It took a week of cheating after my daughters wedding to finally get back on this diet. During that week I gained 8 pounds of the 30 I lost. I had soooo much food left over after the wedding and it kept calling my name. This is my first child to get married. I never realized that I would feel depressed after the wedding was over. I remember 25 years ago when I got married. The excitement of the wedding was followed by the excitement of the honeymoon, followed by the excitement of setting up your first apartment, followed with the the little miles stones such as your 1 month anniversary, etc. When my daughter got married, I was sooooo busy with all the preparations, and for what, "a 2 - 3 hour party" that costs thousands followed by days of cleanup? But as of this morning I am finally down to what I weighed for her wedding. I am on 1200 calories this week and doing pretty good. What helps is that I have to work 5 10 hour days and an 8 hour day this week so I'm not around all the food at home. Monday I go back to 600/900. My husband will be gone to California for the week to visit his brother so that should make the 600 days easier.

Way to get back on track Keephoping - looks like nothing can stop you now. I haven't had a child get married and had a small wedding myself so thanks for the insights.

Just reporting in to say I'm still at 174 and keeping the appetite under control and calories 1800-2000.

Had a walk yesterday, used some weights today plus shopping, laundry, cooking, gardening.

Hope things are still going well for you Funkyonions. You should have plenty of time to get in great shape for that reunion. I went to the Tantara Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks last year and it's pretty much self contained with restaurants, boating, swimming etc. Lots of windy hilly drives going to cabins around the peninsula jutting into the Lake. It was voted one of the top family resorts in Midwest Living magazine some years ago.

3rd day of 600 calories. Actually I didn't do so good yesterday. I went to my son's school orchestra concert and my youngest daughter brought a bag of bugles. Boy did those bugles call my name all evening. Even after I had 4 handfuls of them. But so far today I am doing pretty good. As long as I can ignore the growl in my stomach and the chicken patties the children are eating for dinner since I already used up all my calories for today. My co-worker is doing pretty good. She's at the 3rd day of her first week of her second rotation. So far she's lost 11 pounds which is pretty good considering that each day she has about 300 extra calories that she doesn't count because she says can't survive the day without coffee ( and flavored creamer).

I am so happy to have found a group of people doing variations of this diet! Dr. Katahn's rotation diet worked for me back in high school, but since I've gained an additional 70 lbs on top of the 250 I weighed back then. I'm getting married in September and I so desperately do not want to look like I do now in my wedding pictures. I thought about trying to do 1200/1500/1800 ( the men's calories) because of my high starting weight, I guess I'm still considering it but I want to lose as much as possible and I'd like to be able to sustain a 1500 calorie diet in the long term.

Today is going to be a 600 calorie day. I don't have the book and I have no intention of following the menus as I feel its important to learn how to eat things that I like in smaller portions. I've failed a lot of diets by following menu plans and really just not liking the food. My strategy is to save all 600 calories for the night time. I actually did Fast-5 for a little while ealier this year and found it both easy to only eat in a 5-hour time block and also it increased my energy. It's 2pm and I haven't eaten anything yet because I work from 3pm-8pm. I'll drink water until I get home and I'll have a few mini snacks that add up to 600 calories. Once I've hit my number, I'll get in another 32 ounces of water, grab a book, and lay in bed.

I don't intend to exercise until week 2. Maybe I'll take my dog on longer walks since it's been nice out.

I stepped on my Wii board this morning- 316 lbs. Yikes! There's no way I am putting a wedding dress on this body.

Well, I ended up at 900 calories yesterday. I saved all of my calories for the evening and had a Healthy Choice meal, lots of grapes, some ice cream, and some string cheese. I've decided not to exercise on my 900 days, do light walking on 1200 days, and something a little more vigorous on 1500 calorie days. My BMR is about 2219 right now, so I do not and probably should not exercise on such low-calorie days.

I weighed mysef this morning and I've lost 1lb. I'm kind of disappointed because I usually get a good drop the first day. I'm trying not to panic and drop down to 600 calories because I really think I can get good loss with 900/1200/1500. I only got 20 ounces of water in yesterday so I'll shoot for more water and see what the scale says tomorrow.

Congratulations on your engagement!. I used this diet to lose weight for my daughters wedding. I lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I didn't exercise at all because I've been working close to 60 hours a week. I stand on my feet all day and by the time I get home, I usually just want to cry. But the 30 pound weight loss has made the pain in my feet a little less and has totally helped my blood pressure. My daughters wedding was March 10th and since then I've struggled to keep with this diet. The good thing is that I still consider myself "on it" so I'm not totally going hog wild with the eating. It's just that when you just put in an 11 hour day; you really don't feel like going to the grocery store not to say to prepare some food. The easiest thing is to order pizza or pick up some fast food in a drive through. Three long weeks of crazy overtime and my fridge and cupboards are bare. According to the schedule posted for next week, I should be able to work 40 hours and actually get both of my days off. That should make things easier for me to shop and prepare food. The free veggies really help and so does the safe fruit. I wouldn't worry about only losing one pound. Actually I would get someone to hide the scale so you can only weigh in once a week. Because if your anything like me and you just had 600 calories the day before and the scale didn't budget enough to justify all the grumbling your tummy has been making, the chocolates are sure calling my name. Now when I successfully did this diet 10 years ago, on the 600/900 calorie weeks I used an over the counter appetite suppressant. Seems like it worked for me back then. I have it on my to do list to buy a bottle for next week since I want to try week one all over again.

Thanks :hurray:we're pretty excited to finally be getting married, we've been engaged since last year. Where do you work that you have to work such crazy hours? I used an appetite supressant a few years ago it was called lingzhi. It was amazing a used it to do 24 hours fasts, but I started to have chest pain so I stopped using it. I actually still have a bottle. Along with some hoodia I found on Amazon that does nothing for me. What did you use and would you recommend it? I'm not one for "weighing in" constantly, but I think I'll wait until I've dropped 20lbs before I stop weighing every day. I'm getting a treadmill on Sunday and I know the first thing that will happen is I'll build some muscle and my scale won't tell me why I have either lost or not gained.

I had another 900 calorie day yesterday. Today I stepped on the scale and was pleasantly surprised to see a 2lb loss for a total of 3lbs after the first two days. I don't want to hear about it being water weight, it's weight that is no longer on my body so it counts! I'm holding strong today I went to see my wedding site with my dad and one of my bridesmaids. She and I went to Applebee's and I got a salad with some grilled shrimp on the side for a total of 390 calories (Althought I'm rounding down to 350 because I don't think I ate 160 calories worth of shrimp). While I was there I was thinking that I need a really good app for calculating calories on the go, mostly for restaurants. Anyone know of one (I have a droid)?

Now it's about 4:15 and I have to get ready to go see a play. I might have a 100-cal yogurt or a 10-cal sugar free jello as a snack but I feel pretty good. I'm confident that I will be able to close out my last 900 day without going over. Looking forward to another drop on the scale tomorrow and wishing you all the same.

Welcome MrsD2b. Congratulations on your engagement and those 3 pounds gone. I am sure the 900/1200/1500 rotation will give you plenty of weight loss. I am sure you look beautiful to your future husband just as you are and any results that make you happier and healthier will be very appealing to him. So keep up the good work. I think it's a good idea to choose foods you like.

Don't give up, Keephoping. Life does get in the way of weight management plans sometimes but you are still the boss. I sure you burned bunches of calories working all those hours.

I have been bouncing between 174 and 176 and really want to reach 172 so I am beginning another and hopefully final 1200 up rotation today. Back to yogurt and fruit for breakfast, tuna rice casserole for lunch, and a big orange pepper for snack. Oh I did have a square of (healthy!?) chocolate and a spoonful of maple syrup (while I was fixing some yogurt for my husband and not concentrating!) but should still be able to hit the right calorie target.

Hello aloe. Thanks for the congratulations and the welcome, all are much appreciated. I believe in the idea of eating the foods we love as we diet and "remembering" the foods that we love but have forgotten (I love grapes and they're low in calories, so why don't I ever buy and snack on these healthier snacks?). I also think it's possible for people to learn to love healthier foods, but I've never been successful at building a diet around foods that are unfamiliar to me.

Yesterday I stepped on the scale and I'd lost an additional 2lbs. Today I weighed myself and my scale didn't budge from yesterday! :icon_bs:

That puts me at -5 for the first 4 days. Today is day 5 and I've finally reached a point where I feel bitter about having to restrict my calories. I have to work tomorrow and I'll have 1,200 evening calories, so hopefully the feelings passes. I have 670 calories remaining for tonight and my fiance and I are bbqing right now. Chicken wings and grapes (don't judge) for me.

Also, I got my treadmill today. It's a really nice one and I'm eager to start using it but since it's still outside in the truck, we will have to see how well I do with it later. Have a wonderful week guys, stay motivated!

Trying to start a 600 calorie week. The appetite suppressant I purchased this time is Dexatrim. I honestly don't remember which brand I used 10 years ago. I just know it was over the counter. I get up for work at 3:30 am and have my breakfast at 6:30 am during my first break. By 9 am I was really hungry to I took the Dexatrim then. I just got at 2:15 pm and surprisingly I feel okay. I did have a 110 calorie yogurt at 6:30 and a 220 calorie frozen dinner at 11:00am. Planning on baking some fish with steamed veggies right around 5 pm when the hubby and kids are home. Its this down time being at home alone for a few hours with food within reach that usually gets me. Time to get out of the kitchen/family room and work on a project in another part of the house. If it wasn't sprinkling (I live in Oregon), I might even consider a short walk.

I started out fine but somehow lunch out Tuesday and Wednesday led to overeating the rest of the week. Need to buckle down again. It wasn't so much a matter of hunger as of wanting to eat everything!

Nice to hear from you again, Aloe! How does the saying go... if you don't succeed, try, try again.......

That's how I feel many times on this diet. I had been cheating quite a bit since my daughters wedding and managed to gain 8 pounds of the 33 that I lost back. Then thankfully last week worked pretty well for a 600/900 calories week. I must say that without the Dexatrim, I don't know if I would have been as successful. As of this morning I have lost 6 out of those 8 pounds that I regained. Two more and I will be back to where I was before "I fell off the wagon". I am planning on visiting an elderly aunt on the east coast in August, so that is motivating me. She is one of those lucky people that has been able to gorge her whole life and never gain an ounce (why didn't I inherit her genes instead of my mothers?). I visited her about 2 1/2 years ago and she kept poking my fat and exclaiming how "padded" I was. If I can lose another 20 pounds by August, she'd still have plenty to poke, but maybe she would comment instead on how I've lost some weight. How's MrsD2B doing? Haven't heard from her for a while........

I have lost over 60 lbs on the rotation diet twice. If I have stuck to it. I know I could have lost over 100 and maintained my loss but I stopped dieting and exercising and put back on 30+ lbs so I am back to my modified rotation diet again.

A friend of mine just asked me about this diet, so I did a google search and here I am.

This diet works. I have lost over 30 lbs with it and kept it off over a year. As with any "diet".... you need to maintain it in some form... losing weight is truly a "lifestyle change" not a quick fix. If you go back to eating what you used to eat... you will gain the weight back. The end.

I have found what works is that I still (with few exceptions) eat the same "Rotation diet breakfast" every day... I also still do not eat sugar, or salt my food, and I rarely have salad dressing with any fat. I try whenever possible to keep with salad/veggies and protein with some carbs/whole grains thrown in.

Yes, I have bad (or delicious days) and eat hot wings, beer and fries, but I go right back to healthy the next day!

I did notice... and you will too.... IF you listen to your body. That my stomach truly did shrink and now, I can never eat a full meal at a restaurant.... I'm FULL... and so I take it to go.

Best of luck everyone! Don't give up!!! The rotation diet works!! :)

Not to much activity here lately. I've been holding steady at 176 but bumped up to 178 for the past three days so I'm doing a 1200 calorie day intending to start a four week rotation. I don't know why but I can never be motivated to do a steady 1600 or so diet. I guess I like thinking "just three days of 1200 and then I can eat more". So I had :

yogurt, grapes and high fibre cereal for breakfast,

eggs, rice and beets for lunch,

string cheese and a carrot for snack and

chicken breast, sweet potato and salad for supper.

I appreciate my food much more when the calories are limited!

I also did a half hour of arthritis fighting weight training plus 15 minutes of stretches. I do find these exercises (from Strong Women (and Men) Beat Arthritis plus a few extras) keep me from feeling stiff and old.

Hi All,

I've been searching the internet for some motivation to shed my excess poundage and you all seem to have it going on. I've never done the Rotation Diet before but I think I'll try it, starting today. I've had about 270 calories so far today so I think there's no time like the present. I'm 58 and around165lb and I'd sure be happy if I could lose about 40 lbs. I'm going to the Outer Banks for vacation on September 8 so I think I'll use it for motivation.

Good Morning all,

I seemed to do ok on 600 calories yesterday. I got up this morning and was plesantly suprised to find that I was down to 162.8 lbs this morning when I weighed myself. I sure hope this trend continues. Have a great day everyone!
