One Step at a Time

I'm glad you will be able to visit Sam at the stables and that he's going to a good home.
Good to hear you're feeling like your getting a handle on the sweets cravings--that's a tough one!

@LaMaria
I was planning on selling him, but not until the end of summer so it was kind of sudden selling him at the start of summer instead.

@Cate
Not yet. I want to get a point of being able to do that, but I'm not quite at that level yet.

Hey guys. It looks like a lot of time has passed since my last post :oops: So I suppose that means I need to do a bit of an update.

Well, I'm busy with work still and of course, busy with the horses. I did hit a slump where I felt kind of down and just stopped caring about my weight and what I ate and all that stuff so I did have one week where I ate whatever I wanted. Not exactly a good thing to do, but oh well, I did it. After that, I've gotten back on track and everything's been going much better since then. I did start a chart in order to keep track of my weight loss and I'll post a pic of it and you can see how it's been going this month.

I've been working with Jack nearly every day after work. Yesterday and today I didn't since it's been super hot, as in 29-38 C or 88-101 F. Poor boy had a few sweat spots just from standing around in his pen cause of the heat ><. But I also don't do well in heat so I totally get it. Sadie has also been doing well. She's going to have her first hoof trim in 2 weeks time so that's going to be a huge milestone for her. Also got an update about my little filly, Melody. Seriously cannot wait until I can get her in September.

So ya, I'm eating better now and I spent at least 45 mins to an hour riding 5 days a week (except this week since it's too hot to do anything without overheating). I'm getting in my workout and doing stuff. Although, I'm thinking I need to find a way to encourage myself to do some workouts in the morning as there are some muscles I want to strengthen that riding doesn't target. But I have yet to figure out that routine and start it.

Hope you all have been doing well too.

Lovely to hear from you Ann. Great pictures. You sound like you are doing really well and back on track with weight loss! Hope you check in more often--always nice to hear from you.
The heat sounds even worse where you are and I am finding it hard..Nice to hear you are playing it smart and not risking overheating--that can be so dangerous.

Thanks for the update, Ann. Staying away from bears sounds like a very good idea. I think this year has been mentally difficult for most people. I'm glad you're well. Eating healthily is the most important thing for weight-loss so try to concentrate on that :)

Hey Ann congrats on maintaining your weight in a stressful time, could have been much worse.

Good to have you back, I always like the pretty girl and her horses pictures!

Life has been rather busy since the last time I posted. I've had a couple of riding lessons, worked a lot, gone berry picking a few times, dealt with stress and had the best surprise when my dad showed up on my birthday. Haven't seen him since I stopped by for a night when I went to visit my grandma (h is mom) as she was very close to passing away (which she did a week or two after I saw her). So it was nice to see him when we could actually have fun and not when there's a lot of sadness around.

Also, by having my dad show up, my plans kind of went out the door. I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him since he wasn't staying long. So I caved and ate out with my dad 3 meals in a row. Kinda totally ruined the whole eating healthy thing I was going for but I don't mind as spending time with him was important. I also forgot to weigh myself last week in general and finally got around to it today. Looks like I haven't gained any weight. I'm still at 210.5 lbs. It was quite surprising to see that this morning, but I'm very happy about it too. Not sure how I pulled that off but hopefully now it's back to loosing weight.

Anyway, that's about all I can of for now. So here's a few pictures from my riding lesson with Jack.

Don´t be too frustrated if your weight is up at your next weigh-in: sometimes a gain seems to turn up a couple of days late for whatever reason. How wonderful that you got to spend time with your dad but I´m sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Nice to hear you feeling so positive after a lovely visit with your dad :)
That's nice too that you didn't see any weight gain after a day of indulgence. I don't imagine one day would make much difference if you've been staying on track besides that. Hope you see the scales start moving down again soon!
Great pictures again!

So my weight has been around the 209 mark this week. So I'm glad it's down a bit.

But also, I may not be able to do much for exercise for a bit. Went riding Jack today and there was an accident. The saddle slipped sideways and I hit the ground hard. My right hip was completely numb for a while and I'm pretty sure I have a minor concussion since I nearly completely lost my hearing for a few minutes, extreme light headedness, and somewhat fuzzy vision.

Definitely had a less than fun evening with that. As of now, I'm fine. My right hip is very sore though. Bending over even slightly is extremely painful. Sitting can be ok or painful, depending on how I sit. I can't move around too fast either. I did soak in a tub with epson salts and plan to use a heating pad or such on it tonight as well.

Also, Jack was amazing. As soon as I came off, he stopped and then came to stand next to me and check on me as I laid on the ground. He also stood nicely for me to use him as a jungle gym to be able to pull myself to my feet. He even supported me during dizzy spells and was calm and patient the whole time. Definitely am impressed with how it handled it and grateful for it as well.

Also no, I did not fall off when i was riding bareback like this.

That's terrible about the fall Ann--I hope you are recovering ok. Nice to hear how attentive Jack was :)
Take good care of yourself and heal quickly

Please take plenty of rest if you suspect you have a concussion. If not it can cause long-term problems with memory and concentration. Also: fresh injuries generally don't do well with heat (bath, heating pad) but usually prefer cold. I hope you feel better soon or if not that you'll be able to see a doctor.

Thanks guys. And that's interesting to know about a concussion and fresh injuries with heat. I always thought/was told heat was good for injuries. And i'm already doing better. I'll probably be sore for a while, but I'm making progress every day

@LaMaria
Yup. But bending over still hurts as does sitting in certain positions along with walking too fast lol. I tried to suck it up for a bit and try riding today to see how I'd do. Didn't go too well. It's like I lost a decent amount of strength in my legs and at most, I lasted a little 10 mins of riding before I had to call it good due to my hip/lower back hurting and was also a bit light headed by the end. So I've made some progress, but not too much.

Have you been to see a doctor about your injuries ? pushing to hard to soon can make things worse in the long run.
