Julieann's Diary

Is depo bc?..Im sorry..I have been on bc once in my life and that lasted a week because it made me so sick to my stomach....plus I sucked at remembering to take them...So you havnt had a period in over 6 years??....Do you still get mood swings??
If you can drink v8 that is WONDERFUL..because I sure cant..lol...maybe one day I will.....easy way to get veggies in..never thought about that....
And the majority of produce suxs...unless you want to pay a really high price for it.....in that case it is almost better to buy your own tree and hope that it bares fruit....You would think living in California they would have the best oranges.....but noooo....And I have a hard time finding tangerines and necterines or tangelos.......which I love so dearly.......
Yes...almost all vegetables are zero points......but if your going to eat 3 cups of them at one sitting.....you need to factor in a least half a point because they DO have calories......Also I add smart balance to spinach. greenbeans...and that is 1 point for 1 tbs...so I use maybe 1 tsp and give myself a half point for it.......In one of the small weight watchers books there is a little section about being a vegetarian and doing points...
I thought about going walking on sundays.....I really want a bike......I could ask for one for xmas..but I have my eye on a yamaha keyboard at frys......lol

Depo

Kimberly, Yes Depo is BC. It is a shot that you get every 12 weeks. It is pretty convienent. I used to be on the pill but started having problems, lots of bleeding. sorry it made you sick, that sucks. I do not have mood swings, but i never had them even when i had a regular cycle. I really did not feel any different during my period. I actually would even forget i was on it until i went to the bathroom. I guess I was lucky. I had a problem with cysts and endometriosis. Now that I am on depo, i do not have any problems anymore, which is the main reason to be on it for me.

Oh well enough about that. Sorry you can't find good citrus fruit. one of the places i rented in Sacramento had an orange tree and the oranges were great. Oranges grow everywhere in Sac. Theres a bunch of orange trees at the capital. If you like Strawberries, you should go to one of the strawberry stands off the side of country roads. they are the best! they usually are open in the spring and fall.

I used to not like V8 but i tried it a few months ago and really like it a lot. It makes me feel good after i drink it. Probably the sodium, I do not get a lot of sodium in my diet, i don't like salty stuff, and i lose a lot when i exercise.

wow, thats a tough choice between a bike or the keyboard. Maybe you could get a used bike out of the paper or Craigslist.com. That way you can have your cake and eat it too. (metaphorically) :)

KC ~ GET THE BIKE!

I was on Depo for a couple years... I actually started to miss getting my period... Have you gone through that Julieann?
I am on the pill now, missed it on sat and sun... took one mon and missed yeaterday! LMAO
I guess I should look into a different type of BC but actually I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to get pregnant..... but Phils a diff story. LOL

Christina, no i do not miss having a period. nothing to get in the way of #10 :D
I would love to have a baby right now, but i think Jeff would have a coronary with all the stess of his doctoral program. I am already 30 and i feel like if i don't have a baby soon it will never happen. and i want to have children so bad. I've tried to talk my sisters into letting me borrow their kids for a month at a time and rotate :D ( I have 4 neices and 3 nephews) but they won't go for it :( I miss them terribly. I only get to see them a couple times a year now that i live in boston. I think that is the hardest part about being here.

BC can help with endometriosis?....In what way?....I didnt know that.....
I am 33 and I am starting to get a little scared about not having a child yet......I have this feeling I am going to lose a good deal of weight then BAM!!!...I will become a big old prego.....I know I know...I will still have to watch what I eat when I get pregnant.....
When I walk to Curves I pass alot of fruit trees...but they are in peoples yards....I am sooo tempted to snatch one, but I am afraid some little old lady will run out with a broom over her head to bop me one.......
And I relate to the nieces and nephews thing.....I miss them SOOO much...That was the hardest thing about moving here was not seeing the kiddos.......they call me BoBo because the first born could not say Aunt Kimbo...Now EVERYONE calls me BoBo...not just relatives....
And Craigslist....O MY.....I never new such aplace existed until I moved here..lol....

depo is the best form of BC to help w/ endometriosis. It has something to do with estrogen and not having a period. I am not sure exactly. My doctor explained it all to me way back when i was having trouble, but i have a terrible memory and can't remember all that she said. I thought it came back about 3 years ago and had to have a laproscopy (sp?) but it turned out that it was my apendix causing all the pain, i woke up w/out it. the doctor said that if it had been endometriosis, i would have to take something that would make my body act like i was going through menopause so i am glad it was my apendix.

Maybe too much info, but i have read other people on this forum have had trouble w/ woman problems like this and thought this story might help. Christina, i hope read this, i remember reading about you and it just occurred to me that this info might help you to get your dr. to take your health more seriously.

take care everyone,

julie

Thanks for the info Julie.... I have a OB appt Oct 19th. I think I am going to go back on Depo. I am still feeling like the endo is bothering me, and I just went 2 weeks with stomache cramps that were wacky. I thought I was constipated, now I think it was the endo.... I am 27, yeah I have one kid already.... but I always wanted like 4 kids. Phil never wanted any! But when he met me, allyson came with the package. ( I was like 7 m,onths preg)... I am upset that Allyson does not have someone to play with. and I can not always play with her. I have alot to do around here ya know. Hopefully I can get it through Phils head one day.
BoBO ;) ~ Prego's are sexy.... and you will actually be healthier and may even lose weight while youre pregnant. Then when your brest feeding you will shed weight like never b4! Thats another reason why I wouldnt mind getting pregnant RIGHT NOW!
you plucking apples makes me think of the Wizard Of Oz "Have you been picking my apples" said the big mean tree.....

Christina, good luck w/ the dr appt. I hope they help you out a little better this time.
Kimberly, when my sisters and i were kids, we did a lot of fruit robbing. A little lady down the street from my Nana's (my grandma) house had a persimmon tree. we used to grab a whole grocery paper bag full, take them to my Nana's and make persimmon cookies. the little lady caught us one time but said that we were actually helping her because a lot of the fruit would get wasted. We lived in Lodi for a while and were right across the street from grape vinyards and kiwi orchards and we would snag tons of grapes and kiwis. I don't know if you can get away w/it as easily as an adult though. It sure was fun though! :)

well the rest of food for yesterday
there was a fruit tray left over from a meeting at work (there was also a paistry and bagel tray but i left that one alone) so i grabbed some fruit

Julieann, you are doing sooo good!
I couldnt get away with fruit nabbing now, prob fall over while being chased or something! LOL
good for you staying away from that bagel tray!

I remember walking home from school ..and there was this big pecan tree..and all of us kids would lay under the tree eating pecans.....not great on the teeth because that is how we would crack them.....lol.....I use to LOVE climbing trees when I was young!!!

I love how you get your exercise in!!!!.....Whenever I see someone eating fruit I always think how cool they are!!!....I know that is a little on the dumb side...but its true .....When ever we go to a buffet I always like to watch people load up on the fruits and jello compared to the cakes and ice cream...... Iwas always the latter...and now I am a fruit go getter!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement Christina and Kimberly, you girls are the best!
Well, yesterday I had to leave work early for a chiro appt. Unfortunately, we were having a crazy thunderstorm right when i had to leave. Downpouring and very heavy winds. I couldn't wait for the storm to die down like several people suggested when they saw my bike helmet because i would be late for my appt. the rain doesn't bother me but the wind is tough. I was riding on a flat surface, the bridge that goes over the harbor where the wind is always the worst here, and I swear it was all i could do to keep moving forward. Let me tell you, i was quite intimidated with the thought of the two hills i still had to get up on my way home. but the wind did die down a little by the time i got to the hills so i made it. i bet i burned more than 200 cals on the way home, but i didn't have my heart rate monitor on so i don't know.

Well, that was my adventure for yesterday, I have to say it was quite exhilirating (sp?).
here is the rest of my food for yesterday:

Haha you're posting on here while at work, like I do. ;) Glad to see you're letting us know about your plan! I take the bus everywhere, don't have a car, so I know what it's like to battle the elements! You're doing great. I'm glad to see this - it's encouraging!!

Julieann,
You know your hardcore when you ride your bike in a thunderstorm!!!!
I was thinking about asking for a rainjacket for xmas because I LOVE to walk in the rain...( but not a storm).....When I walk in the rain it reminds me from when I lived in Norway.......( I think I read that only 1 in 10 people own a car there.....and gas is 7.00 a gallon!!!!).......We had a car....but I got around mainly on bike/ foot/ or city bus.....and the scenery.....OMG.....you would have LOVED to go hiking there!!!!.....

I bought some Kashi cereal to eat after I finnish off my grape nuts and raisen Bran....
Your fruit intake. is right on..I am sooo happy that i am beaming!!!!!
What is a toubuli??..And WHAT exactly is tofu...and soy for that matter???.....Andreas loves it all!!!!!...He eats EVERYTHING!!!!!......

taboule soy tofu

Kimberly, Tabouli ( i just realized i have been spelling it wrong) is made from Tomatoes, parsley, bulgar and olive oil. 30 cal 1g fat 1g fiber 1g protien per serving. You could probably think of it as mediterranian salsa, not spicy but very flavorful. ( it does not taste like tomatoes, I think i remember you saying you don't like them) The soy crisps are look like those mini rice cakes but taste way better IMO. they are made from soy flower 100 cal 2g fat 2g fiber 7g protien for 25 crisps. (no sat fat). Soy protien is great for your heart and has many other health benefits. Soy is a bean used to make all kinds of stuff, tofu dairy free milk, vegan ice cream fake meat, etc. soy beans AKA edamame. soy beans are also great on salads, if you like kidney beans on your salads, i know you will like soy beans as well (buy it frozen w/out the pod. They do look like lima beans, but taste nothing like them ( i hate lima beans, but love soy beans). On to the tofu, tofu is very plain by itself but takes on the flavors of whaterever you combine w/ it. it is great baked, wonderful fried (but not good for the diet when fried) w/ stir fry. you can also use it in deserts. mock cheescake or mousse, smoothies, the list goes on. I even use it to make vegan "egg" salad You just replace the egg with tofu add some tumeric and whatever you normally put in your egg salad. if you use the lite tofu it only has about 50 cal per serving. I use vegan mayonaise but you can use ff mayo as well, of course then it is not vegan but tastes really well either way.
This is probably more info than you wanted, but i got a little carried away.

Julie

Kimberly, that's great that you got to live in Noraway. funny, i like to walk in the rain too. I really do love the rain. I guess that's another thing i like about here. we have intese thunderstorm where the rain comes down in buckets, it is really cool. I could sit at a window and watch it rain all day (i have to force myself not to do this at work) there is rarely a good storm in CA.

Kashi has some great cereals, my favorite is the Kashi medley. I hope you like it.

October has hit and are we ready? Wow you burn a lot of calories on that Arc trainer -what exactly is it? ummm Grab an apple and you're done with fruit. A medium size apple has 90 calories, but dont' go by me - check with whatever you're using to calculate that. :) Way to go Julie !

V8 does sound good, and I like the taste. Clamato is good, too, by itself. But, it's such high sodium content that I try to avoid it. How are you doing today?

Julieann,
Thanks so much for all the info you give me. And it is all very interesting, and I plan on trying some of it out!!!
AND!!!!......way to go on the fruits and veggies!!!!!!......I am doing the happy dance!!!!
