Petals diary

As long as you enjoy the run your placing doesn't matter.
LaMa is right, weight loss is not a competition with anyone except maybe yourself. So crossing the finish line is a win, no matter how soon or how far into the future. Of course it is hard in this thing to really know what the finish line is or looks like.

I know its hard sometimes but the opinions of many others with respect to your weight and weight loss are not to be taken too seriously. If I think people are well-meaning and have some insight I always listen, like y'all on the forum. But in the end I make my own decisions, and it seems to me you have been kind of like that over the time I have been here. If I don't think the person is well-meaning or knowledgeable I do my best to ignore them. I know that can be hard sometimes. Remember you are a wise woman who has done very well, and gotten yourself into a good place, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Sorry I am woefully behind on your diary and others, catching up is hard to do.

Thank you both Lama and Rob for your wise words .
today was a good day . Work was ok , think I’m getting good at just doing what I can . We had a nice dinner of spaghetti bol, spinach and a little garlic bread .

lots of colds coughs and sniffles going around at the moment . Trying to steer clear as it’s in the house too . We are having a quiet weekend but I hope to get a walk or 2

I hope you manage to avoid the colds coughs & sniffles. Get as much vitamin C into you as you can, Petal & sleep. I have a hot lemon drink every night & I think that helps ward off colds. Just 1/2 a lemon & a teaspoon of honey, just before bed. If I do think I'm coming down with something I take Echinacea for a week.
Spag bol sounds delicious. We haven't had that for aaages.

You'd expect the colds and sniffles to be reduced by the covid precautions. But I guess that would require people to stick to the rules.

Thanks Em you do too . And it’s very cold this morning.
Good advice Cate . Sounds like a good defence mechanism. LaMa I think a lot of it is down to kids being back in school . Also my son gets a cough every year without fail and this year has been no different . He is following all the rules but I think it’s changing weather for him .
it will be interesting to see how normal flu season fares this year

Yeah, I played tennis last night for a few hours and it was so bitter. I got home, had a really hot shower and wore a good few layers going to bed, cos I felt like I was going to pick up a cold. So it’s not always from other people.

Bitter today Em but so so beautiful .
Well I put my Ecco shoes to the test today and my feet stayed dry and pain free . Very pleased . Did about 70 mins some through muck and climbing .

I have been reading Michael Mosely Fast 800 . Really enjoyed it . I have no plan to do it but definitely some good stuff to take from it

I hadn't noticed your shoes were Ecco. They are such good quality. G bought some in Switzerland 7 years ago & they are still going strong.
I have Michael Mosley's 5:2 book & have a read every now & then. I think doing IF is a really good idea too but struggle with it personally.
It is really cold here at the moment too. There's lots of snow on the mountains & it got down to 1oC this morning! Not raining though :)

I love Ecco and like Cate hadn't noticed the brand. I probably wore only Ecco for the first 14 years of my life :rotflmao: So comfy but at the time they looked a bit boring. Much more diversity now but their prices...

Cate reading it I would so love to do it but I think I would be on the floor in s collapsed heap. The only thing is his new 5:2 is a 800 day fast . Im definitely taking some things from it , one is I eat a lot of fruit and some of those while fantastic are high sugars. I am addicted to sugar so I'm going to ease back a bit and go for apples pears and berries . I do have a melon to use up first though lol .

Thsnks Em it's great out again today . A walk is in order again.

LaMa my daughter said they were ugly but I don't care . For me to walk for that time with dry feet and not be conscious of my feet was good . Don't know if it will last . We see . And they cost me the same as my new balance which I now cam only wear around town or home as they not comfortable for the long walks . It's so frustrating trying to find a shoe trainer or boot that is comfy and looks smart .

I broke a toe about 25 years ago . Middle toe . Nothing was done with it was told it would heal on its own. I have noticed now that's what is causing me some problems as in I can't even bend that toe . It's rigid . So that's one foot and the other one is the Achilles heel . So Cate I totally empathise with you and your knees . Anyway next aim is to find a classy ankle boot for winter to wear to work or out and about for an odd meal or night out .

Today going out for lunch then for a visit after to an isolated family member . I feel kind of trapped in my life at times especially now with not being able to travel freely . It's very Groundhog Day . So just trying to add value to my days especially weekends . Be nice to have lunch out and kids not coming they will sort themselves .

Same. It sucks sometimes. We'll get through it though!
I liked the look of your new shoes, by the way. Hiking gear is allowed to look like hiking gear.

Hope you really enjoyed your lunch out. It really is Groundhog Day for a lot of people but definitely try to find something to keep you going over the winter months. Phil learned the piano! ;)

Thanks Lama ,Cate and Em . Lunch was really nice . I enjoyed it . Visit was fine too .

I need to book leave just to use some up so going to start taking some time from next week . Lung weekends maybe .
Supposed to be going to the coast this weekend which will be a change .
I’m struggling with food a bit . Nothing major but need to watch it . I think the way I eat though is pretty sustainable so will keep that in mind .

Lung weekends maybe .
:D That sounds like a medical way of saying you're going hiking.

I'm starting to come to terms with the idea that I'll always struggle a bit. As long as we struggle at a comfortable weight it's still a win.

Planning some long weekends sounds like a nice idea, Petal. If you had 10 days leave imagine how 10 long weekends in a row would be :)
