Cohen's Lifestyle Sams weight loss journey part.....2

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Day 30

Thanks for the advice and Anniversary greetings L-Jay and Cate...:)

Well hubby did forget....and even though he tried to cover his tracks and say he got me something we caught him out because he left the receipt in the bag that he bought the flowers in:dupe::dupe:.

Anyway I knew he had a busy day so I didn't give him too much of a hard time. I think it was more so that he didn't call and then he said I could have...but I'm the girl:svengo: and old fashion in that regards.

L-jay I really appreciate your advice I'm a visual person so reading your post about the 8minute rule and apple cider vinegar which I have will keep me in check (I hope).

So I went to bed early and read my new Donna Hay cook book I was salivating literally:drool5:....especially in the dessert section. Better looking at pictures I suppose.

Alright I am off to have a massage now which is much needed today after my work out yesterday.....my muscles are so sore:ack2:....I nearly had to cancel due to ys wanting a sickie...but he was ok once he had breakfast.

Okay seeya back here later - Sam:)

Looking at cook books ey?? Maybe you are about to catch the Cohens cooking bug that I seem to have. I remember the first time I did Cohens I had a list of things I wanted to have when I was finished.
For our 10th anniversary, I was doing Cohens, and we had a bbq, everyone brought something, and some brought these unbelievable cakes and desserts, and I didn't have any, but I was telling them they had to make them for me when I was finished. This time I haven't even thought like that at all.
I think, like you, my attitude is way different. I am seeing it as a life long thing, with occasional treats. I think a part of me believed the first time that once I'd done refeed, I could eat what I liked, within the maintenance guidelines, but just a bit less, and not have to worry. But, besides all that, I get some strange kind of satisfaction torturing myself by looking at recipes.

Hi L-Jay

Yes it looks like the cooking bug is coming into bite me too.....I've actually baked a few cakes since starting Cohens.
I made such a yum dinner for the rest of the family....and I didn't do so bad either.
I mixed ricotta and mozzerella cheese from allowance and baked it in the oven with veg and it was so yummmmm:)...
Still craving tonight took a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar...too much maybe with a glass of water and I'm now having a cup of black tea for dessert.

Menu for day 30

M1 - egg and veg omelette on 2CB.
M2 - seared chicken with cauli flower, capsicum and onion. 1 orange.
Snack - apple and 1CB
M3 - Ricotta & Mozzerella veg cheese bake with 2CB.

Have a lovely night all - Sam:)

Hi!

Yes, same, same on the recipes and cook books.
But I am also reading restaurant and take away menus!

I think I am searching for variety that is pretty close to Cohens food....but I might just be day dreaming as well!

:waving:

Well on the subject of cooking, I told DH I think it takes way more skill to turn out an impressive dish when you are limited to cohens food, than having a choice of - well - everything. I reckon, if we lived near each other, we could open a cohens friendly restaurant. How cool would that be. People could phone ahead with allowances, and we could make some awesome things that would rival Master Chef, heehee. Maybe we could contact Master Chef, and tell them to put out a challenge to contestants, to come up with a menu based on cohens ingredients.

Sam, I think 1 tablespoon of ACV is closer to what you are meant to have for hunger. It's meant to have a heap of other health benefits too. I haven't had it much, but when I did, it really seemed to help with hunger.

So, you're swapping meal 2 & 3 around is that right? How do you go with a smaller tea? I'm just assuming that's what you're doing, unless you can have cheese for meal 3. I have thought about doing that, but it seems like such a small meal. But it could be good for faster weightloss.

Day 31

Hello Diary, Shine and L-Jay:)

I've had a pretty busy day today and I am off to bed soon....just a quick menu update.
I found today difficult but it was due to being caught out of my comfort zone.....took kids to shops after School and sat watched one eat Red rooster and the other Macca's.
It's funny I was tempted to steal a chip but I looked around that food court and to see the number of over weight people eating all this rubbish really stopped me in my tracks. I survived and came home and had chicken and steamed cauliflower.

Menu for day 31

M1 - yoghurt and mango
M2 - beef and salad with 2CB.
M3 - chicken and cauli and mango.

I must remember to weigh tomorrow because we are having dinner at our friends place.
Tom is close and bloating has started. On a good note my jeans kept slipping off me today:)....they were tight as 31 days ago!.
I've also decided to take the pressure off me next week because I have alot of dinners and functions to attend that I will do my Cohens when I am able to and stick to something as close as I can when out. Once things settle I will be back into it 100% again.
Note for any Newbies:) please do not copy me I am a Oldie who is back for 2nds to lose and am doing it on my own now.

Alright everyone I have to go now and will try and get in here sometime tomorrow.
I'll be on tuckshop duty at the School tomorrow.
Goodnight all - Sam:)

Hello Sam, what a difference 31 days can make. Yeah, looking at what people are eating, and what it has done to them, or for them, I call that great thinspo. I bet you felt much better health-wise and mentally for coming home and eating your cauli. Good girl for eating your vegetables.
(really its just a variance on the veggies???(chips) and chicken (red rooster) you would have had.).
That's a good compromise for next week. Probably a lot better for your mental state than worrying about every outing and what you're going to do.
Have a great day, and we'll hear from you later.

Day 32

Hello L-Jay and all:)

YS home sick today....he was up vomitting:puke: last night. Probably from all that yuk food from last night!!!!...anyway I told him he picked a good day to get sick because I haev so much to do today (at home) and tuckshop just takes up too much time.

Well I've weighed and lost a further 300grams...will update my ticker soon.
Okay so I am not sure when I will weigh again due to my functions out, which is -
13/11 -Tonight is dinner out.
17/11-Tuesday is dinner out....but I haven't confirmed this.
18/11 -Wednesday dinner out.
19/11- Thursday morning at my sisters so that should be ok to manage a Cohens breakfast.
20/11- Friday we did have a party in the evening for my friends 45th but I will need to cancel due to no babysitter.
21/11 - Saturday hubby and I are away for anniversary.
22/11 - Sunday back home.
No dinners now till the 6th Dec and we are having a bbq here.

So it will be interesting to see how I go. I think I'll be fine..hubby doesn't it any starch carbs anyway so it will pretty much protein and veg when we have our weekend away.
Tonight will be my splurge one.....I will need to compensate though by doing more exercise I think.

Okay everyone I'll have a quick drop into the diaries and then I'd better go start on my jobs.

L-Jay do you know last night was a challenge...the smells alone:drooling:. Anyway I usually I don't eat these foods. The alterenative normally would be a chicken and salad kebab but I would nibble on the kids chips. But it just wasn't worth it I thought why cave now and the other things that kept me focused was that tonight we were having a dinner out and I'd rather eat my friends freshly made food then all the junk food there.

Okay had better move on from here now.

Take care all - Sam:)

Day 33

Hello Diary and all:)

Well I had an awesome meal last night....just lovely. I could write what my friend cooked but all of you would end up drooling on the computer....:).

Anyway there was nibblies prior which I had a bit off.....
Dinner was a plate of salads and meats.....
And I did eat a little bit extra of the dessert...it was a south african dessert......mmmm....my mouth is watering up now thinking of it.
Also had to flute glasses of riccodonna then stuck with water and a black tea.

I think I did really well people...I also found I couldn't really eat alot due to obviously the Cohen size meals.
I admit to not sleeping as well probably because most of the food was foreign to my system after being on Cohens.

Anyway back on board with Cohens

Had yoghurt for breakfast.
But I know I will be experiencing strong cravings today so I will need to be extremely vigiliant with my foods.

Alright then i'll be off then....it looks like I will be doing dinner Tuesday my GF text me lasts night to go with her...but at least I can choose what I want to eat and hopefully not stay long.

Have a wonderful day everyone - Sam:)

Day 34

Hello diary and Kurl (welcome):).....

I didn't come in last night because I was unable to follow Cohens. I was actually feeling a bit sick and I think it was due to having the carbs and sugars from the dinner on Friday. My body obviously didn't tolerate it very well. I felt tired and sluggish all day.

I must also say I did not have any major blowouts yesterday either.....my tum was too delicate for anything bulky and filling.
I had my yoghurt in the morning:)
And an orange and a CB for my snack:)

But for lunch I ended up having crackers and Brie cheese:(
Inbetween I nibbled on CC's:(...not alot though.
I remembered to drink all my water though throughout the day....:)
And for dinner I had chicken in veg in a tomotoe sauce so that was not bad being a low carb meal, it was maybe just slightly higher in fat content:).

So that is my confession.

I feel alot better today though after having a good nights sleep.
I cooked myself a Cohens friendly meal of 1 egg and veg on 2 CB:).
I just need to make it through today and I should be fine....tom is also due any minute:(.

Okay people I will come and see what everyone else has been up to!

Sam:)

Day 34's Menu

M1 - egg and veg on 2CB
M2 - Tuna salad and mango
M3 - Minced beef with veg and mango.

Did well and stuck to plan today. No cravings at all and stomach has settled down from yesterday.

Had a really full on day and I am already in bed so will be back tomorrow.

Sam:)

Awesome, Those are the best days to have.
well done.
p.s. What was the name of that south african desert your friend made the other day. been wondering ever since you told us about it.

sweet dreams :seeya:

Day 35

Hello Diary, Kurl and all:)

Kurl I will find out and get back to you....it's made with tennis biscuits which she buys from a S.A grocers here and it's layered with caramel and topped with cream and peppermint chocolate crumbled up. It was a devine combination....never had it before.

Well another rushed start to the day ys is still not well so made an appt with the Drs so it was a rush to do the shopping and make it back here - unload and rush to meet his appt.
So now I am enjoying a black coffee and unwinding. I have a terrible headache due to tom I'd say....hop that is all and not what ys has. His now on antibiotics but should be fine for tomorrow's School.

Anyway that's about it...will report back tonight with Menu.

Have a wonderful day all - Sam:)

Hey again Sam

I have come in and checked out your diary - its great! I wish I had time to sit and read it from start to finish! But I dont :( So I'll just follow it from now :)

You say you're doing it on your own now - so do you just follow cohens as closely as you can and have minor slip ups here and there? On the times you deviate, does your weight loss stop for a week?

Just wondering if that is true, that our consultants tell us. The first time I deviated it seemed to slow my weight loss down for the week, but the second time I still lost a kg that week... but then the week after I didnt loose? Hmm wondering what happens with everyone else when they have a deviation?

Keep up the good work :)
Kristy xx

Hi Kurl & Sam,

The desserts name must have been a Peppermint Caramel Tart, yes all us South African's know about that one, it is devine and i promise you one piece is never enough, that's the problem with it!!

Sorry for jumping in, just thought i would let you know, have a great day :)

Take care and good luck!

Day 36

Morning Kristy, Angela and all:)

Well tom has hit town today...just when I haev so much on!!!.

Didn't post menu last night had a slight deviatation at dinner....won't go into it but I didn't reach for any sweets though. Very strong craving for sugar stuck to heaps of water. And ate a little more so then what I should have.

Kristy I have had a few planned deviatations and I have still lost.....I am not weighing this week though because due to tom (now)..I also have dinner out tonight, tomorrow is dinner out and I am away from home and Saturday hubby and I are away for the weekend too. Next week I will get back on plan and weigh in the following Monday which is either the 30th of nov or the 1st of Dec.
I follow the guidelines as much as possible because this keeps me focused...if I stray from this way of eating I know I am going to revert to the old me and gain the weight back. I have been struggling for close to 3 years to lose my weight and I have been on so many other diets to do so and here I am having lost 7 kilos in a month!!!!!...it's insane really. So this is why I will continue to eat and live the Cohen's way as much as possible with a few treat occassions thrown in now and again.

Thanks for that Angela...it certainly was moorish.....

Okay I'd better be off and get the kids ready for School.
Enjoy your day all.
Sam:)

i get so jealous (but in a good way) when i see you've been going at it for 35 days. i'm only on day 8 :( i could do with a time machine right now he he.)

Means alot :)

Take care :seeya:
