Lift, Train, Fitness

took the sled out for a proper workout this morning, wrangling it in and out of the car worked out ok after I got the technique right. I used the harness at the local sports field next to the playground. The weight of the sled plus my daughters weight and the extra drag for the grass gave me one hell of a workout in a very short period of time, my hamstrings and glutes are seriously feeling the results this arvo, not to mention the huffing and puffing from the cardio aspect. I am going to have to find my HR monitor to estimate the calorie burn for a 15 minute intense strength session with large anaerobic and aerobic components.

It sure sounds like a great cardio workout!

I am not feeling any ill effects from the sled training yesterday, I understand from doing a lot of reading that this type of training does not stress the CNS very much and is good for promoting recovery despite it being an intense workout, It is also gentle on old joints lol

My cardio fitness is terrible so being able to include cardio which will not have an adverse effect on building muscle is good.

Sled training went well at the football tonight, lots of groans and complaints before training on seeing the sled, split off 6 players at a time to do 10m max effort sprints, the guys became quite competitive with each other and enjoyed the training. By starting with the short distance and only a few repetitions it got them into it without too much strain and sets a base to build up from. only 2 players struggled, I need to come up with a way for one player to do the exercise as the sled is too heavy for him to achieve the expected outcome (improved sprint speed)

Ticked off another assessment today, got permission from the indigenous elders to visit and take photographs at their sacred site for photography assignment. Selected subjects for next semester. Human physiology, and Biomechanics.

I have mixed thoughts about the sacred site I visited yesterday, there are a lot of different stories about the site (Gympie Pyramid) some of which are really out there like the Egyptian theory. There was definitely artifacts related to long term indigenous habitation, but the pyramid and the fallen standing stones just don't seem to fit. The elders at the site have no idea how their ancestors cut the stone for the terraced pyramid or the standing stones. I have got some interesting photographs in particular the face of an ape and the face of a human in one rock, I cannot tell if they were carved or natural formations with the weathering.

Today's tutorial at Uni was all about fine tuning our coaching for diverse body types in squat, deadlift and bench press, so easy stuff for me, I provided the perfect example of ideal body proportions for the lifts and there was another girl who has such long femurs that she could not do a normal squat but could if it was a goblet squat to bring her weight forward, with heels elevated and only going as far as 3/4 depth.

Tonight the rally cars will be in town before the event on the weekend, so will head into town later for more photo opportunities.

That kind of knowledge would be easily lost without written language, especially if it happened thousands of years in the past.

Isn't it fascinating how different bodies are? How weird that people pretend that a couple of standard exercises, done in a standard way, could be enough for everyone?

it is so common with these three lifts to see people insisting on one single way to do the lifts without taking the individual into account. While I have perfect proportions of a back squat, a front squat is a poor choice because it changes my centre of balance in a negative way pulling me forward into a compromised technique, I can do them with minimal load but it would just not be safe for me to fully load a front squat.

today had been a good day up until I just shredded a fan belt on my car :(

trip into town to source a new belt tomorrow.

That's the first time in ages I have heard of a fan belt being shredded. It used to happen a lot. Hope you do get it fixed fast, Tru. Do you fix things like that yourself? It wouldn't surprise me if you did.

need to get a manual for the car to see which way it goes on, hopefully Autobarn has the right size in stock, genuine belts are sooo expensive.

car is fixed, tomorrow morning I need to get more pics for assignment and son 3 will be serving Bunnings sausages as it is his martial arts clubs turn to do fundraising.

Went into town with D as my car battery was flat, I should have taken it for a long drive after fixing the belt as the busted belt powered a lot of car functions including the alternator.

Walked a bit around town (lots of stairs) and got a mix of photographs for my assignment. Done some mobility exercises for my shoulders after getting home along with a push-up training session in prep for next months push-up challenge raising money for mental health.

Still having problems with the car

I have coaching at the AFL tonight an my last photography lecture for Uni today. I got my marks back for the last assignment (72.5 %) Hopefully tomorrow I will get the journal written up for the final assignment and submitted (1 week early) so I can concentrate on study for the final exercise prescription and programming exam next week.

I have calculated I only need a mark of 15% on the final assignment to pass photography so that is a big stress reliever because street and urban photography has been a challenge.

These are 2 of the photos from assignment 2 (Light)
