🏋️‍♀️Science of Diet and Exercise Journal👩‍🎓

Yoga/stress studies are a dime a dozen and never revolutionary. Short adventure-type activities sound much more interesting.

feeling a bit out of sorts today, I have printed the studies, I find it easier to make notes and highlight stuff on paper and for the group work having an article on paper to discuss is better than everybody glued to their own screen when we are supposed to be collaborating and communicating with each other.

I had my application for the flood disaster payment from the government approved today, now we can look at getting our driveway repaired where the flooding washed big channels in it making it dangerous to enter and leave our driveway, the quoted cost to have it professionally fixed was $4000 so not an option. Because the most damaged part of the driveway is shared near the road with a neighbour, so the plan is to hire the heavy machinery and an do the repair ourselves in partnership with neighbour.

I think I am going to have to check little misses height later when she feels a little better. She has been super clumsy this week falling of things and falling over, she is covered with bruises and abrasions more than usual as she is sitting on the lounge chair nursing her wound after tripping over her own two feet and has blood pouring out of her big toe. After martial arts earlier she tripped over the bottom step and onto the grass while leaving and has a large graze along the side of one foot. Earlier in the week she fell of the climbing fort at childcare onto a toy and bruised her back. Extra clumsiness is often associated with a growth spurt.

Poor kiddo! Growing pains... Iirc growing also makes you more tired, which doesn't help with coordination.

Yesterday I had the drone take a look at my chosen studies, she was a little surprised and pleased I had opted for stuff outside of the usual studies everyone seems to use, so that will put me one step closer to a good mark. I still have 3 week to do the task but hopefully I will have a big chunk of it done this week.

Group work in the other subject went well and our group seem a little ahead of the curve compared to most groups and week on track to finish with a little time time to spare allow for a chance to practice our presentation hopefully.

I purchased an insulated lunch bag for uni but I forgot to get an ice pack for it, after it had been in the car while I was at my group meeting followed by a 2 hour tute my lunch was soooo hot it was almost completely inedible and my drink was almost too hot to touch the bottle, ended up walking to the supermarket and got some raw nuts to eat. However on the up side I have been clocking up a lot more walking now that face to face learning is back.

On another note, we were looking at food security/insecurity and health in my second tute, including food labeling, I won a point against the tutor when it comes to food labels in that she initially stated that Australia had excellent food labeling laws to ensure food was safe for those with special dietary needs in the tute discussion, after my part in the discussion she conceded that actually no, our labeling laws are not so great after all when it comes to being able to asses if the food is actually safe to eat.

Our food labeling is good in international comparison, I think, but what drives me batty is when companies put "may contain traces of" on the label to cover their asses legally, even when there's no realistic chance of contamination. It really reduces your options if you don't want to risk it. And on the flip side we have your issue where trace amounts of stuff not on the allergy list don't have to be listed at all. I understand why both things are the way they are, practically, but I hate it anyway.

Also: I thought for a second your uni has a fancy computer assistent to check out basic parts of your assignments ahead of time but then I realized the drone you mentioned was the tutor :D

Yep, I took the risk on a packet of raw macadamia nuts, so no procession other than removing shells and putting them in a bag, they had a may contain wheat warning, I felt that the actual risk was low and I did not react but it does add another level of uncertainty and having to rely on trial and error to work out if a food is safe to eat is not great and has big consequences if I am wrong.

Not feeling well this arvo, sore throat is back (it was a bit scratchy a couple of days ago) and the fatigue feel like a ton of rocks fell on me, son 3 has a couple of RATs still so I will test later if I don't improve after a good meal as the fatigue could be from not having eaten since this morning and having a long nap this afternoon.

Feeling a lot better this morning, a good meal and a full night sleep helps.

Shared a study link in another thread that may be of interest to some members, lots of reading for the full study so put the conclusion in the post.

We really noticed the effect fuel prices are having on products at the hardware store yesterday, we needed some more treated (termite proof) posts for the peafowl enclosure and the 6 posts cost almost $200 all up, over twice the cost they used to be a couple of months ago.

That's good!

I think I have always suspected as much. I had decided to really cut down my consumption of artificial sweeteners. I wouldn't be surprised if they caused my BIL's death as he used to consume copious quantities of diet coke.

Makes sense, especially in a country where distances are on another level like they are in your case. Sucks though. War really only benefits millionaires abroad.

having trouble concentrating on study this morning, time for some more caffeine and just knuckle down and do it.

Pushed through some study, will do a quiz later then start doing a written review of 2 studies. I am also waiting for a phone call to meet I in town to get some fertile Sussex chicken eggs for little miss to incubate and raise to increase the number of layers we have.

Baby chicks! Do you know what color they will be?

Eggs, we will incubate them, they should all be mostly white when hatched depending on which rooster is the father. (Isabelle) will give me a call when she goes to town next but her flock is mostly Sussex with a couple of other breeds thrown in the mix.

Little miss loves watching chicks hatch, I think most little kids do.

I got they were eggs but the exciting part for me is that there will be baby chicks. I'm no better than a toddler for getting excited over chicks hatching. Our zoo has the incubator in a public space so you can watch...
