My 1000th post.

i understand the clean is a wonderful exercise but unfortunantly i dont know if all of us know how to do it correctly. i myself, dont know if i have good form. i have no coach to watch me.
as much as i would love to start getting good at power cleans or the variations, its impractical for me :/
i also dont have anywhere i can throw my weights down.

squats, bench, and deadlifts are the powerlifting standards correct?

yessiry bob!

I suck at cleans, I hate them, but do them so I can get better at them. IT's so different than every other lift I'm used to.

merc, did you add me on aim yet?
imfitbit

we have not heard from woodt yet about if he is participating in the 3v3 so far though. i hope he is

we originally stated that we max out the 1st day of each month. mayb less frequently. but it is ok if you max out whenever. we just want the numbers on the first day of each month so we can see who is in the lead/making a short term goal.

Yeah I maxed out on my bench today :). Got 170 up so I can do my bodyweight now!! Now all I gotta do is get my squat to catch up. I lowered the weight...again...to get my technique perfect. So I hope this pays off.

So my workout today
Bench Press
warmup 95 pounds x 10
MAX- 170 x1
MAX- 175x 0 failed
Max- 175x0 failed
Max- 175x0 failed

Squats
Warmup 95x5
Warmup 95x5
Working set 135x5
Working set 135x5
Working set 135x5
Working set 135x5
Working set 135x5

I took 2-3 minute breaks to emphazise strength.

Bent-over-rows
warmup 45x5
warmup 65x5
Working set 95x5
Working set 95x5
Working set 95x5
Working set 95x5
Working set 95x5

Powercleans
120x0 (lmao, the weight must have been do heavy I came way down like doing a front squat and fell backwards :( )
115x3
115x3
115x3

Odd with powercleans, I can do 3x3 with 115 but then when I try 120 its like impossible.

I say weights lifted must be done without the use of belts and anything els like that. Merely for the fact that likely we all do not have access to them. It would leave a person with an unfair advantage, IMO.

So, I vote for totally "organic" lifts. That which you can do with your body on a free weight without any aids of any kind.

that makes perfect sense. bench shirts and knee wraps, squat suits are also definetly not allowed lol. good point, silent. hows the workouts been going?

Going well, Todays a lifting day So ill be hitting the weights here in a few.

I havn't been able to buy more weights yet. But, I'm going to try to see if I can some how "rig" my old non olympic weight plates to fit on my olympic bar;).

lol...thats the reason im not getting a olympic bar.
holes in the weights are too small to fit. so i just buy standard weights...my bar can hold a good 300-400 lbs though, yet it starts to bend very slightly at 225+ on squats. it will last me to christmas.

Kinda messed up my workout tommorow. Friend betted me $5 he could bench 120 more them me. He got it 8 times, I got it 10 times :) .

I'm not going to max without a belt on squat or dead. 90%+ I always use a belt, I'm not trying to F*** myself up

They're perfectly acceptable for powerlifting competitions, but not acceptable for you? lol :p

If you're wanting to do that, why don't you just ban olympic barbells too because it makes it easier for deadlifts -.- lol

I have returned :p

Yeah boys. 3 vs 3. Going gym later so I should have a list of my lifts. Erm my school sports day got cancelled so I have to kind of stay in track shape till Friday 13th July. But I'm kind of thinking about just going for strength now.

KK, lets get this thing going.

awesome, woodt! right on!

? why would it f*** you up?

well, merc if you want to be the only guy who has a squat suit or bench shirt to compete, go ahead. :) i know you wont take the clothes enhancing way out ;)

or we can just have everyone use olympic barbells :)its not that big of a deal. i have a standard barbell but i dont see it as a disadvantage at all.

what about stance/grip when doing the lifts?
like is a wide squat acceptable?
is a sumo deadlift/any other grip deadlift acceptable?
is a super wide grip bench ok?

you wont **** yourself if your core can handle it. Though using belts on 90% + lifts is acceptable IMO, if the contest is without belts, find your 1RM without a belt, just dont try to squat or dead asmuch as you can with a belt, without a belt.

awesome. that looks VERY familiar to my maxes(before).
except i think my squat would be closer than the dead and the dead may b a little lower. not sure

it seems we are all on a somewhat similar page.

Yeah, I really want all my lifts up by 50lbs or so. Hoping to achieve that by October.
