Motivational sayings and/or affirmations.

Quoting from my Easter message today from Cohen's-
"Happy Easter!

Eating healthy and losing weight is not just about looking good. It's about your health and the quality of your life. It's about getting your body to perform at top efficiency, maintaining your energy levels, having normalised blood pressure, and preventing heart attacks, cardiovascular disease, and other ailments that can threaten your life if you don't take your health seriously.

It is the perfect time now to reflect on how far you have come, make some new short term goals and get organised to make sure you are prepared and you will reach those goals!

Enjoy what is left of April."

Everything that you eat counts.
Eat slowly and mindfully.
It's ok to say no to people who offer you food that you don't want.

This has been in issue for me all of my life. If I ever said no when my family offered me food, they would get so offended... I don't understand. There isn't even a cultural difference between us because then I'd understand. But why the offense? All of them are older than me (aunts, grandmother etc) and I have to respect them and continue to be polite. So I learned "if they offer, just take it"
But then last year in May I started my lifestyle change and when I would be with family again they'd offer me their fried take-out and once more I'd say, oh so politely, "no thank you." with a nice smile and everything (over compensating for what I feel they'll take offense to). They again look sour and take offense. But this time there was the added "Oh it's because you're doing that healthy thing you don't want to eat my food isn't it? Don't be snobby. Can't you eat this just once?"

*sigh

Thank goodness my amazing grampa spoke up for me.
But I have yet, since May 2010, said yes to any unhealthy food they've offered.

It's a bit tiresome and some times I feel like I'm walking on eggshells.
But it's been a year. I'm in control of what goes into my mouth not them. I'm the one that will be upset and I'd be the one that has to live with the fact that I kept on eating all of their food and gained 12 pounds of fat that took me 2 months to lose. I have goals for myself and I'm not going to let them ruin my progress.

I've lost 70lbs with only 30lbs to go. I'm so happy with my life and I've never felt this way before. I don't want to lose this feeling.

Emerald- GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

Saying no to food-
Is often hard when it's being offered by people you love or are very close to you as you are afraid you will offend them.
It's ok to say no, when you do it politely.
You're entitled to work toward your goal of losing weight.
So, they may be disappointed for a short while..
It's ok to disappoint others. Disappointment is a normal part of life. They should accept it.
If you were a vegetarian would you eat meat just to please someone? If you were on a special diet for medical reasons, would you abandon that diet just to spare someone's feelings?
You're entitled to do what is right for you, as long as you're polite (but firm if necessary). People who give you a hard time are the ones who are being unreasonable, not you.

Thank you Emerald :)

Few things really worthwhile are easy. When you succeed in accomplishing your most challenging goals, you will experience the greatest satisfaction.

This is not only true for my weight loss journey but this is why instead of complaining about how much schooling I have to do to become a Scientist I appreciate the fact that I'm able to do this in the first place. I really do love the subjects of class so that is a bonus for me! The love for Biology keeps me awake in class when I haven't gotten enough rest. The love for Biology makes me forget that I'm nervous to be called on and instead I shout out answers on my own. The love for Biology allows me to smile when in groups even though I normally feel uncomfortable in a crowd of strangers.

MOLECULES ROCK!!!!! YEAH!!!!!! *ahem* sorry...

Emerald- don't be sorry for expressing passion! Ever! :D
