Julieann's Diary

Hey Julieann,
Sorry to hear you now live in Boston...lol...Thats a major difference from Cali. I have lived here for almost 5 months and its true..it never rains in California!...(okay, it has twice but not enough for a bird to drink) Everday Is beautiful here!
I live in ALhambra..which is like 15 minutes from downtown la...and about 30 minutes from Santa Monica and Long Beach....so we are close to the ocean...The other thing I like is that Alhambra is the " gateway " to the San Gabriel Valley....So we have the mountains for a view too....
My fiance And I were thinking about buying some bikes. Nothing too fancy. Something to do in the evening.
I read that you use to go to 24 hr fitness. We have one here less than a block from Curves.
So when will you be moving back?

I wanted to tell you that I read what you said about your sisters....I have a younger sister who is almost 27...she has 2 kids..ages 6 and 2....and she is beautiful, smart , in great shape, has a nice tan flat tummy......and she is 5'5 and weighs like 155 lbs.. (And looks nothing near to a cow)...also....I have a cousin who 32 is a little shorter..weighs about 110....guess who looks like she is 10 years older and sick looking?....

Kimberly,
It sounds like your in a great place to do some hiking too. I read that a lot of celebs go hiking in the Santa Monica mountains. Hiking is my favorite form of exercise. Biking is fun too, especially if you can find a trail away from the traffic. You can probably find some biking trails on the internet or at a sporting goods store ( I personally like REI). I highly reccomend you get some hiking books for your area as well. The books will tell you how difficult the hike is. You guys could start out with an easy hike and advance depending on how you do. I entered my hiking time and mileage into Ishape.com's exercise log and it said i had burned 2000 something calories. That's a pretty good payoff for a walk in the woods :) I did not even feel like I worked that hard. You don't notice your exercising because you are distracted by the beautiful scenery. I plan to move back to Cali once my bf is done with his doctorate. I am not sure were we will live it depends on where he gets a job. Probably Irvine or Berkley. His specialty is air polution and the colleges in Irvine and Berkley look most promising.

Oh, my sisters are very petite and beautiful. Laura is 4'11 and Valarie is 5'2. I just feel giant when I am next to them. And Valarie makes little comments that make me feel bad about my weight. I don't think she means to though. She does it to everyone, I think she just likes to brag about how tiny she is, I guess it makes her feel better about herself. When I was with them in vegas last week I made a comment to my boyfriend about how fat i feel next to them and he said that Valarie is not skinny because she has quite a tummy, I think he was just trying to make me feel better, her tummy is not that big. but it was sweet of him anyway. It's nice to have a boyfriend who loves you just the way you are. My sisters do eat fairly healthy but they eat a lot more calories than I can if I want to lose or maintain weight. I seriously think something is wrong with my metabolism.

Anyway, I love to read your posts, you have such a great attitude. I can see why your honey loves you. You are doing so good with your exercise, I am very impressed.

well here is an update on my food.

Morning snack balance bar 210

Hiking and Biking sounds AWESOME! Kimberly you should listen to Julie and give it a try !
Julie, aren't bf sweet when they want to be. Loving us for who we are no matter what...
It's not fair that some people get super fast metabolisms, why cant they share with the rest of us! LOL
My brother used to make fun of me being chubby my whole life! Guess who's got quite a gut now! LOL and going bald, he used to tease Phil for loosing his hair!! Karma!!

Well last night, I didn't do too bad at the vegan resturaunt but I could've done better. The meal was buffet style. I had little spoonfuls of several different tofu and vegie dishes and a bowl of watermelon. I stayed away from the fried foods and had brown rice. It was really good. I love going to vegetarian resturants. I can order anything on the menu and not have to worry about any meat products being in what I am eating.
well anyway i know i ate more than the 320 cal i had left for dinner so I will have to say I was bad w/ food yesterday, but onto a new day!

Ugh! I feel like i am coming down with a bad cold. I have been taking zinc lozenges and drinking immune building teas (echinacia w/ goldenseal and Cat's claw) But it doesn't seem to be helping yet. I hope it doesn't get so bad I can't exercise :( That will really mess me up.

I will just keep trying to beat it!

Julie

I hope you start feeling better!....Drink some soup.....get some rest....dont exercise too hard.....
I told Andreas about hiking....he says he hates hiking..party pooper..but likes the bike trail idea.....( But I want to hike!!!)....
Your sisters are short!!!....No wonder they weigh so little....how tall are you?....And the next time your sister makes a comment that hurts your feeling...call her on it!!!...Look at her and reply...." why did you just say that?".....Make her realize what she is saying incase she is not aware.
And remember ..you are,who you are. There is no one like you. Hold your head up high when you stand beside your teeny weeny sisters!....I promise you.....people will notice more about your confidence and not your size!

hiking

Thanks Kimberly, your the best!

You could go for a hike by yourself, Andreas may see you leaving and feel left out and go with you. you never know. My bf loves to hike, he hiked over half of the Appalachian trail from Georgia to Pennsylvania (had to quit because of school) and his brother did the whole thing Georgia to Maine (over two thousand miles). Anyway, if you go by yourself start out easy like maybe 3 miles w/ easy terrain and make sure you bring more water than you think you will drink and a couple of snacks. to save pack weight i reccommend a couple of nutrition bars w/ at least 10g of protien. and have fun! let him know when you are leaving, when you expect to get bac, and where the trail is that you are hiking. It is always best that someone know where you are at and when to expect you back (safety first)

Well if the above doesn't work, I may be living in your area in about a year and i will go with you. I have several hiking books for CA, I will try to find something for you to try and send it to you in a personal email if you like. Sorry I do not have any bike trail books. Like I said, i had a great trail right by my apartment.

Well good luck with your outdoor adventures!

the weekend

Ok, so this weekend my calories were a little high about 1500 on Friday and Saturday and about 1700 calories on Sunday. I have to say about becuase i estimated on things that i did not know the cal value. the worst thing I ate was a few bites of french bread w/ hummus. White carbs bad! they tend to give me the munchies. also one serving of Ben & Jerry's ice cream 220 cal I ate both of these no-no's on Sunday.
I am surprised i did not binge on Saturday. Jeff caught my cold and was very grumpy all day on Sunday. That is usually enough to throw me off the wagon, but I just went in the bedroom and did my school work and did not let him get the best of me. Sunday he was still a little grumpy but not too bad. Men can be such babies when they are sick. it was like he was PMSing but worse than any female i know. Oh well, It's my fault, gave him the cold.
oh yeah I did my regular exercise routines for the weekend plus some pilates and yoga on Sunday.

anyway, today I did 45 min on the Arc Trainer 608 cal
I have already rode my bike to work and came home 400 cal, I had an emergency, I did not realize today was the day that the landlord will be sending someone to exterminate all of the apartments (a precautionary measure, we do not have a problem w/ pests) and I couldn't get a hold of anyone to tell them not to do our apartment. My cats are in the apartment and I have nowhere to take them. So my boss said I could work from home today. Thank God i made it home before they tried to spray im my apartment and get my babies sick. Well I would attach a picture of my kities so you could see but my files are too large and I do not know how to make them smaller.
anyway food so far:

brkfst balance bar 210
16 oz water

snack: burito 250
20 oz water

Well, I better get back to work.

I will post more later

getting back on track

well I lost it after the burrito yesterday. I consumed about 2000 cal. yesterday. I am determined to do better today. so far so good.

exercise
Arc trainer 638 cal. 1.9 miles
lower body strength training

brkfst zone bar 210
snack balance bar 210
lunch WW fetucini alfredo w/ brocoli 290

80 oz. water

I have got to stick to my meal plan, or this will all go out the window. I do not know why I am having trouble, The only thing I can think of is that I haven't been drinking water every two hours. I started back being disciplined today and I am doing much better. Also, my boyfriend is buying too much junk food and it is tempting me. It is really hard to watch him gobble up a bunch of tastey food and not have any.

I will beat this though. I know I can.

Julie

Julie -- At least you are doing really good with the exercising. I admire you for that -- lately I've been having that as problem but doing fine with food. It probably does have something to do with the water. Water really fills me up and I know I eat more when I'm not drinking it. Tomorrow is another day -- don't worry about the mistakes, they were not really that bad and I'm sure your exercise took care of it. Just keep on going... You are doing great!

It's always the men... they all bring in this junk food, and eat it like its gold.... We need to look at the junk food and think POISON! Cause thats what it is to us..... poison....poison......poison....... LOL ;)

Grr men just dont get it sometimes...i usually here well you dont have to eat it...its true too i dont have too but it would be much easier if it wasnt here lol water is awesome, drinking lots of it really does help :) your doing great on the exercise too keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the encouragement you guys, it really helps.

The rest of yesterday
Exercise: I forgot to ad bike ride to and from work 400 cal.

afternoon snack balance bar 210
dinner:
tortilla 70
soy cheese 60
black beans 90

breyers low cal ice cream 80
an additional 20 oz. water

So I did a lot better yesterday

today:
exercise Arc Trainer 630
ride to work 200
will ride home 200

food so far
3/4 C fiber one 100
1C light soymilk 50
16 oz. water

I have been slacking on the strength training. I have been too tired to get up early enough to get it in. I have increased the resistance on my bike and I do have a couple of hills to and from work. but I have to get better at it. I know it makes a big difference.

Again thanks for all of your encouragement.

Julie

Your are so kick A** with your exercising.....I am out of breath after I see all what you do...lol....
Men are the biggest babies in the world when it comes to them getting sick....they think they are dying and it is soo serious....how much they hurt and ache......ummm like we dont have that on a monthly basis....
So your having a hard time with food?.....You are a vegan so I really dont know what all to tell you to eat to help you....of course we have the good old stand by of eating more fiber to fill you up....nothing like a great big salad...maybe with some melba toast?...
Wish I could see your "kids"......you should have some kind of soft ware on your pc that while let you" edit" or "resize" your pics.....Sometimes you have to play around with it to get it to the right size.......oh lord...now THAT sounded funny..lol
