Senior needs help with my work outs.

It's great to see you back in action well & truly :)

Feeling good today, had another 45 min workout on the Treadclimber & my wife and I raked the rest of our backyard (1/2 acre) this afternoon. The weight I put on during my hip replacement recovery period is finally coming off.3B921954-575A-4AF4-B5AA-87900CEB71CE.jpegAED2A130-E585-4725-BD3C-C17194E544E3.jpeg

Excellent work. With large surgeries seeming so routine these days it's easy to forget that it's anything but for the body.

It's 9.30'ish am on the 31st of March here in Oz & I do believe it's your birthday :)
Happy
Birthday,
Mike!

6:35 pm on 30 th here ! But thanks for the early happy birthday wishes.
My mom who’s 86, called yesterday to wish me happy birthday, I thanked her, & told her she still had two more shopping days, lol. She often forgets what day of the week it is. She’s been retired for 21 years, so every day is a weekend. Me too for that matter, I retired in 2019.

The Treadclimber workouts are really working. Bella and I had our best 6km walk this morning & with best split times so far.2E92C9A8-8689-429A-A18F-4E7B5770F8DA.jpegA2085229-EE47-476A-8375-A1BA5299C1BD.jpeg

April fools day & it snowed so today’s workout was on the Treadclimber.

It was just announced that we’re going to be locked down again for another 4 weeks due to surging Covid-19 cases in our province. I picked up some bars & 100 lbs (45 kg) weights so I resume strength training at home, along with the cardio workouts.

It was just announced that we’re going to be locked down again for another 4 weeks due to surging Covid-19 cases in our province.
That is sad. I hope that slows it down. Are people starting to get vaccinated now, Mike?

Yes, all nursing homes & ER and medical front liners along with nursing home workers are done, 70 & over in large metropolitan areas are being scheduled now, but we’re in a rural area, & don’t expect 1st shots until June. We are both in our 60s.

I started strength training again. 15 minutes on the treadclimber to warm up,
3x 10 50 lb barbell standing, bent knee lift to overhead press up.
3x10 50 lb barbell biceps curls
3x10 20 lb single dumbell bicep extensions, both sides
3x 10 20 lb chest flys
3x 10 50 lb narrow grip vertical rows

The loads are modest as I have not been doing any upper body work in over a year. I’ll increase them as I get the muscle memory back.
In hindsight I need to add some pushes, so I’ll add some good old push ups for balance.

During my recovery from the hip replacement last year I was not very active & my weight was back up to 225 lbs (102kg). My new year’s resolution is to get back down to 210 (95.5kg). I weighed in this morning at 216 lbs. Just 6 lbs to go! Feeling good & motivated. Walking 3-5 km 4 days per week, and 1/2 hr Treadclimber + 30-40 minutes strength training 3 days per week.

My wife has her appointment next week for the Pfizer vaccine, I’m in the next younger group, (60’s) so, I’m scheduled May 4. We’re also booked in July and August respectively (4 months)for our second shots.

That's a long time between shots for Pfizer, isn't it?
