Omega's new journey - time to do it again...

Thanks Cate. I'm terrible at stopping naughty things once I start...

I haven't posted in here for a few days - so it is time to bring things up to date.

Everything is going pretty well here.

My weight this morning was 15st 10 so things are still moving in the right direction.
This is exactly 2 stone less than my weight at the start of March.:party:

LOL I only have another 4.75 pounds to lose to get to the weight that I had at the start of this diary...

My food has been pretty good - it has been healthy and low calorie - although I missed my 5-a-day for yesterday as we ran out of salad stuff when we ate so much salad last week... We get a new shopping delivery today to last until next Tuesday. I included 4 cucumbers and 6 punnets of vine tomatoes in my order. Now is the time that we cross our fingers and hope that we get things delivered that we asked for... You can never be too sure of such things... We have recently changed supermarket delivery from Morrisons to Tesco as Morrisons was regularly leaving out too many things from the order... Tesco has been more reliable...

My exercise has hit my targets... I have been out for my standard walk each day and done some zumba too... The last two days I managed to do 8 tracks of zumba - although I am pausing it and having a rest between tracks when I need a break.

I am hoping to build up to doing to doing a whole hour of Zumba - but that will take time...

I've been out driving twice since I last posted. :auto: On Saturday was my first time driving in the rain. I drove to a small town which is 20 miles west of where I live along a fast road and back. After that we drove near the hospital 4.6 miles away and from there a couple of miles further to drive past the house of one of Rod's friends. Then back home..

No driving on Sunday or Monday as there were 40mph winds here - and it would have been foolish to even think about driving in that. I went out about 11am this morning with Rod and we went along the same fast road as Saturday - but we went a bit further to a place about 26 miles away and back.

Hi Margaret just had a read of some of your diary. Thought I would say hello as I was very likely a neighbor of yours around Heathrow for years . Best of luck with your weight loss and your husband’s health and your mum

Thanks for visiting and the good wishes Petal.
Whereabouts were you near Heathrow? We were in Sunbury on Thames for decades and my husband is from Twickenham,
Where are you now?

Hey Margaret, I am just trying to catch up on your diary. First of all 2 stone down since March is great, a real accomplishment, good for you!
The last three years have seen me have a fair bit of stress - and predictably I gained weight.
I suspect most of us have done much the same, I certainly have. Good for you going after it again!

You are off to a really good start, I am looking forward to following your progress!

Thanks for visiting Rob and cheering me on.

I am such a repeat offender... Anyone would think that having already done a project which meant dropping 168 pounds I would be so "on top of everything" that I would not end up with having to do another big project...

I have just noticed your footing... 320 to 174 is excellent going... You are storming ahead with this. Well done!

Thanks Maria.

I certainly feel a lot fitter than I did which will really be good for my dancing... I'm really looking forward to the next stone and a half... Reading back through the pages at the start of this diary - I am reminded of the weight I was when I had such a lovely compliment on my dancing by Moe Flex when he danced with me at that time. Although I was noticeably overweight I was able to make up by things with my knowledge of dance technique... If dance events are allowed to resume we will see him in October and it would be brilliant to be down to there by then.

Up a pound today :( Sometimes the time we eat and toilet activity is not on our side... I know that I was good with my food and exercise yesterday - so I am not at all concerned about it.

If you're weighing every day that's just a thing that happens. I'm sure it'll be gone by tomorrow. Knowing exactly what you'll be capable of at a certain weight must be great motivation!

Some day I am going to try and remember all of my weight losses and gains, probably not possible but I'd bet I have lost 1,000 lbs over my life, so repeat offender is a very familiar place to me. For you the important thing is that you are still trying and succeeding at losing weight, that's great!

I am sure you have been at this long enough to know the difference between bounces and real weight gain and loss. I weigh all the time, once or more per day, it has helped me better understand the ups and downs. I use a kind of 3 day rolling average Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and then post my "official" weight weekly on Wednesday. It helps keep the noise to a minimum, but doesn't eliminate it. Being good with your food and exercise is something you can do everyday, so that is more important than the pound up or down. But I think you know that as well or better than I.

Thanks for visiting Maria and Rob

On my big project I weighed every day in the weigh every day club. LOL I have just remembered that I had an amazing spreadsheet where I monitored just about everything that could have an impact... (LOL Sheldon on Big Bang Theory would have been impressed by my spreadsheet as it listed everything)… Whether I end up doing something like that again - only time will tell. I haven't got quite that eccentric yet on this project.

At the minute I feel my exercise is good if I walk a set route for my outdoor walk and do some Zumba (which I am building up). I have a master plan where I am capable of doing at least an hour of Zumba as soon as group classes re-start. It will be a good opportunity to catch up with salsa friends as a lot will do Zumba.

I am keeping my food really healthy and trying to avoid pitfall foods that I have difficulty resisting.

If I keep both the exercise and nutrition on track then I know that weight loss will come.

:auto:update:
I have been out for a drive today. First we went to a garage 4 miles away and back for petrol. Then we went to a bike shop where Rod wanted to check out electric bikes which was 27 miles away. Then we came home a long way round which was about 33 miles... It was raining heavily for part of the way home.

Rod wants to investigate electric bikes in case his eye tests do not go the way we would like. You do not need a driving license to drive an electric bike. He has been investigating online - but waiting ages to see them - but obviously had no way of getting there until I could drive this distance.

Time to update my diary...

I'll do a global update covering the rest of Wednesday plus Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I did my standard walks each day.
I built my daily Zumba up to 10 tracks for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, increasing to 12 tracks on Saturday.
I'm really pleased with how this is building up.

The only naughty food treat was a 70g bon mamon chocolate dessert on Saturday - otherwise clean.

brunch was either weetabix or a salad with protein.

Wednesday dinner was roast pork with lots of veg
Thursday dinner cold roast pork and salad
Friday dinner cold roast pork and salad
Saturday grilled lamb burgers and salad

Wednesday we had a snack of blueberries and 0% Greek yoghurt
Thursday we had a snack of raspberries and 0% Greek yoghurt

All I've had more than that is some s/f sweets and diet cola.

Generally all has been going well with the weight loss project and my weight is coming down nicely. 15st 8.25 this morning (Sunday).
I'm 3 pounds above my weight at the start of this diary.

:auto: update

Thursday we went firstly to for the first time towards the centre of town and tried to pick up a parcel at the post office delivery office that had tried to be delivered on Wednesday. We got there at 11:10am 10 minutes after it had shut. It was 2 miles in each direction.
Then we set off and initially retraced many of our steps on Wednesday and went to the bike shop (27 miles).
From there we headed to a shop 26 miles from there through villages and quiet roads.
From there we headed home on a fast road (21 miles)

Friday we just went to the post office delivery office to collect the parcel (2 miles into town each way).

No driving on Saturday - we decided that it was a good idea to avoid driving as it was the first day of the pubs being open after nearly 4 months of lockdown... Wary of drunken drivers!

There is currently high winds so we might not get out today either...

I'm rubbish at updating diaries... Time for another global update.

I did my walking every day.
The zumba has now been built up to 13 tracks a day.

We now have a date when gym's will re-open which might lead to zumba starting soon afterwards...
Gyms may re-open on 25th July and people are having meetings where ventillation is discussed as this is part of the criteria.

We have contacted a gym to say that we will re-join the gym from the day that zumba restarts.

My food has been good all week. Lots of salads... Much the same as the previous week.

I hit a low weight on Thursday of 15st 6.5 - but up to 15st 7 today.

:auto: update

we didnt get out driving on Sunday.
I have been out driving every day this week.
Wednesday was my first professional lesson. It lasted 2 hours and the instructor said that it went well.
Our car is an automatic - but the lesson was in a manual car - as my license covers me for both...
Considering it was my first time in a manual car in 34 years - going through the gears went fairly well...
When I last dove a manual they had 4 gears and this car had 6...
When the instructor asked me about where I had been driving around - I told him that I hadnt been on the motorway.
We drove along the same fast road heading west that I have been along a few times in his lesson.
He then said that he would take me for my next lesson on the motorway.
Since learners do not normally go on motorways (they are only allowed on in a driving school car with instructor) we took that as a good sign.

I have a 2 hour lesson booked for next Wednesday.

Well done on obviously honing your driving skills. It’s good having you back here, Margaret :)

Are you starting to feel more confident/comfortable in the car? If not be sure to ask your instructor for plenty of feedback. Sounds like you're doing great on food and exercise!

It’s good having you back here, Margaret :)

Thank you for being so welcoming...

Well done on obviously honing your driving skills.

I'm trying my best

Are you starting to feel more confident/comfortable in the car?

I think that things are beginning to improve... I knew up front that I was going to be driving on Saturday as we promised to visit some people... Rod has been missing playing toy soldiers since March when their club closed due to the virus... He arranged a game with a friend at the friend's house... The men had fun playing the game and I sat in the garden with the friend's wife chatting and getting to know her... Anyway - a few weeks ago I would have been unable to sleep if I had known that I was driving the next day... That's why I told Rod not to tell me until the last minute... I must be getting better in that I knew about last weeks lesson two days earlier and although I was apprehensive I slept ok... I also was ok on Friday night about Saturday...

I certainly still find it a bit stressful though... Sunday was our wedding anniversary (34 years) and I told Rod that I didn't really feel like driving anywhere...

Considering that the weekend included an element of "new normal" socialising and our wedding anniversary I am pleased that my weight is still heading generally in the right direction...

15st 5.25 this morning

This is exactly the same weight as I had in March 2017 as I started this diary...

Yes - I am delighted to be the weight I was when I was worried about how high my weight was 3 + years ago...

:auto: driving update

Thursday - we went into town, crossed a bridge and drove to a DHL centre to post a parcel
Friday - we went on quite a long drive heading west along the military road near the Roman wall - and back along the fast road...
It would be a round trip of about 80 miles...
Saturday - as outlined above to Rod's friends house
Sunday - nothing
Monday - we had a parcel to pick up in town and Rod wanted to go to the bike shop again and we wanted to go to another shop - so we literally did exactly the same round trip which I outlined for the Thursday when I posted on 5th (78 miles).

Great to hear you´re starting to feel less nervous and AWESOME that you´re back to your weight from over 3 years ago!

Your driving seems to be going really well. I will be very happy when I get back to my 2017 weight too. I get it, that’s for sure.

15st 5.25 this morning
Good for you, I am sure more new lows are in your future.

Congrats on you anniversary, 34 years is a good start!
