Need Your Help - Fitness.com redesign

These comments are unnecessary, and irrelevant to my "intent statement" I made pretty clear. You are missing the business point and taking it too personal.

Therefore, I haven't made a definitive personal judgment about you, TM.

Not taking it personal at all. But if you want to call me out and say that I ruined something, then I would like a rebuttal.

Maybe not a definitive, but it is pretty clear bud. Every complaining post you make seems to have my initials in it.

Business point? All you do is say that other people should do this and other people should do that. We're people on an internet forum, just people. A moderator is there to clean spam and moderate posts if needed.

Understood.

True, we are people on the internet---using a forum--with some only making excuses why they can't do something to improve the forum......don't like what I said, so be it.

WE....the participaters, users, and contributors of this forum, are the only ones that can improve this forum, and until we wake up and realize this, our forum will not improve. And, you can get mad at me and some of you can dislike me all you want to, but this is my opinion, and what I firmly believe.

If we "want" to improve the forum, we can.....that is the bottom line.

If you want something out of life.......you have to go F--n get it.

I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. If I told you its not true that I dislike you, this is exactly what I mean; if you choose to believe differently, so-be-it.

If I did dislike you, I would have no embarrassment in being frank and telling you just that, trust me.

Disliking an "action" of a person is not the same as disliking the person performing the action.

The position/stature of the person doesn't make a difference in THIS respect and context. I rarely complain (and you know this is true), and I am NOT complaining now. Its the "attitude" of responses turning it this way, and this is sad.

Lets move on shall we?

Good.

Peace.

Best wishes,

Chillen

You make this forum sound like a cult.

I don't use the main page at all and I just checked it out. There doesn't seem to be all that much to offer there, at least for me.

Some misinterpretations simply amaze me. Just stating what I believe: We are the only ones that can improve this forum--together ALL of us in unity and with purpose. They say, there is no "I" in team. However, I add this: There is an "I" in win, and when we unit together, this is the result.

Want to improve the forum.

Unite for THIS purpose, and be conistent about it.

Not rocket science, my friend.

We should have a petty arguement forum where we can all bitch about one another and act like children.

U should post a bit more. I like the last week or so where we had a guest appearance form Oil (however BigTomW may disagree) where there used to be 30-40 members logged on looking in amazement. The last time there was a bit of riff-raff it was over a certain member and chicken legs though I wont go into details.

It seems people like a little bit of excitement. :D

ok seriously. It's ok to go after arguments, but don't make nonsense posts.

Anyone read this

Come on guys, suggestions for the main fitness.com page are still needed, I love talking crap as much as the next guy but we've had 90% crap in here so far and we should be making a few helpful comments as well

Helpful comments from me.

When I came to this forum in 2005 I had absolutely no clue about health and fitness. People like Tony, Aevans, Hoss and others helped me out alot. They did this by reading my questions, answering them simply and directly. Without the need to over complicate things. This forum used to be a simple place.

I think the many subforums have made this forum complicated and for that reason posts are remaining largely un answered.

That gives me a little idea. The reason I stuck around was also the great advice from people like Hoss, TonyM, Derwyddon, theleip, geogan and Evo. Having guys like Karky around that at the time were quite weak and skinny like me but had the same kind of goals really helped too.

Maybe when there’s a really good post made, like the weight training 101 sticky, or a funny/interesting thread or poll we should have links to those threads on the main fitness.com page. That way people visiting the main page will be drawn here, see what a great bunch we are (we’ll have to ban Chillen first) and keep coming back :)

The science is the cool part, IMO, but we don't need to confuse newbies with it.I love a discussion going into the science behind different adaptations, discuss some articles, etc. But that should really be kept separate from when we try to help out newbies who don't even know what hypertrophy means.

Fitness.com is in the process of doing a redesign. We need feedback from you guys on what you want.
Okay. Here goes. I realise the majority of previous replies are off-topic but I'll do my best to reply.

First off, do you use the main website?
No I don't use the main website but I've had a look now. The calculators and so on are cool but I have some I use that i have permanently bookmarked.

If yes, what features do you use?
N/A

What features / improvements would you like to see on the main website?
> Seeing the main website links to three different sites, why not some harmonisation across the different sites (bodybuilding, weightloss and training)?
>The problem for me is that the main page does not have much to attract. It should have some unique content so that one can be tempted to land there before coming to the forum.
> Perhaps the logos and branding of the three forums could be harmonised so that fitness.com logo on training.fitness.com appears on the others as well.
> See below from ideas from devshed.

What features / improvements would you like to see on this forum?
You can borrow a few of the ideas from another forum devshed

> You can view rep comments for each post made.
> The RSS news item on that site is cool. Imagine an RSS for fitness news.
> Look at the intergration of the site devshed.com and the forums, articles.
> The shoutbox is cool I'm sure people here would love it.

> Seeing the main website links to three different sites, why not some harmonisation across the different sites (bodybuilding, weightloss and training)?

Great to see soemone answer the actual question :)

Just curious with this point though, are you suggesting we merge them or just make them look similar? I'd hate to have the weightloss people over here

From a technical/content perspective it would be good for a site to have a sort of similar look across all of them and reduce redundancy in each sub-site. From a functional perspective, I dunno I have never followed the other forums. Lets see what alcdnboy thinks. :p
