Planet Fitness-Judgement free? I think not!

So when the Lunk Alarm goes off and startles someone, who drops the barbell on their chest, they'll just sue, take over the gym, get rid of that retarded ****, and maybe some real workouts can be done there again on a regular basis.

That's probably why they don't have barbells :)

nysc trainers dont need to be certified either. they run you through their 2 day course. regardless if you're already certified actually.

its not required to be certified, but alot of clubs require it. thats why the pt industry is taken as a joke. most people think it is some kid in college trying to make money, similar to mcdonalds.

So I got reprimanded last night by the lady at the front desk.

I'm sorry but this has to be the (pardon my language) most Pu$$iest gym I have ever visited in my life. I was flat pressing the highest weight that they have, 80lb dbells, and serioulsly placed them on the ground to be somewhat respectful of the rule. The ground is made up of one 1/4 in sheet of rubber mat above cement so of course there is going to be a little bit of a thump even if you place them down.

She comes over me and say "sir im going to have to ask you to watch the way you place the weights down". I said not for nothing but I joined this gym 2 days ago and the whole motto is that it is a "Judgement Free" zone yet all I see is judgmental signs everywhere, no skullies, boots, do rags, etc etc.....Then I mention the no deadlifting sign and she said well sir we dont cater to bodybuilders here so I said then who do you cater too? Fat people who eat tootsie rolls and pizza all day who wish they were in shape but dont have the will and drive to do so? She says well if you do not like the rules here then you do not have to workout here. LOL.

Then she says that its the same way that a restauraunt dress code works. Thewy have rules she says and you abide by them. I said true but a restauraunt also doesn't post signs everywhere claiming to be a "Judgement Free" zone.

At that point she shut up and walked away and said have a nice workout....LOL.

God I hope they never put one of these around here. They make LA Fitness look badass. LMAO!

I lift at home now, but my old gym doesn't even have its own website. It was dark and dreary with heavy metal/hard rock playing and it smelled like sweat and Ben-Gay, Mostly free weights, none of the equipment matched. People grunted, yelled, swore, wore whatever they wanted, talked trash to each other...a real gym....did I mention that most of the free weights were basically in a basement? LOL

You seriously need to get out of that place, it’s probably got some kind of bad lifting karma surrounding it; soon you’ll find yourself doing high rep curls while standing on one leg and telling people about the dangers of squatting

I just had an idea, if they don’t have barbells, pick up one of the benches and start OH pressing it, and make sure you have a friend ready to take a picture of their faces when they see you doing it

Check the vents, make sure they aren't pumping that place full of estrogen the way casinos filter in pure oxygen...

I only go there for cardio in the morning and the only reason I went there for weight training for my last 2 sessions is because I got out of work early and was home when my weight training time came. Since it's closer to my house than my regular gym, I went there instead.

DEF no more weight training there EVER!!

Do they let you do HIIT or are your feet not allowed to land too hard on the treadmill?

They've got this exact same gym in SoFla.. I went with a friend once, and laughed at the alarm. Not that I drop weights, but we all know it happens on occasion.

alot of gyms are going that route these days. catering to the 30-50 yr old women crowd and giving them endless cardio equipment and machine weight stuff. its what brings in the money.

we had a planet fitness open down here in nanuet ny and i liked the $10 price, but its about 25 minutes or more away. Price does beat the $85/mo for my area. Now I just have my own equipment at a studio.

I agree. Our gym is split into two sections: one side is exclusively for ladies who don't like the hardcore gym experience (18-60), and the other side is for people who are actually serious about working out.

90% of the women use cardio equipment exclusively, regardless as to which side they work out on. From time to time, I like to venture into the ladies' area to remind myself why I don't like it ...

Well, I have yet to see any woman picking up anything more than a 20 pound DB. Moreover, the machines have so many pulleys, the true weight being moved is probably 1/3 of what the weight stack stays. None of the women have good form, and the music would put most people into a self-induced coma to stop the relentless agony of having to listen to it.

So our gym caters to both mentalities: the "I want to work out hard and look great" and the "I'm just doing this to fool myself into believing I'm actually getting in shape" crowd.

On a somewhat similar note, last night I went with my wife to a "light the night" walk for leukemia, her company sponsored it. I encountered something odd that also happened at my last 5K....A woman probably 30-40 lbs overweight tried to lead the group in jazzercise so everyone could warm up and "not pull anything". IT WAS A 2 MILE WALK FOR GOD'S SAKE!!

I turned to my wife and said "If I were to participate in this I'd probably be kicked out of my forum" LOL Thankfully, she thought it was stupid and didn't do it either.

We both walked though and had fun although I hadn't prepared myself for the speakers telling of their loved one's struggles with the disease...little kids etc. I almost cried my eyes out.

For some people I'm sure this is a great option to accomplish their goals, so I wouldn't get on my high horse about how much better of a gym goer you are than the users or owners of this franchise, rather I would stop bitching, close out my membership and go somewhere else.

It's a great option to join a gym who judges you?

Like I said, I will only do cardio there as it is convenient for me in the AM so no harm done. I just feel bad for the 4 guys that came up to me to tell me how much that gym sucked after my confrontation with the employee. The only reason they said they go there is because they can't afford the other expensive gyms in the area.

And I never said I was better than someone else nor would I ever.

I smell a Planet Fitness employee

How can anyone defend a gym that has a pizza day and doesn't allow DL's
