Not Stopping This Time

I had a small fight with the wife yesterday. But it was much less toxic than previous fights and we made up right away. It was actually a little refreshing.

I was sick yesterday again. Took a two-hour nap after I got home. It helped a lot, but still sick. Also I can literally see my metabolism getting slowed down because I shave daily and I didn't grow any facial hair yesterday. That was a first. My weight is pretty much the same, which is a relief since I have been sick. I think after today when my health get's back to normal my weight will start dropping again. Overall I am just happy that my weight didn't jump up this time.

My coworker suggested getting some vitamin supplements since I have been a little ill lately and I am eating much less than before. So I went the the vitamin store an got a men's multivitamin and some vitamin C tablets. I heard vitamin C can help our immune system fight minor sicknesses. Hopefully the vitamins will help me feel a little better in general.

That is totally true. Have you tried natural antibiotics? I mean those from real food? It is the best way to recover, because a natural medicines fight with the illness and making the immune system strong at the same time :)
Chemical medicines fight with illness but makes the immune system weak which is sad that so many people prefer them.
I was saying that "tongue in cheeck." Of course I do believe food can have medicinal value. I just think that many foods we eat to feel better are actually not helping from a weight-loss point of view. If I were not trying to lose weight, I am sure I would eat more to feel better this time.

Don't overdo it on the vit C. If you're taking a multivitamin and eating ANY fruit or veg you're probably over what will be helpful already and massively excessive amounts (some vit C tablets have ludicrous dosage) aren't great for the body. Glad to hear your marital communication seems to be improving though!

What food could make you feel better in your opinion? :)

Why you think witamin C is so bad in bigger dosage?

It's not the worst of all bad things but it can cause nausea, diarrhea, and kidney stones, all without evidence that larger-than-recommended amounts actually have any benefits. So why risk it? You won't get toxic amounts from food alone but supplements can be crazy high, especially in countries like the US where they're basically unregulated.

I see. Just wanted to know your point :)
An overdose of vitamin C through food or supplementation isn't possible because the vitamin C is excreted in the urine.
But it is better to consume it from natural sources because in medical there are many different other substances that are in the composition of the tablet, which can damage the digestive system in a long period of time.

It IS excreted in the urine but that 1) takes hours (which is why the body may try to get rid of it through diarrhea or vomiting) and 2) is bad for the kidneys if you do it long-term (hence the risk of kidney stones. I repeat: you're not going to reach a toxic dosis through food alone but high-dosage supplements can definitely do the trick. Especially when you're taking both a multi and a specific. Vitamin C is great but more isn't always better.

For the vitamin C, I am just going to take it when I feel a cold coming.

My friend and I went on a jog today at work. It was a shock to my system. We are going to start doing it daily. I think this will help get my metabolism up.

Hi, Kyle. I'm glad to hear you & your wife are getting better with resolving conflict & that you are getting over your cold. Jogging will get your metabolism up for sure. I hope it's not too much of a shock to your system. :)

Because my weight was stagnant for three days and I feared popping up over 260 again, I felt that yesterday was very important. I implemented jogging (running?) and multivitamins. So I was very serious about the weight going down by this morning. It did go down to 270, which is 1.6 lbs. pounds down from yesterday. I needed to see that loss today for psychological reasons. So I am relieved.

It's also very good that my friend/coworker started dieting and running with me. It shows that I can have a positive influence on others, and now I have someone on my side. He is less overweight than me, and has less to lose, but I am catching up with him. Muahahaha.

I will keep up the running and hopefully it will keep helping me drop some weight.

I wasn't able to take a run yesterday. When I got home my wife let me take time to go to the gym. So I went. This time I focused more on weight loss, pushing myself to do more reps with slightly lighter weights ("ight"x3).

For dinner I had one bowl (no seconds) of homemade chicken soup. I added vinegar and lemon juice for flavor. I was tempted to have an after-dinner snack of a sweet potato and flax milk, but I forced myself to skip it.

I lost 2 lbs.! Now down to 255. I am very satisfied with this. It makes me wonder if these multivitamins are contributing to weigth loss.

Both Tabasco AND lemon juice sound great.

Today I was busy. So I didn't have time to eat lunch. So I just took it as an intermittent fast. Also I went for a run again twice around the block. I could feel my running was a bit smoother, but the time it took was less. I am just going to wait until dinner to eat. Hoping I can drop some weight today again.

One coworker decided to make a bet he could lose more weight then me in the next 1-month time. I warned him I intend to lose alot of weight. But he still wanted to make the bet. Oh well, easy money. I guess he is betting I will give up on my weightloss and he will be able to beat me. Anyways it will be good for him to lose some weight.

Your reps per set were already on the high side, what benefit do you expect to get from your changes ? Lifting heavier with lower reps is of more benefit in calorie deficit for maintaining muscle mass.

Why didn't you say anything before? Good to know.

Be careful with that please. If he's just starting out he'll likely have a big first week drop to give him a leg up. Don't let competitiveness cloud your judgment and keep you from giving your body the food it needs to function well.
