Lei's Big Huge Log

well the question would be what benefit? In your sport (if you have one, what would that be) why not do both?

Was looking for more endurance and strength for my runs, so my quads don't get tired as fast.

I will try doing both, but last time i tried OH squats i lost my balance...lol

Just want to get the best benefit with the least amount of weights. Not a particular goal.

:(

Phate!!! The joy is in the lift. The essence of the added personal value is in the 'practice.' The muscle will grow. But lifting and everythin else in life is much more dissapointing, if results are the "only" objective. If you don't like lifting, and all you care about is big muscles- why not juice?

This is a great log lei, i hadn't been here in a while. we must be on different schedules or something. sorry man. typically i hit new posts since lst visit, click on a few and move on.

yer still 'da'machine' eh!! great work!

hey- i just realized as I was walking away- OH is for "over head?"

huh!! very nice! When I clean and jerk, I get sore abs sometimes. OH squats has got to be great for core development. hmmmmmm

I personally hate squatting, thats just me though.

well front squats are very quad dominant. I'd say do front squats and if you want the challenge try to learn overhead squats. They are a fun movement to do.

Yeah, OH squats won't replace heavy squatting. I do them because I think it's cool I can do them now.

Concentric squatting SUCKS. But it's good for you :). I personally like concentric back squats more than front squats simply because of the way the bar tends to choke me when putting it back to the bottom position.

I've dropped a lot of my carbs and I'm down a few pounds. Nothing for sure, because the digital scale is only available when the day is almost over. My scale at home is...I don't know what you'd call it...analog? It's hard to read and pretty inaccurate.

I've been thinking about my game a lot and how to improve it. No weightlifting yesterday because I was busy at school.

I hope you just want to lose water weight or something to get into a weight class? Cuz you don't need to cut any fat..

I agree. But this diet thing is new to me and I'd rather loose some mass and fat with the diet than not make it at all. I wasn't sure I could make it but now i'm 100% certain. This morning I weighed myself (on the inaccurate analog :)) at 160. Holy ****. I'm a week out from comp.

Oh yeah, I'm looking pretty small and weak. I cut out almost all of my carbs. As a result, I have a hard time finding food and my calories have been dangerously low.

My senses have been sharpened, though. When I drive by the strip of temptation (a blocked packed with restaurants and fast food), I notice a distinct difference in how god damn good it all smells.

I'm heading to the competition on Friday. I currently wake up at 160 if I haven't eaten or had anything to drink for >ten hours. I don't know for sure though, because my scale sucks. I have been training my technique as much as possible. When I am not training it, I am thinking about it.

Just got back from the tournament. I got there on Friday and weighed in at 157.8. Then hit the buffet and fought on Saturday (I was expecting to have to weigh in Saturday). Here's how it went down:

No-gi division

Won the first round (kimura)

Lost the second (arm bar)

Gi division

Lost first round on points (11-0)

This was my first tournament. I expect my new experience to propel my training to new levels.
