No More Free beer, just a journal

Motivation is key Shaun! Thats what I use the beer for - if I follow my workout & diet plan for 6 days straight, I have a steak and a couple of cold ones on a Sunday night to congratulate myself - works for me :D

hi Chris!
nice pic....but where did your hair go? :O

Hi Sadie - I had a moment of madness and went for a summer buzzcut. lol. I've been growing it out for about a week now and, in another week or two, should be back to having a 'normal' haircut!!

Okay, to business.

Back & biceps last night with - workout was good as I was using my new toy, a hi/low pulley machine with preacher attachment. Best workout my back has had in ages! I need to get some new cable attachments but, the machine was definitely money well spent.

sounds like a plan!!!!!

In a moment of madness today, I wacked another 20kg onto my legpress. Surprisingly, I almost completed the full 3 sets. Changed a few things round and swapped the press machine for dumbell presses. Definitely made me work harder!

Good workout overall, ball planks at the end were a killer. 20 mins steady state treadmill to finish me off cmopletely, even managing a 60 sec sprint at the end!!

I'm going to be in pain in the morning!! haha

Yesterday was HIIT day - can't honestly say I enjoyed it but, if you enjoy HIIT, you're doing something wrong!!

Chest & triceps today - didn't feel as strong as usual. Might have something to do with the '100 consecutive pressup' challenge I got myself involved in last night (I managed 67 and it almost killed me! heh). I think I may start up on the creatine again starting Monday.

Was browsing the internet as you do and came across Berardi's 'get shredded' diet. It is almost identical to what I've been doing for the last few weeks. No wonder I'm dropping bodyfat so quick! The main difference is that I'm still having carbs in the shape of muesli for breakfast but, apart from that, the caloric intake and macro breakdown are pretty close. Oh, plus I have a re-feed day once a week rather than once a fortnight. If I start to plateau I may try to follow what he suggests more closely.

Beer & steak day tomorrow :D

I have to say, I just got such a kick out of the title of your post. It sure made me look! :beerchug:

Hope you weren't too disapointed that the title of 'free beer' is just a title and not a genuine offer!! ;)

Now then - Back & biceps on a Monday (which is usually my rest day!). I'm planning ahead as I'll be away next weekend and want to make sure that I get all 3 workouts in before Saturday morning. The fact that I'm not getting much stronger can be frustrating at times but, I am much happier with the alternative for now. CUT, CUT, CUT! :D

I cut out bent over dumbell rows today for 2 reasons. 1) I have just about outgrown my heaviest dumbell for the excercise (25kg) and 2) I recently added seated rows later in the workout which is essentially working the same muscles. It also means my biceps are less fatigued when I'm doing my preacher curls.

20 mins steady state on the treadmill. Constant 2% incline throughout.

...Where's my beer?

:D

What is your HIIT like? Are you on the verge of fainting and light headed when you do it?

:p

Nice journal and catchy title btw - keep it up.

Eric

Hey Chris, since you're going shopping, I hear "they're having a sale at Pennys."

10 cool points if you can name the movie that quote comes from.

Sorry, but I just HAD to post in here - I could quite possibly end up being the new beer lover around here - Im quite partial to beer, and even now am drinking some, as part of my "last night of freedom" before tomorrow!

Good luck with your workout... wish me luck too!

Shaun

Please refrain from speaking of beer until you've had years of drinking under your belt and can discern good beer from bad.

Dammit, I could have done with some cool points!! I think I remember it but, its a distant memory closed off in some rarely used part of my brain! Please put me out of my misery - what movie is it?!

Airplane. It's where they're in the tower and they think the plane is going to crash.

[reading newspaper headlines]
Rex Kramer: Passengers certain to die!
Steve McCroskey: Airline negligent.
Johnny: There's a sale at Penney's!

Newspaper Headline: Boy trapped in refrigerator eats own foot.

Well, considering I haven't watched that movie for over 15 years, I think I can be forgiven for forgetting :)

Did 45 mins on the stationary bike yesterday. Hooked up the spare TV so I could watch the olympics at the same time and the time just flew by...

Pulled something in my shoulder last night doing dumbell presses. Nothing serious but, is a little sore (note to self: try stretching before a workout!)

Worked legs pretty hard although, amazingly pain free this morning! Ball plank to failure at the end which was weird - no idea how long I was holding the plank for but, my body was close to convulsing by the end!!

Threw in some drop sets yesterday which I enjoyed. Will probably incorporate them into every workout I think.

Well, thats the holiday over and done with and now back the serious business of training!

As all holidays do, mine involved many excesses and so, have been hitting the gym again this week with renewed vigour!!

I'll be doing without the cheat meals and beers at the weekend for a while. In fact, apart from my birthday, I'll be off the booze completely until the festive season (at least, thats the plan!)

Thanks for the welcome flyinfree although, I'm not so new - been loitering round these pages for a few years now on and off :) (Oh, and sorry about the false promise of free beer!!) ;)

Quick roundup of the last few days. Haven't had a rest day in the last week, even trained legs and shoulders on a Sunday (yes, you heard right, on a Sunday!!) and yesterday, I did 2 cardio sessions!! That might be the first time in living history I've done cardio twice in one day!!

Was only going to do cardio today but, had a rubbish day at work (I hate clients sometimes!) so, hit the weights (back & biceps) aswell to help de-stress. Feeling much better now :D

Toying with the idea of an HIIT session tomorrow but, it'll largely depend on my mood...

Even though this is in "Journal", I never would have thought this was a journal from the title.

I almost never opened up your thread ... I don't like beer, so free or not, it doesn't matter to me! I'm just one of those chicks that can't stand the smell of beer ... I don't mind the taste, though.

Your physique is very, very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress in a few months' time :)

Thanks for your kind words i_love_muscle.

Now, with regards the thread title, it had to be changed because Evo and Mreik said if I didn't actually give them any free beer, they would be forced to start calling me bad names and tell people I was really a girl! I really didn't like the sound of that so, I gave them all the beer I had and said I was very sorry.

Henceforth, this is now but a humble journal...

(although beer donations will be gratefully accepted ;) )
