Lisa's Journey

Currently I use either apple, pears & grapes or blueberries (frozen from last year) Strawberries are just arriving in the stores, so I think I will switch to them within the next few weeks. I am not a Cantaloupe fan. It's very hard to find one that actually tastes good - I must be doing something wrong when picking them out. Anyhow, my husband doesn't like them at all, so I try to get fruit we both like to eat.

I think the cantaloupe problem is that they are rarely ripened on the plant and naturally. Certainly the ones I get are pretty well tasteless! However, since I amalgamate them with various dried fruits, I don't notice the lack of taste that much :D

The problem with Grapes is the high sugar content.....sheesh, one can't win, there is always something......

Actually my downfall is salt. I have salt cravings all the time and that's a real pain.....

Attached a pix of my big dog .....

this sounds excellent. What a great forum this is and how nice to have so many eager and cheery, supportive people.

I passed the bun test today - had a massive slab of meat on a bun, but just ate the filling - no bun (was a big crunchy italian bun too - sigh)

Weezy:cool:

Weezy - that is great!...Not sure if I would be strong enough to leave the bun, especially crunchy italian (yummi). The few times I went to a fast food joint (i just love A&W) for a while I left part of the bun (never the whole) and lately I always ate the whole thing, thankfully I don't go too often...

now I totally missed my comments for Lisa:eek:

Lisa you are doing wonderful...three thumbs up. You even started moving - great. If you forget exercising, why don't you make a nice sheet of paper with a reminder and hang it up? If you don't want to have it in the middle of the living room, put it in the bathroom - you probably go in there once during the evening (I always visit as soon as I get home:D)...

seems like I only get around to posting once a week:eek: :(

Thank you all for your posts and your support - I do read them just no time to answer...

I am actually doing better, now that it is nicer outside I'm actually spending time outside which automatically means moving - can't really call it exercise, but small steps...right:)

Every little bit helps....

Getting into an exercise routine is REALLY hard, so if you're getting outside and moving more then that's a good start. Walking is also a good thing to do...it's not really like exercise......

Keep up the efforts!

HI |Weezy,

Wow Lisa, can I relate to that! I really hate doing anything outside when the weather is cold and drab (like today)

I forced myself to bundle up and take the dog out after shopping and met a couple of fellow dog owners ....it was much easier to put up with the cold and damp while joking about with them.

Lucky you being able to ride a bike! I'm so dislexic that I fall over instantly I try to ride

Have a nice evening!

didn't work out with the bike-ride:( I totally forgot about it even though it was a beautiful weekend.
Eating over the weekend was pretty good, except the lunch at A&W...I will just count this as my cheating day...and for a cheating day I did pretty well.

I didn't exercise per say, but I spent time outside, playing fetch with the dog...and doing some yard work.

Today:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with Protein Powder and Honey; coffee with milk and sugar
Snack: crackers with meat and cheese
Lunch: Sandwich with smoked Turkey Breast, Cheese and cucumber

Beverages: coffee with milk and sugar (regular & decaff) total of 4 mugs, water

Exercise: none so far

wow...it's been almost two weeks since I wrote in here...time's flying right now. My eating is ok - I guess..nothing much unusual...no birthdays or other celebration sins to confess...still no progress on the exercise front, but just as I made the plan to go for a walk after work...I look outside and it is pouring:(:(:(

I'll try to keep my diary up to date from now on - again...

The weekend was pretty good and budy - no time to think about food. It was pretty nice outside, so normally I would crave ice cream, but not this time.
And I started a resistance training program...I do about 40 minutes a day...20 in the morning and 2 x 10 at night. We adopted a six month old 'Puppy', current weight 60lbs and when I take him out I get my restistance workout. He has not been trained to heel or walk nicely on a leash, so he is jumping all over the place and pulling like crazy when he sees something interesting. When we get back to the house it takes the last strength I have to get him back inside...I am exhausted, but I love the sore muscles. Well, I never managed to start an exercise program, now I have one.

Now I will try to start following my own advice to write down everything I eat again...

Breakfast:
Shake (Slimfast, Soy Protein Powder, Strawberries, 1% Milk)
2 Mugs of Coffee with milk and sugar
Work: 2 Mugs of Coffee with milk and sugar
Snack: Zone Bar
Lunch: yoghurt with strawberries and some almond slivers & cheerios and Turkey Bacon
Snack: Lunch Meat, Cheese (1 slice each), 3 peanuts (in shell) and one apple
Dinner: don't know yet

Exercise: 20 minutes this morning with the Pup:D

Way to go Lisa!

Er, Lisa, what about water??????

The foodlist looks pretty excellent, but with all that coffee, you really have to increase your water intake ...;)
Exercise: 20 minutes this morning with the Pup:D

Well, he'll certainly keep your metabolism up .......aren't they fun?:) I attached a pix of my big goofy dog with me attached ...

HI Weezy,

he looks like a cutie too. Ours is so funny and he already adopted part of the couch as his favorite spot.

I don't have any pictures yet, but when I do, I'll try to upload one as well - never done that before.

As for my food yesterday...I managed to drink about 1.5 l of water while still at work.

When I got home I had a mug of 1% milk, then I went for my "pull-walk" and raked up some grass, went for another short walk acround the field and had Special K with Strawberries and Triple Berry Soy Beverage for dinner. I know not really dinner food but so, so yummy. I drank two mugs of tea and that was it.

Now for today...

Breakfast:
Strawberries with SlimFast, Protein Powder and 1% milk - this time I used less milk, which made it thick and creamy - oh so good:)
two mugs of coffee with milk & sugar
At work another two mugs of decaff coffee (milk&sugar - a must)
Snack: Zone Bar
Water 1 l so far
Lunch: Again Strawberries (can you tell I bought a flat) with Yoghurt, Almonds and Cheerios

Rest of the day - don't know yet

Exercise: This morning only 15 minutes, but cross-walking through the field - Pooch didn't want to go around:D

rest of yesterday

Snack: Chocolate Fudge Protein Bar
Dinner: Chicken Wrap
Dessert: Apple Blue Berrie Crisp and a piece of Chocolate

Beverages: the coffee in the morning plus Tea and Water
