The weather has been hot this last week 28-31C , and it broke yesterday just 21-23, & lower humidity. 10C this morning for our walk, & our times have improved accordingly
.
Sounds a lot more pleasant! We´ve been having rain every day for weeks and as pleasant as the clean air is I´m getting a little tired of the constant high humidity.
May is Alzheimer’s awareness month in Ontario. My wife & I completed our 5km walk with Bella & raised $100 for the local branch. Avg 11min/km was respectful IMHO.
Due to the Covid pandemic, the walk this year & last were virtual walks. We couldn't go door to door for pledges, so my wife & I pledged $50 each & sent a $100 check to local Alzheimer's society & got tax receipt.
Win, win!
It started raining this morning around 3:00 am & continued around noon. We need the rain so it’s welcome. I thought this would be an indoor day & worked out on the Treadclimber. It cleared in the afternoon so Bella & we had a nice evening walk as well.
We’re walking early in mornings, while tempers is around 17C. Bella much prefers it to 25+ in the afternoon. The last two walks have been 5 km. Weight is down to 206 lbs.
We’ll finally got out diving last week. Kingston, on Lake Ontario. Water temp 61F, Algae is already starting to bloom. These are pics of some beginner. They need work on buoyancy control, stepping on bottom is a no no. Stirs up the silt.
Exciting! I was talking to an experienced diver the other day and he gave me some tips that might reduce my under- and post-water ear problems. Will test them out while snorkeling in a couple of weeks: if it really helps I´ll be sorely tempted to give diving a proper try.
Snorkeling is harder on the ears, because of the rapid change in pressure. Try pre-equalizing, pinch you nose, then exhale gently through your nose till you feel the inner ear inflate. Then keep nose pinched, and equalize as you descend. Tilt your head back looking up on the ascent will help the gas escape on ascent.
