Weight-Loss Lose'n it in September

Weight-Loss
Jaraku, welcome. Weighing yourself throughout the day is fine, weigh every day, sure. For this exercise, though, pick one day of the week and have that as your weigh in day. So if you started at 171 on Wednesday, and want to use that as your weigh in day, all the other weights of the week, "don't count." Next Wednesday when you weigh in, that number will count.

Figure it this way. Your weight will go up and down, but fat loss will be more permanent. You will see this over time, so any errors due to water weight will be eliminated over time.

Good luck. Why don't you tell us about yourself a bit? What's your plan, and so on.

ah its been grand been working out at home a lot this week when i get bk from collage cos id be too tired to trundle across the town to the gym.

I hear you there. I haven't been to the gym in about three weeks now. Just been running and such. I'm going to try to make it today, though. Is there a gym at collage that you can use?

Amanda, 130 is very possible for you. School is starting, the lab job is over, and your starting weight is higher then it really is, so you'll get a good bump down this week.

What is your plan for the week workout wise? More importantly, what are you going to do this weekend?

I plan to workout every weekday. I missed Tuesday so I'll probably run or something Saturday morning. I have tons of time to do it now. I almost feel as though I'm on vacation. I went to the gym at the school yesterday and had a great workout. I'm very sore today actually, which is great. I think the scales going to go up before it goes down because of my muscle loss when I wasn't working out. Not sure what my plans for the weekend are yet. My aunt is having a party so I'll probably go to that. Drinking is mandatory. I'll probably drink wine or something. There will be lots of bad food there, but I'm going to try my hardest to stick to the healthier things and have one nice sized portion of food. I just hope I can actually do that. I need to be sure I don't see a 2-4 lb increase on Monday if I want to see 130 OR 127 by the end of the month.

Focus focus focus.

I'm in!

Sep 1: 175.0 (21.9)

I've not been HORRIBLE lately but I've not been nearly as good as I was when I started. It's easy to get sidetracked when you start getting close to your goal. Well, it's easy for me, it seems.

I've resolved to get back on track in September. Without a doubt I will hit 170 this month with only 5ish pounds to go (weight varying from day to day due to bad diet and poor hydration) to reach my original goal.

Amanda, sounds like a good plan. Make sure that you get some good protein on those days that you are lifting, especially right after you workout. NF Yogurt, cheese, beans, even some cereals are really good. This will help you make the gains where you want and the losses where you want.

Brad-Fish, we missed you last month. I'm feeling renewed, if you couldn't tell. Nice new avitar, by the way.

September is all us guys. All of us!

they dont have a collage in the gym unfortunatly:( well im gonna go today so go me:)

Random question, but what is the average cost of a gym membership? I'm a newbie to the whole gym thing (I've always had a rec center or workout center nearby or at school.)

I've got a bit more free time now that i'm more into how things go at school and would like to throw myself back into working out. I did really well with ellipticals and weights and would like to join a gym. I just am curious what kind of expense I'm gonna be looking at.

My gym charges 360 for the year if you pay up front. I think it's not much more if you pay monthly.

Hey folks, A little late in on the challenge, but my official weigh in day is Monday, and I was at 323 (9/1). Mind if I join up?

Gonna shoot for a 10lb drop on the 29th for 313lb total.

Cabbie, late is fine here. Actually, I think if you are joining up any time in the first week, you are on time. Glad you joined us here.

D, is your ticker for the miles you've run this month? You are killing it, if it is.

Yes it is, but sadly I haven't updated it in a while. I think I've only ran 3 miles this month so far... But now that you mention it I will up date it. Last month I ran 15.5 miles and we did a 9.5 mile hike.. which would total 25 miles. This month I want to get some serious running in!!! Starting today!!!

Ok, so the last time I weighed myself was the last time I posted my weight which was in mid August. At that point I was 211.2.

I went out today and bought a scale today. I was SCARED TO DEATH to weigh myself, because I know I haven't exercised or really eaten especially well in the past month. HOWEVER...

I am proud to display the following weight... DRUMROLL PLEASE...

203.4 pounds

According to that weight, which I'm guessing is probably false even though it was midday and its TOM, I have lost a whopping 7.8 pounds in under a month.

Ladies and gentleman, that is what stress will do to you! I know if I don't get back into the workout groove though that I will gain it all back once things settle down again.

But, I'm temporarily really excited and proud of myself.

That would mean only 3.5 pounds to ONE-DERLAND!! And that would be absolutely amazing.

Jumped on the scale today seriously dreading what the scale might say. I had lots of food yesterday so I was nervous I'd see 140.X

Sept 1: 139.0 (Super high from the bad eats.)
Sept 8: 138.4 (-0.6)
Sept 15:
Sept 22:
Sept 29:
Sept 30:

My weight has gone up this week because I have had to rebuild my muscle with the free weights. I know I dont have that much muscle to build to get back to where I was so I'm assuming the scale should be moving down steadily very soon.

Jess. if you remember, when you switched to that scale, it was reading higher then the one you were using before. Now you are back down. I think that this scale is probably accurate.

This being said, I think you did great. :sifone:
