I'm glad you're back Stan. I haven't been around quite as long, but I reckon not giving up has to be a win. Determination is very important- much better than giving up!

Is anyone else fascinated by their fitbit? I know the readings probably shouldn't be taken as gospel but that constant 10,000 step goal is a good motivator... unless it's raining outside lol. It's the BPM readout that gets me though; after 2 weeks of genuinely pushing myself during my walks I've brought it down from 64 to 59 - I like the little graph it gives you too haha. It's quite satisfying to see the step count graph going up and the BPM chart coming down at the same time. Results! :D

But that does then make the hypochondriac in me worry... why was it at 64 when I was only engaging in moderate exercise? I have to slap myself down a bit and remind myself I'm a 330llb guy who's reasonably active, my heart is going to have had to be in healthy shape to keep me going!

Anyway, that probably leads me nicely into outlining the current weight loss plan. Eat less, move more. Although now I'm 2 weeks in, the plan is evolving into eat better, move more.

I lost the cord for my FitBit a couple of months ago, but I totally understand your fascination. Hitting those little achievements is addicting, and it definitely makes 10 000 steps more interesting. I wish the band didn't make my wrist feel so clammy though. If 59 is your resting HR, you're doing just fine. Even 64 isn't high, as far as I have looked into it.

I like the eat better plan you have. Eating less doesn't always work out well for me, but eating better doesn't mean I have to feel starved. I'm starting to remember how filling vegetables can be! What do your meals usually look like?

They vary to be honest. 99% of the time breakfast is a banana; I'm not a breakfast fan but I know it's important so force the issue. Lunch is awkward as I travel between different building sites so I tend to grab whatever I can from a local shop. Sometimes it'll be a little pasta pot, sometimes a wrap or even sometimes fruit! o_O without a doubt this is where most of my crummy calories have been coming from in the past. Evening meal is a real mix, I've just cut right back on portions, especially on things like bread etc.

Yeah, one website suggested I was an athlete if I got it down below 60, so I'm taking that :p I was worried that 64 was a bit low, bradycardia etc. Those are the moments where you have to tell yourself to put the internet away lol

Silly me! Here I am worrying about too high of a resting HR, I didn't even think about going the other way.
Good on you for being conscientious about that!

Breakfast is a hard one to force down, isn't it? I'm doing the whole nixing of the bread thing, too. It's not cutting out carbs, but cutting out the white buns I always found a way to fit into my dinners. You're on a roll (seriously, that's not a pun, haha) - keep it up! :hurray:

:) I basically eat dinner for breakfast. I'd get really grumpy by 10 am if I didn't eat breakfast. But everyone's different. Have you considered meal prep for your lunches? That would definitely make it easier to keep the carbs down and increase your intake of micronutrients.

I have done in the past, but it used to be really hard knowing it was there and waiting to be eaten. I'd often eat it early leaving me hungry in the late afternoon. Don't quite know why but my willpower is much stronger if I have to buy it.

That said, I know at some point in the future I'll have to start prepping lunch to keep on track.

I'll try and keep on that roll Liz :D

So it's after 10pm in this corner of the earth and almost bedtime, so I guess I'd better start some sort of logging. I'm not going to log calories in and I wont be stepping on any scales either. I've set aim on trying to achieve a 0.5 waist/height ratio, so for my 70ish inches of height I should hopefully achieve a 35 inch waist at some point in the future. I'm currently at about 44 so I've some way to go, unless of course I get a late-in-life growth spurt and shoot up to 7' 4" :p

I'm lucky that my employer has paid for me to study part time for my degree; I graduate in the summer of 2019 (bang on course for a 1st class hons at the moment :D ) and I'd like to look much better than I do now in the photos. This is my timescale.

My minimum aim each week is to hit 70,000 steps as measured by my fitbit. Just with everyday movement I can usually manage about 45,000 so the extra is a good start. I'd like to achieve 90,000 a week but I have to be realistic, with studying and working late that can be a challenge. I also lift some weights at home, nothing much but enough to build a little muscle to burn through some more cals.

Also I think a little music is in order to liven up my diary lol. This is the song that was in my head yesterday as I pounded the streets; it's not like its a favourite although I do like it a little. He'd been on the TV before I set out so it was in my brain lol

Dammit, I didn't log anything, I just got carried away in targets and songs! o_O

Just over 11k steps today which takes my total from Monday to 57,725. Just 13k left to go - don't think I'll get there tomorrow as I wont get a chance to walk after work but I'll pencil Saturday in for a big steps day

As predicted, low on steps today; only managed to get 4,400 in. Fridays always seem to be the same at the moment. Because I'm at uni on a Monday I end up trying to get back into the office from site as soon as possible so I can clear all my paperwork. I still don't leave until gone 6pm at the earliest though. Friday's are the only evening I go out too, so by the time I get home, eat and shower it's time to go out again. I'll make it up tomorrow :)

Resting heart rate is down to 57 bpm. I like this lol.

Thought for the day: I should probably properly measure my waist if I'm going to use it as a guide. I bet it's bigger than I think.
Observation of the day: I had to move my belt in a notch today :D been a long time since it was on that notch!
Shock of the day: My son (he is 17 so it's ok) put CeeLo Green's non-clean version of Forget You on in my car. I was shocked, I had no idea this version existed. He also then put on other non-radio edits of songs such as Pretty Girl just to laugh at my reaction.

Mind you, I think I'm living in a bubble anyway. I watched Terminator Genisys the other night and all I could think was "why can't they all just get along?"

57 bpm is excellent! I think mine is in the low 60's at best!

Ha - I have a 17 year old daughter so relate to your story a lot. I love CeeLo. What a voice! That's one of the better songs of the last decade, IMO.

Resting heart rate down to 57 BPM, coming in another belt notch, 9271 average steps in the last 28 days & a 26 % increase in steps from the month before, supporting other members of the forum....... You are winning at this Stan!

I live in that bubble too, or at least I try to :D

Thanks Jenni, thanks Liz and thanks Cate :D I'm feeling the love :)

Had a bit of a mad one today... started walking with no clear intention of where I was going. Walked clean out of my town, through the countryside, into a neighbouring village, through that and on to the next village. Then through some woods until I realised my feet hurt  it was a long way back!

Definitely made up for Friday's dip in steps and tomorrow will have another slight dip too so the achy feet will at least get a rest lol.

I've done more steps than that before in a day, but it's been a while. Resting BPM is back up slightly, not sure whether that is attributable to yesterday being so sedentary or today being so exhausted haha!

I did eat a larger than normal evening meal of pasta as I had literally no energy to get up and do some uni work otherwise

:svengo:
WOW!!!
