Pacoltmaki's Weight Loss Diary

Don't berate yourself for the exercise you are not doing & just keep on eating well. Well done on day 2 without wine :)
Thank you! There was a 3rd and tonight is 4th. And that with half a bottle of white wine sitting on the kitchen counter since my last wine night! :)
About the workouts I'm not doing: when I went to a gym (for classes, sometimes 2 in a row) I looked toned and lean and I remember how good it felt to be challanged and how proud I felt that I accomplished yet another hard class. I don't understand how that doesn't motivate me to start again and why I'm unable to get to a youtube workout video. I hope the motivation will come or that I'll just get to it and let the motivation follow :)

I seem to remember there are apps that let you scan the barcode and then just add in the amount you´re using. No personal experience with that though.
Oh wow, I shall check it out, thanks! That would make it easier for me. I'll let you know how it goes :)

This morning kids woke up early so had no time to check in here. I resisted the wine yesterday evening, resisted the scales this morning, went on a big bike ride with half the family to the lake. Got a compliment from a friend (she doesn't know about my dieting). For breakfast I had a banana and a handful of almonds as there was nothing non carb in the fridge and shops are closed on Sundays. For lunch I had the rest of my son's a döner plate no fries or salad. Frozen mango cubes for dessert.
Had some water (not enough) and tea.
Was on my feet the whole day, non stop since morning, I'm so tired that I sent kids to take a bath and to get ready for bedtime thinking it's late. I've just realized it's only 6pm... :D
Tea for tonight so I can tick day 4 with no wine and then off to a long sleep. (I wish I could sleep through a night once)

Lovely on the on-going success with the tea instead of wine!
As for the weight going up a bit I wouldn't worry about it at this point--could easily be water weight if you increased your exercise. I always seem to lose a bit of weight when I stop exercising, which is always a good reminder to me of how a number on a scale is just one indicator of how the journey is going. I imagine your calories should be down if you've eliminated wine...

To be honest I was only planning to exercice more, but did not except 2 runs in the beginning of the week. I was very very active though, did not have time to sit, but still no real exercice done. I was hoping to see some results due to the winefree week, a bit disappointed, but the good thing is now that I know I can't look at the process in a certain timeframe. I do have goals set, but it doesn't matter because it's not like after 1st August 2021 I'm going to stop eating like I'm eating now and go back to white bread pasta and chocolate. What I mean is that I don't mind if the process is slower than what I expected.

76.1kg this morning the exact same as last Monday. It's ok, I won't dispair, a bit disappointed though. It's also a wake up call that says it's not enough what I'm doing. Reading the diaries here and seeing that calorie counting is indeed working, I will give it a try this week. I checked in an online calculator, for weight loss I need to have 1453kcal/day. Just need to clear up some space in my phone to be able to download any apps (it's ALWAYS 99% full).
Exercice plans: a run today, a 12km walk tomorrow planned with a friend. Wednesday we'll see.
Time to start the day, pack the lunchboxes, prepare breakfast... And the usual

This. 100%. I no longer count calories exactly but I´ve done it so often for so long that I do generally have a basic idea of how much I´m eating. And for new things I start eating more often I will look up the calories per portion. It´s a nuisance sometimes, but it really helps.

It's good to here that one can get into the habit of calorie counting, I'll aim to that. I had a (not so much) surprising discovery already at breakfast. 2 slices of ryebread (34kcal a slice), measured even the butter, very thin slices of cheese, cherry tomato and cucumber, 389kcal. Because of the cheese. So I'll definitely go on counting and see how the day goes.

After a day of calorie counting:
The app set a goal of 1200 kcal / day for 1kg weight loss / week.
Unlike the months before, I could not think about anything but food. Protein and carbs were fine, I wanted to have an avocado for dinner, realized I would be way over the fat, decided against. Overall, I was extremely conscious about what I ate, which is good. 1200 kcal were enough, not too much, not too little.
Sad news about cheese. I knew I had to face it sooner or later, but I have to restrict cheese to 1-2 thin slices. It's ok. I gave up most of the things I used to eat, I can do one more without wanting to replace it with sg else. I can't imagine not snacking on gouda and maasdam bites with grapes or cherry tomatos, but the goal is more important now than anything else.
I'm going to try and keep this till Christmas (around 5 weeks), then we'll see. Want to be under 70 by then.

1 kg loss a week is doable but it´s a big deficit. Given how determined you are I have no doubt you´ll be able to keep it up, although on active days you may need a little more.

Day 2 of 1200 kcal. Although going on a 12km walk with a friend so I will add another 200kcal. Scale showed 75.8kg. Just realized that in a healthy way it's not possible to get under 70 by Christmas. - 1kg / week would get me to 71. Which would also be awesome. Then by the summer something around 60 would be good. If it's under, that's my dream but I don't see that happening. I really have to work hard for that. I was under 60 once in the past 25 years at around 20. Then I reached 56kg, and still felt fat. I looked at those pictures now and I'm like omg how thin I was!

Anyway, 1200-1400 kcal for today, 12km walk and we'll see. No weighing in tomorrow.

Note: tiny amount of cheese, more protein, less fat.

Exactly. The process itself should be rewarding, not just the outcome.
