Lift, Train, Fitness

I find fire terrifying. I'm buying G some firefighting equipment for Xmas. He has burnt out most of the undergrowth in the bush not far from our house & it should be a lot safer.

it has been a lazy day so far, I have spent most of the day mixing up bubble mixture for giant bubbles and helping little miss blow lots of bubbles lol while hubby can barely move from the couch after being on the fire ground from 6 am to 8 pm yesterday.

exercise has been no existent, but food has been as normal. It it way to hot to do anything outside, even little misses play area (part of our verandah enclosed with shade cloth to be snake and goanna proof is getting too hot.

forgot to mention, I have spent time researching more exercises that meet specific fitness/sports goals, something I do when I have a bit of down time.

On todays menu was Romanian Rhythm Squats, for developing vertical jump height and improving sprint performance. certainly not an exercise I would include in my training but certainly a viable exercise for specific sports needs.

:D Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys doing that! Although of course in my victims' case the goals tend to be less ambitious.

My internet has been down since yesterday is not likely to be back until Wednesday morning at the earliest, I will still check in when I can by standing out in a paddock with my phone.

I am partially back online, my ISP went down for days and are still having problems, my satellite connection is shit and very slow.

yep despite being within a 40 minute drive of a reasonably sized regional town we are considered remote and only able to get satellite internet, the NBN stops 2 km before our place and starts again 5 km away on the other side. Optic fibre runs underneath our driveway. Mobile phone reception is almost non existent, those in truly remote areas have better internet and phone than we do.

it looks like it will be another hot day again today, got to get into my training in the shed and get it done quick before it gets to the high 30s / low 40s today.

We have satellite tv & no NBN either & like you, are within 40km of a reasonably sized regional town (city). It's crazy really. We do get mobile phone reception though luckily as we look across at the mountains which have phone towers. It's cold here this morning & very windy! I think it was about 4oC overnight & snow is expected above 800m.

Optic fiber runs underneath your driveway yet you can't get a connection? That's just rude. My parents place is considered remote-for-us as well but for any connection it was always clear that if you were willing to pay for the cable-laying yourself (be it a couple hundred meters or 10k) you could get whatever you wanted.

the cable under the driveway is for the exclusive use of those on K'gari it gives me the shits having it so close yet not having access.

I do think that the satellite TV is better than what people in town have, the adverts aimed at the remote Aboriginal communities can be very entertaining lol.

It has been too hot to do anything outside today, I am a bit out of practice with my camera and need to get out and start getting back in practice ready for uni next semester. I should have the results for this semester tomorrow.

I choose untargeted ads wherever I can and it can be hilarious to see how blatant the manipulation gets. Only downside is that during election times I tend to get a lot of gross far-right ads - apparently they're the only politicians who enjoy bleating into the void.

There is a program here called "Gruen" which pulls apart current ads identifying the selling techniques used and often making fun of very poorly executed ads. one segment of the show they give 2 add agencies a completely unrealistic brief to sell the unsellable which is fun to watch.

Got my results for the semester

:party:I passed anatomy:party: and added another distinction to my list with Sports Psychology.

After talking to past students, not one had passed this anatomy unit first try, and I was seriously concerned after the first 2 exams combined with the warnings at the start of the year by the lecturer that the subject has a very high fail rate. It is the first subject I have has less than a distinction in but it doesn't matter, it is a PASS :)

It was a huge difference to the other anatomy stuff I had done for my other fitness quals and much of it I may not need, most of the students were medical or paramedical in my tutorial group, I am glad now I took the gamble and chose the harder of the 2 anatomy subjects I could have done for the diploma so I don't now need to do it for the degree, and will finish the diploma next semester, finishing the degree will take longer because time drags when you are studying part-time.

Oh, well done, Tru!!!
