Lisa's Journey

I can't believe that it's been 10 days since I wrote into my diary...

Well, one reason could be that my eating habits are slacking quite a bit:eek: . I seem to always have some sort of junk food during the day - junk food for me is mostly chocolate and cake. I just can't help it:confused: ...that stuff is everywhere and when it's not there, then I go looking for it:eek: . It would be too hard to try and write down what I had on those 10 days, I can't remember half the time. I do remember that it was way too much dessert items:( :(

I will start over with today and then update the weekend hopefully on Monday.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with Jam (forgot the bacon in the oven:rolleyes:)
Snack: small sandwich with meat and cheese and a nectarine
Snack: one piece of chocolate
Lunch: Leftover Spaghetti and Meatsauce
Dessert: 4 pieces of chocolate
Snack: 2 pieces of chocolate and six prune plums

this does not look good - there is way to much chocolate on that list.

Beverages: glass of peach juice and water, one mug of caf-lib and about 6 glasses of water

Exercise: twice around the field with the dogs.

Yesterday I did more. I did some Tai Chi with my husband, about 20min, then 7 minutes on the Nordic Track (I know it's not much, but it's a start and better than nothing) and then a few exercises with his dumbbells - I don't know the names:eek: . All in all I did about 40 minutes (in addition to walking the dogs in the morning). So if I can do this more often, maybe 3 times a week, that would be helpful.

Because my eating is slacking the way it is, I don't weigh myself...I know this might not be the right approach, but I don't want the added stress, of having to monitor my weight. Bad enough that I can't control my diet:eek:

Hiya Lisa

I think your doing just great for yourself dont sweat eating chocolate too much, if you do the work and watch the other areas of your diet maybe you can fit that in there. I noticed on the weight loss weekly chart your at your target..very awesome job, so if you can maintain that weight keeping working out and I bet you could totally fit some rewards in there for yourself. If you workout and watch the other stuff than you can have you cake and eat it too!!! good luck to ya and keep up the good work!

hi fitski, thank you for the nice post - it helps to get some input. Maybe you are right and I shouldn't dwell on it. It's a phase and I will get through it I'm sure. There's also not much chocolate left in the office - pheew.

As for my eating on the weekend...
I did pretty well - I guess....just one slip...

Let's see if I can still get it together...

Saturday:
Breakfast: Cereal with Raspberries + Turkey Bacon
Lunch: Donair Wrap & 3/4 of a Dairy Queen Blizzard (I must say that I didn't find it that good - too much stuff in the icecream....if I ever have that again I'll ask them to put in a quarter of the actual amount)
Dinner: bean burrito

Beverages: 2 mugs hot chocolate, water, tea - not enough

Exercise: twice around the field with the dogs

Sunday:
Breakfast: Cereal with Raspberries + Turkey Bacon
Lunch: Tortellini with Meatsauce
Dinner: Greek Salad wit 1/4 bun

Beverages: one mug hot chocolate, water, tea - not enough

Exercise: 3 times around the field

Snack: Zone Bar

Tuesday cont:

For Dinner we had frozen Pizza, but I modified it with more chicken, peppers and cheese and with it we had some greek salad (left-over from Sunday). All in all I realized that I ate much more food than usual - it was really good - because normally we have just the frozen Pizza and no extra toppings and no salad. I skipped dessert, but it was still too much. I have to pay better attention to my portions again:(

I also think that I had some chocolate for dessert, after lucnh, but I honestly can't remember how much, or if it was today or yesterday.

Wednesday

Breakfast: Oatmeal with Peach/Pear Sauce (self-made - not by me - yummy)
Snack: 1 piece of cake and 1/2 a Carb Crunch Bar
Lunch: Sandwich and Peach
Snack: Turkey Bacon, Cheese, Peanuts, Pear
Dinner: Goulash Soup
Snack: few pieces of cantaloupe and some chocolate

Only made it three times around the field in the Morning for exercise...it was pouring rain at night and I wasn't in the mood to get wet.

Beverages: Water and Tea plus the mug of hot chocolate in the morning

Thursday:

Breakfast: Glass of Silk - Vanilla, mug of hot chocolate, Oatmeal with the same sauce as yesterday - I have lots of it and it is really really good.
Snack: Zone Bar
Lunch: two sandwiches:eek: and an orange
Snack: Yoghurt
Dinner: don't know yet - I might get a barbequed chicken.

Exercise: three times around the field this morning...I am planning to exercise a little tonight - hopefully it works out. :p

Beverages: hot chocolate at home and another one at work, other than that only water.

Heya Lisa

very awesome progress, and to give up coffee thats very good!! I bet your smile is already alot brighter! I seen your post about chocolate in the office, haha what is it with offices and chocolate, haha my god huh?? in ours, the girls filled a filing cabinet drawer full of candy from costco, we even get chocolate bars for submitting our time sheets, haha they have to ban candy and chocolate from all offices, life would be so much easier then!

HI fitski,

I must say...your office is even worse than ours, even though before the cocolate was gone, the next cookie box was delivered. Thankfully it had the nutritional information on the box, and after reading I was able to resist:D:D

You are right - I am very happy that I finally don't have to drink coffee just so I won't get a headache - now I don't want to drink it anymore...a little bit also out of fear to become addicted again. But I don't miss it and that's really great.

Heya Lisa

Good job increasing your dog walking!! i'm sure they really like as well!! keep up the great work and a big time thanks for your motivation!

thanks for the nice post fitski - it really helps:):):) even though I currently seem to be in a slump:(

I have quite a bit of catching up to do...and I can't even remember half the stuff I ate....All I know is that it was too much sweets...In between regular meals and snacks I managed to munch down a 200gr and half of a 100gr bar of chocolate, approximately 20-30 cookies, if not more, and 2-4 muffins, oh and just a few minutes ago two packages of sesame snaps...this has to stop:mad: . I am not eating less for regular meals and snacks, so all these extra bad calories are hurting me doubled....don't know why I can't just leave it:(:(:(
Another problem with this is, that I eat most of it (95%) at work, so I can't just go do something else if I feel like eating junk.

Does anybody have any ideas????? I am open for suggestions:)

Exercise this week also left much to be desired. I walked the dogs, but not always as much as I wanted....I wanted to be up at six times around the field per day and today it was once, so far....

Hi Lisa

Well you do need some snacks, maybe you can just make healthier choices, there's lots of stuff out there you could be snacking on other than cookies and chocolate bars, bring a container of chopped up veggies and eat those. Also eating a salad will fill you up more at lunch and drink lots of water and avoid those snack trays in your break room!! And yeah more dog walking, your dogs will thank you too! Your doing good Lisa, dont get all down on yourself!! :)

Hi Lisa,

Half the fun of losing weight is being able to fit into new smaller pants. If you find yourself snacking all the time at work, put an empty jar on your desk, and everytime you feel yourself wanting to eat a cookie or a muffin and you resist, put a dollar in the jar. Then, after a while, when you are able to cut the cravings and you've lost weight, count how much is in your jar and treat yourself to a new pair of pants! The jar on the table will remind you or your goals, especially if you put up a picture of a pair of pants that you want really badly- imagine yourself wearing them! Hope this helps! :)

cutie thats a great idea! i might just use that for myself ;-) haha.... yea but lisa don't get discouraged i know EXACTLY how you feel... can you eliminate the sweets at work? is it your own personal stash? because definately if its not available to you you probably wont be as tempted and likely to eat it... and like fitski said... get some healthy snacks... rice cakes i think are a good snack because they are kind of sweet and not bad for you.... tomorrow's a new day... time for a new start... u can do it!

thank you all so much for your support - it really helps and cutiepie that jar is a really good idea - thanks. Fitski...the healthy snacks are a good idea as well, I actually bought a bag of carrots at the store, after I read your post:)
I haven't been able to actually write for the last few days, but I can report that I'm doing a little better in the candy department. I got rid of the last of my cookies (I ate them:eek: ) and now I don't have any chocolate or cake or anything at work...our boss brought some peanuts to work the other day...but they are not that bad...at least it's protein and the good fat and luckily they are gone:).

The rest of my diet looks pretty much the same and I tried to sit and figure out, where I spend my time. I have to admit that I watch TV - I have a few series that I really like, but most of the time I don't sit down before 8.30 - 9.00PM and then I go to bed 1/2 hour later...i know those are just excuses, because if it were really really important to me, I would find the time...

I will start writing down what I eat again. And make sure that I don't forget to mention the little things in between.

ok - so here goes my eating plan for today

Breakfast: Cereal with 1/4 peach and 8 grapes
Snack: Zone Bar
Lunch: Sandwich with Salami and Cheese, 2 carrots (big ones)
Snack: Yoghurt with grapes
Dinner: turkey/chicken sausages and veggies

Beverages: one mug of hot chocolate light and lots of water

Exercise: only twice around the field today....the Puppy wasn't listening and put up a fight...
