Performance -Not Enough!

thru down a cool 9 miles tonight and it felt fantastic. To get the endorphins up, and the testosterone flowing was the best thing I could do. Tomorrow I have that concessions stand selling at soccer, then I plan to go try some 300 training.

I will get that 300.

Protein Boy!!! SUP dude?

Hey FF. Sorry about hearing with the **** going on with your job. I too have been having problems lately, just mental issues LOL. hopefully im on track with the diet/fitness again.

300 workout eh? i did that the other day for the first time and it was pretty intense, especially since your supposed to do it all with little to no rest. Still sore from 50 deadlifts and windshield wipers

Hi FF.
I have a question...I understand that you are training for IronmanI just finished watching video on YouTube about Ironman in Kona and there was a shot showing all the people in the water. Anyways, I'm kind of wondering what safety measures they have (like when you get kicked in the head while swimming and become unconcious).
I also looked for a statistic about how many people die each year during Ironman..Just wondering if you know something about that.:)

Sorry to hear about your job situation. I'm sure it will work out in the end.;)

Hey Betty, not sure when FF will reply but I just wanted to say that in open water the only real safety measures they have are volunteer kayakers who paddle on the perimeter of the swim. If there is a problem, they're supposed to be aware of it and have the means to help. Swimmers get disqualified if they touch the kayaks but they'd only do that if there was a real problem. I've rarely heard of ironman events having many deaths. Seems like there would be more, but I've rarely heard of it. I hear far more reports on marathoners biting it. I think at the Ironman level most people have the nutrition/hydration thing down and are careful to monitor themselves in order to finish such a long grueling event. its a delicate dance I'm sure.

great response Sparrow. Remember that when you are hoping your goggles float back up. the way you write!:luxlove:

today:

5 miles to soccer fields ran flat 9's
5 miles home
30 minutes stretching

going to a couple of B-day parties, then I will run a mile and do the 300 workout (attempt) tonight. Evo- if you are reading this- can you do the whole thing at any pace right in row? Very impressive! It is a dooozy!

I have decided to let my weight fall. i have the 70.3 in may, and this eatin thing is killing me. I find myself hunting for cake, and junk to try and get the calories without so much work. If i drop to 175 or less so be it. No lower than 170. Time to get in the groove and nail this 70.3 in under 6 hours.

haha I guess thats the point of the "cotton balls in the goggles" drill in the pool. Its good to practice blindness every now and then just in case :) Oh what am I talking about..I'M the one who kicks the "others" in the back :D lol ;)

Thats some good running. Now I'm inspired even though I've already decided today is my day off. My youngest turned 5 today. sniff. Bday party was a girly one with a lot of other little 5 yr olds. lordy. For someone who isn't very girly...I think I pulled it off rather nicely. ;) I ate pb and J chips and cake so I should go do some activity probably. urp. oh well, whatever. I had a good week. I'll call this the cheat.

As for your weight. I wouldn't worry about how low it drops so much as worrying about how much muscle stays on in the drop. Its actually probably beneficial for you to be lighter than heavier for the event. Everything goes more smoothly if you're lighter. BUT if thats at the expense of muscle, of course thats dumb. If your body is dropping weight as in fat while you train and you can keep on the muscle then more power to ya! I wish mine did that. lol. I'd say as long as you see you're lifting the same or increasing then you're okay. As you train heavier you shouldn't be doing more than a maintenance routine in the weight room anyway. It will hinder more than help for endurance. JMO of course ;)

ended up runnign another 5 miles. 2 with my honey, then stretched it out for 3. The 3 running sessions in one day was rather weird. I felt the strongest the third time out.

changed my mind on the 300 workout. Instead I AM GOING TO WATCH THE MOVIE and eat popcorn! nanner nanner nanner :biggrinsanta:

tomorrow is a long day on the bike anyway. Church and then ride: 3 X 60 min, each session faster than the previous. plan to start at 14 mph, then do a 15, and then a 17 mph for the 3 session. should be a leg burner. :bncry:

Mrs. FF is up to 2 miles? Good for her! I remember when she couldn't do 1.

Hey, why are you starting off so slow, 14 mph??? As you're crouched on "Blue Thunder" in your aero position, old dudes from Sun City Center on 3-wheel bikes will be blowing by ya!!!

I think FF likes the torture of the slow stuff. Its discipline that he thrives on. Course I'd know nothing about that. I still can't do what he says. I know there is wisdom to it. right? lol. yeah.

I used the Garmin tonight on my regular 5.7 route Todd. You need one of those! Its amazing. I'll now need to name IT too :D

..hey and was there a name change I didn't know about? lol

MIA---

The skydiving boogie went painfully terrible. Weather conditions all but shut it completely down. I went for a few great runs though. One on the sand and it made my calves VERYT sore.

I am 9 weeks away from a 70.3 Ironman, and all heck is breaking loose in my life. I have a job that is on the rocks, mostly my doing, but the work I do is very sensitive for me- I am either on or off, and well- I have been off. I6t may be that I am being led in a new career direction and just don't know it yet.

SO- FOCUS- back into the groove. I am picking up my full Ironman training on week 9 that will settle me into a nice leve groove for the Disney event.

Back to post workout later.

I hope things get better with your job, FF. You're tough, you will work it out and find the answer. Most iron men do! ROCK ON!

Best wishes to you!

you think that is too slow? hmmmm maybe i could do a 15, 16, and 18. they are 60 minutes each. What do you think I am capable of? Swim concentration next week.

i wish ou could go with me and set pace..... soon man, soon! I plan to hit the upper Tampa Bay trail at about 1:00 or so and do the 3 hours. the trail is only 3 minutes from my house.

No name change- Precious is my 'precious' and she fits soooo nice.

thanks Chillen, a lil encouragement goes a long way. this is a wonderful place, and a place of heart and energy! you!

Todd, I so wish I could be going with you as well to set a real pace, But, since I can't, go 17, 18, 19 for 1 hour each.

And let's hook up in June or July to do another century (and troll for hotties) on that trail. I like that ride.

it was hard to contain myself at 17.
first 60 averaged 17.2

it was hard to maintain the 18, return into wind.
second 60 averaged 17.8

it was hell trying to hold 19, so i went fast spurting all along. (i did see over 25 mph a few times).
third 60 averaged 18.2

none-the-less 180 minutes of heavy peddling. The adjustment I made on the cleats helped alot. My feet did not hurt. got off the bike and ran 10 minutes out and ten minutes back barefooted.

Accelerade settled nice for me today, drank 60 oz's, lots of water, 1 powerbar, 3 gels.

weighed out at 189
weighed in at 184

Great workout.
