Seuss' Hop On Pop - Shape Shifting @40ish

wow,, you have really lost 7-8 lbs... your avatar looks like you've gained a pile and aged terribly-- haha

ok, since this is your thread,,, there is probably a two pound cheat there since i weighed myself "post workout",, like - take the drippy sweaty clothes off and step on the scale... HA!

but I did take a wood pole on my run-- it was awesome dude.. people didn't even look for 2 seconds, let alone stare... the fear an inense workout can invoke on the mediocre is wonderfully delicious.

goodnight

Day 28...

Not a bad day-- got up, boot camp with the wife while the kiddos watched from the sideline (although my son -- almost 6 -- tried to keep up with us off and on). Then all the other "stuff" for the day.

Not gonna ramble too much...need to get some sleep and get ready for tomorrow!

Day 29...

Fun day...took the boy to his basketball class and read NROL while he practiced dribbling. Good read so far--

Got back and we all went to Schrek the Third. Kids had a ball and we all had the bad popcorn with butter. Came home and grilled steak paired with some couscous. Now it's just laundry time...

Day 30...

Not a bad day-- boot camp is done so I did a couple sets of pull ups and dips (10 each with 40 lbs help), then did 5k on the rowing machine with a 2.05/500m split. All in all, not a bad workout, but I'm still anxious to get to the weights.

Tomorrow I talk to my doc-- hopefully good news. Then I just gotta find a trainer to help me out...

hey man 10 pull ups is great man... When you are all the way up, add a squeeze of the blades and you may find your strength increase a bit quicker. It is a small hint that helps the back alot...

I'll try that next time-- for over and underhand pull ups? I'm guessing yes--

yes, for both,, it give the central core muscles a chance to play.. it does something,, made a huge difference for me.

And in any of these types of things, a slow controlled motion is better... yada yada yada..

I just want to be able to do 25 full hanging, elbows loose, all the way up to chin pull-ups, narrow and wide grip. (VERY FEW athletes can do it-- kind of like handstands) - how are you doing with those?

I'll slow it down on the pull ups-- more pinch and slow down. I did the wide grip overhand and the narrow grip underhand. I haven't done any of the handstand press ups in a while. I'll get back on those tomorrow night after the gym.

Thanks dude!

Day 31...

Crap day. Talked with my doc, but felt like I got the brush off :(...and I hate that. That and some other crap put me in a mood.

Ran a couple miles tonight after my better half got back from her spinning class. Felt a little clearer in the head...but still a bit on the edgy side. A good night sleep should do wonders I suppose.

Day 32...

Much better day-- Did some thinking about my doc visit and made some phone calls. I'll be pursuing a personal trainer that will be comfortable in working with me and has had some experience in this area. It looks like the first one I contacted is pretty booked, but I'll talk to him and at least see if he has additional recommendations. SO...on that front, feel much better. I also resolved a totally unrelated issue that had me worked up yesterday-- not a bad day overall.

On the exercise front, I did a circuit on the machines (I know...lame...see first paragraph). Also did a couple sets of pull ups (over and under) and dips, then ran about 2.5 miles on the tread. After the workout, I gave a pint of blood since the mobile donor center was at the rec center tonight.

you are doing great. It is your consistency that I admire. I am up, left right, and well, less than consistent... you are a good role model for me.
great job Doc.
FF

So you exercised and gave blood?? I would have been passed out on the floor  Looks like you are doing well, keep up the great work.

FF,

Thanks for the cheer and I'm glad I can be a role model...some call me consistent, some call me obsessive/compulsive, hehe.

Trying not to get too hung up on the diet, but am finding it a bit difficult. You see, the diet is the *main* thing *I* have control over here...until I can find me a trainer to get me lifting. And I'm eager for results...I don't want to post another pic until I'm confident it will significantly different than the current before pic...wanna give it until the end of July I think.

Missyv,

Thanks! And yes...didn't hit me until right after my night snack of cottage cheese, but then I was out like a light...woke up about 4 AM in my comfy leather chair and headed upstairs to bed. I used to give platelets so next time I may schedule an appointment and do that instead-- takes longer, but an excellent cause (and I've got kind of a rare-ish blood type so they tend to call me to donate anyway).

I'll let y'all know once I've got a trainer lined up-- very eager to get going and see results!

"IT" everythign is about how you feel first.... screw a pic.. who cares!!! Breath and all will flow into you and to you.

Day 32...

Nite off-- wanted to get a run in, but it started raining buckets. Not that would have melted, but running in the rain...in the dark...on a windy county road...not wanting to tempt fate quite that much. So I'll get one in tomorrow.

On the quest for a PT...exchanged more email with a PT that can't fit me in for at least 3 months, but is getting me some names of other reputable PTs in the area that may be available. I'm hoping to get this wrapped up in the next week and get on a real routine.

For anyone lurking...if there are weight routines that DON'T have huge impact on the lower back that I can do during my search for a PT, please send them my direction. I'm reading the NROL so if you can point out suggestions in there, that would be great. I'm not asking for anyone to assume responsibility for my lifting-- I know my body and limitations. Just looking for suggestions until I get lined up with a PT.

Busy day at work. Still searching for the PT and will visit a potential gym tomorrow (and talk to the resident trainers). Have boot camp in the morning, then shuttling the kids to swimming lessons and gymnastics.
