I used to drink a lot of pop when I was a teenager. After giving it up, it took a while for the cravings to stop. I think my body had to adjust. Now when I can even smell pop, I feel sick. There are other foods I've given up that I still have cravings for, but the cravings eventually lessened over time. If you give your body time to adjust, it will be easier.
 
Hey Mols, you would be welcome to post here. This is a good place for those of us fighting the binge urge. Just trying not to one day at a time.

Hey River Bird, welcome! Good for you giving up pop, that is an accomplishment!

No binge here today, and though I did sense some cravings nothing was too hard to resist.

I'll write about day 1 in my journal. I can see this is going to be a difficult battle. I think it may help to start by avoiding foods which reinforce the crave cycle, like carbs and refined sugars (which are also inflammatory foods), or salty-crunchy snack foods.
 
I do fine with complex carbs but pure sugar (looks at bag of Haribo strawberries :cry: ) and chips are my downfall. Or they used to be. I feel sick much more quickly when eating sweets these days (you´d think it´d stop me trying at some point) and chips somehow feel less appealing than corn cakes. So I get where you´re coming from! Still overdid it on chocolate and Haribo today though. Not mad about it: I´d clearly been undereating again because about half an hour after diving into the chocolate my back stopped hurting (nothing wrong with it; it just refuses to hold itself upright when I´m in too much of a deficit). No matter how much I´d like to lose weight quickly my body does not want to give up its hard-earned fat when I push too hard. And it can dole out more punishment than is bearable long-term. (I´m sure there are people who can take it but I am not a badass.) So back to having more nuts and fruit it is.
 
Hey Mols, you will have to figure out what works for you. Avoiding certain foods does help a lot of people. The main thing is just not to binge.

Good for you Vic, that is great!

Another one of those days where I had trouble eating enough. The good thing was that I found enough calories left at day's end to have a high calorie beer, a barley wine really. No binge!

If you're able to really enjoy the occasional beer for your calories it can be a great treat. The only alcohol I really still enjoy is in the form of Sommerspritzer so no temptation for me there. But I did buy a bag of Riesen caramels on my way to therapy yesterday and ate the lot :argue: They weren't even satisfying but I still ate them all. Will do better today.

I sure know that feeling and my reaction was often to try eating more in hopes of satisfying, but it never worked. I am sure you will do better!

No binge here, in fact it was another of those days where I had to work to get enough calories. Better than a binge for sure, but more evidence that I cannot rely on my instincts when it comes to eating.

I think you suppressed your instincts in one direction for years, then in the other direction for another year. No wonder they´ve gone to sleep! But today is not forever and forever is a piece of crap (as Jes from Diary of a Mom always says).

I haven’t posted here in a while . You are all managing ok by the sounds of it . No binging and no urges for me for a little while . Eating very well and healthy so I guess that is why
 
So yesterday I did not b/p. Did give in to the temptations. I did overeat.

Today I’m doing well. No b/p. Did have cravings for the dessert that I ate after lunch.

This week I’ll do better.
 
Hey Petal, good to see you here, even better to know you are eating well and healthy without binges! That is great. Just stop in here when you need to, and I am hoping that is not too often!

I skipped dinner yesterday so may get cravings today but the goal is to have three delicious, somewhat high-calorie but still moderately healthy meals in and leave it at that.
