🏋️‍♀️Science of Diet and Exercise Journal👩‍🎓

You do very well in exams Tru considering you have Aphantasia. I have trouble memorising anything & have always had to write notes, even at high school. I used to read my notes on the bus on the way to exams. Our brains are marvellous things but work so differently for each of us. I think it's best to be self-aware even if we can't change things.

tonight I carefully trimmed all of the pieces out of the sprue for the mounted knight model I am modifying for little miss. tomorrow I need to use modeling putty to give the horse a unicorn horn which I am told must be glittery for her princess knight. But painting comes later, I need to make the modifications before undercoating and full assembly.

Seems our pup has far more dingo in him than first thought and when D talked to the owner of the mother at work it seems that it may have been a pure dingo that got into the mum and not their blue heeler as first thought. Yay for extra training challenges lol the agility, and the speed rocky has is amazing but when on lead he is super attentive and walks nicely.

Dingo is a separate species to domestic dogs Canis dingo rather than Canis lupus familiaris If I had the spare cash I would get the DNA testing done. There are a heap of physical markers that show he has a high percentage.

My injuries are getting me down with not being able to train as well as I would like, still need to see the surgeon.

That's a really interesting page about dingoes, Tru. Does your pup bark? Being immune to paralysis ticks would be a bonus.
It's a bugger that your injuries are getting you down. I hope you can get something done about them soon.

he has a sort of weird yelp, most of the time he is very quiet except when he hears a car approach the house and then it doesn't last, just a quick alert.

I like watching his ears as they move independently where one will be alert to the front and the other sort of rotates around like a radar dish lol. After reading I had to go look at his teeth and yes they were spaced apart not right next to each other and his neck is a swivel.

At the dog park today he did growl at a woman who approached suddenly to try and pet him without saying anything but was otherwise well behaved and was well mannered accepting attention from those who did not try to force themselves on him. He definitely won over the grey brigade with their poodles and little white fluffy dogs.

He sounds adorable. This made me laugh, Tru. I think I would be one of these. Arch is a bit macho though, even though he is small & very fluffy at the moment as he needs a haircut.

working on a nutrition assignment today, writing up a fictional nutrition and physique study proposal. Most of it is done, just have to fill it out a bit more, then onto my presentation slides for my other assignment.

Rocky is doing well, little mis has taken to lying along his back with both arms around his neck while taking up all of the space on the lounge chair, he seems less bouncy and quite content in this position.

I have not had the motivation to post much recently.

Uni is going ok, waiting on marks for nutrition task 2, done ok with my presentation with 76 % chose to look at central fatigue as the topic, lost a couple of marks as I went a little over time.

this weeks nutrition topic is hydration.

Just end of semester exams to go, I will select subjects for next semester tomorrow.

D has finalised his events for the karate worlds by entering an additional event (BJJ) His skills while standing are a little lacking but if he survives to take the fights to ground his grappling is very good which is further enhanced with his hypermobility, making him a slippery little *%@^(@ to pin down.

The event with the most competitors is point sparring, the event with the smallest field is sumo. I will try to do a Facebook live recording during his fights so his workmates can watch.

I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow to look at my knee

Best of luck with the doctor tomorrow 🤞
Central fatigue is interesting but I'm curious what will come up about hydration (other than standard recommendations rarely making sense for most people).

Thanks for checking in with us, Tru. I thought of you yesterday & wondered how you are going. When are the Karate worlds? You made me laugh with

Central fatigue is interesting but I'm curious what will come up about hydration (other than standard recommendations rarely making sense for most people).

The lecture videos on Monday highlighted that most of the fluid recommendations you see have absolutely no scientific backing, I still need to do the textbook readings but most of the content is judging hydration level, timing, and looking at different types of fluid to manage hydration and gastric emptying. If the fluid empties too quickly then it has less impact on rehydration, but on the other-hand you don't want athletes running around with a gut full of fluid when they need to perform at their best.. Caffeine is not the evil drink it is made out to be when it comes to hydration.

Just got back from appointment with surgeon. He asked if I squat after explaining I am a powerlifter. Asked about my initial injury in 88 and the surgery a few years later, he was surprised I had never seen images of my knee from back then but what else would you expect from that time period, they didn't tell the patient much back in the 80s, hell I was lucky to have any treatment at all when it first happened in regional NSW. Giving a full history of the knee took quite some time.

he managed to elicit several yelps of pain while asking "does it hurt here ?" After some very loud popping noises his comment "that sounds a bit crunchy" could be meniscus, could be hamstring tendon, could be cartilage. could be a lot of things. I will know more after the MRI. Waiting for the MRI team at the radiology office to call in a couple of days with an appointment time after they check all the details and triage the injury.

Just to add, D is also doing 3 man team sparring that the club entered him in that I was not aware of, he is teamed up with 2 of the senior Dans in his club.

Sounds like they have a lot of faith in him! Exciting times for sure.
Your surgeon seems to be genuinely listening to you and looking at you as an individual, which is generally a good start.

Diving deep! I can see you're going to love the next semester.
