Well its nice to supplement with when I don't feel like a pool or weight workout. I have no idea on the splits. I just go do it and don't pay attention to anything but the time. I'll tinker with it a little and see what I come up with.

Stingo-nice
Focus-wow. You and Stingo need to go play, you both have way too much time on your hands:p

Hey, sparrow.. why not start taking muay thai or bjj or something while you're messing around? Should be new and different, so good.. and you can learn to smash faces. Y'know, just in case Jesus is busy when **** goes down. :D

If you can't see your 500m split press 'change display' or something similiar depending on the ergo (most gyms use concept 2 ergos), you can also check out wattage output as well as distance, time etc. But check your split, you might find that you're simply working at too easy a split, if thats so just get it down until you find what works for you.
