LaMa - I love the Sherlock books! He's an absolute knob but the stories are gripping! I think they've done a good job with the English show - Cumberbatch openly acknowledges being a bit of a sociopath so you sort of love him despite his flaws. And John Watson is played by Martin Freeman who I love as well <3

Hi Vanita - thank you for posting on my diary! Glad you liked Arrival - I thought it was very cleverly done - loved all the bits about linguistics and, although it was quite sentimental at the end, I thought it was very good :) My husband would have had a pinch if he'd fallen asleep!! Will head over to your diary to see your updates :)

Cats woke me up at STUPID o'clock. Curse those adorable shitbags. So I'm here now!

So WEEK ONE is over: I've weighed in at 194.5lbs again so that means a total loss for week 1 of 4.5lbs. Very happy with his. I've been under calories every day this week (apart from popcorn day, but that was only over by 50 or so), I've drunk so, so much less than normal, have slept great and have been in a great mood for the majority of the week. Putting this down to making good choices, posting on here and getting support from you wonderful creatures and cutting out the smoking and excessive drinking. No cigarettes (apart from a slip up at New Years!) for nearly 3 weeks now and I've gone from a bottle of wine a night (and usually two a night on Friday and Saturday..so around 70/80 units a week!!) to a grand total of 14 units for this week! That is the RECOMMEND AMOUNT FOR WOMEN IN THE UK! I've had NO evenings of whole bottles this week, a few alcohol free days, a treat night on Friday that made me feel a bit wank, and the rest of the week has been a glass or two if I've felt like it. Feeling proud of myself and more importantly, in control.

Sunflower siiiigning out <3

Oh, honeybuns you are going fantastically well. Bloody awesome! I am very proud of you too :D

Thanks lovely lady - feeling excellent :D

I dragged Yank out of bed nice and early this morning and we caught the bus to this country park place about an hour away - weather was gloomy but we did 8 miles of hiking (very muddy!) and are now both home, showered and eating a bowl of wholewheat pasta & broccoli. We did about 18,000 steps so my "exercise calories" on myfitnesspal are nearly 1000! So will be eating a decent dinner tonight and spending the rest of the day on the sofa with herbal teas and my catbabies. Just booked our excursions for our Iceland trip next month (horrifically expensive!) but have justified the cost as spending so much less on wine/tobacco!

Anyway, will pop back later with foods but here's some photos of our hike :)

Thanks LaMa :) I do love taking photos - Yank always complaining that I'm dragging him in for selfies.. I'm looking at getting a proper camera. Money, money, money though..

I prefer to just use my phone now for photos. The less you carry when you're out and about the better. You both look lovely Hana xoxo

Doing a great job lady keep it up :)

Had a good day today - uneventful..slept like shit, went to work, did a few visits to my single mums and their babies and everyone was looking pretty groovy, did some of my essay, went to see my Salvation Army lady after work and sat and chatted with her for a while and then came home :D Also saw my wellbeing lady who has dropped me to fortnightly sessions so that's good. She weighed me and confirmed my loss for this week too.

Breakfast: alpen bar (70)
Lunch: WW soup, fruit (182)
Dinner: 2 x bagel thins, 2 x quorn sausage patties, roasted paprika new potatoes, roasted mushrooms and red pepper, light cheese slice (802)
Snacks: graze box, 1/2 a brunch bar (162)

Total: 1216
Steps: 13,000

Alcohol free day :D

I´m getting hungry just looking at your calories  But yay for no alcohol! I´m going to keep saying it: you´re pretty badass.

I´m going to keep saying it: you´re pretty badass.
:iagree: Hana, you are bloody awesome. Go You!
Well done on chatting to the SA lady & then going home. You do so much for everyone & it's more than ok to look after yourself. xoxo

I just spent an insane amount of time catching up on your diary and I regret nothing. I'm pumped to hear you are doing so well with your drinking! It doesn't sound like a punishment, which is awesome. Being healthy really does have its benefits, haha. I do have to say that you have more energy than I could ever dream of!

Thanks LaMa & Cate - Cate, this is a DIFFERENT Salvation Army lady. It's for a project called Good Neighbours so for elderly, isolated people who have no family and I go and see her and chat once a week or do a puzzle or clean up a little. She actually does have a son who lives nearby but he's a shit and never sees her. She spent Christmas in her care home :( She has dementia and bipolar so not a winning combination so often I'll go at 1700 and have to get her out of bed as she has nothing to do so she just goes to bed during the day. She's lovely. I've been seeing her for 14 months! The other salvation army lady is just another volunteer at the soup kitchen who is a pain in my ass!!! She's not called me back after I left her that message so hoping it's not horribly awkward on Thursday when I go in..

Oaks, thank you so much! I have pretty much accepted that I will always have a bit of a drinking problem but I'm trying as hard as I can and making good choices at the moment. My units last week were normal which felt amazing! I was on about 80 units a week!!!

--------------------------------------------------

Calories were still too low last night - I think I get nervous about running out of calories so I'm eating very little for breakfast and lunch so I can save them for later in the day and then just not needing them all.. Have forgotten my lunch today so will buy some soup later and have brought some healthy snacks as well. I weighed in this morning and am down another 1.5lbs so that means I have gone from 199lbs to 193lbs in just over a week! Official weigh day in not until Sunday and am hoping for a 3lb loss for the week so am half-way there already!

Have a bit of a test tonight as have a friend coming to stay overnight that I usually drink a lot with. I have been very honest with my friends about my problem and they are all being supportive and I purposefully did not have anything yesterday so that if I go a little over tonight I won't beat myself up. Planning on buying a bottle and then measuring out small glasses with my unit cup and sharing with my friend. I'm making sweet potato fries and halloumi, grilled red pepper burgers so keeping it healthy! At work between 8 and 1700 today - got some child protection bits to do..one of my young people has raped someone so it's a bit hectic today.. the joys of social work!

Take care folks <3

That's so sad about the lady who just goes to bed cos she has nothing else to do! :( At least she has you helping her, but life can get very sad sometimes.

My favorite way to eat a biscuit?

Mmm, my fat, American mouth is watering already.

American "biscuits" look like scones. In the UK Hana, do you say sweet biscuits & dry biscuits or do you call dry biscuits crackers?

Ahhh man, I also looked upon the radiant beauty of that sconey, biscuity, buttery, eggy thing for far too long. Clearly a scone and not a biscuit. You other side pond dwellers are odd.

Cate, a biscuit is a sweet thing like a cookie or a bourbon creaaam or a digetive. And crackers are what you have with cheese like graham crackers or ritz crackers. We don't call those biscuits.

I NOW WANT ALL THE BISCUITS.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I was successful as fuck yesterday - was a bit worried about friend coming but I had 2 x 125mls of wine and then hot tea for the rest of the evening :) Was absolutely fine. And food was a bit higher in cals as well so glad I've got above that 1200 number! Watched Whiplash again last night which I love and I made a nice meal for my friends. My friend brought his horrible Chihuahua, Toby, round though.. He's like a weird little bug and his junk is just absolutely enormous compared to his tiny body so every time you hold him you can just feel dog balls. It was quite unsettling.

10th January

Lunch: subway veggie salad, quinoa seeded rice (304)
Dinner: roasted sweet potatoes with paprika, wholemeal roll, halloumi, hummus, grilled red pepper. (656)

Steps: 15,800
