Agree with Cate up there. Exercise is good for a ton of things but weightloss is mostly diet, not exercise. Still: feeling strong and energetic is amazing!

Hunger kept me awake all night on Tuesday. Then my diet got off track yesterday and today. Something's gotta give! I reduced my calorie counting app's weight loss goal to 0.5 pounds a week and now i can have 1750 cals! I'll give it a try!

Today i was only a bit hungry in the morning. It might have been easier today because i ate indulgently the past two days. Or it might be because of my new limit of 1750 cals. Or it might be because i got more fats today. Fats are good for satiety. I'll keep it up for a few days and see. Also, i had my protein drinks with my meals for convenience. I'll add a stick of delicious cheese to my breakfast tomorrow as that has 7g of fat and see if that helps my morning hunger. At any rate, the easing of my hunger was a welcome relief!

It's Day 15 and i have completed two weeks so i weighed-in. I was disappointed but not really surprised to have gained 0.2 pounds so my total loss is only 0.8 pounds. But since my new goal is only 0.5 pounds per week that's not far off. My scale only weighs in fifths, not tenths, so that's a bummer. I guess i'll hope to lose 0.4 some weeks and 0.6 some weeks to average 0.5.

breakfast: flour tortilla, raspberries, yogurt, protein drink
snack: green grapes
lunch: cheese ravioli, savory green peas with olive oil, protein drink
snack: none because i was still full from lunch
dinner: Chicken Kiev, oriental rice, savory mixed veggies with olive oil
misc: 2 diet cokes, 1.5L water

total: 1677

Day 16 -- I've now lasted longer than five of my six diets last year!

Today went well! I couldn't stomach my cheese for breakfast so when i got hungry i just had lunch early and then had an easy afternoon of it til dinner time. I'm feeling good about my diet! I've accepted that my weight loss will go at a snail's pace this time. There have been so many non-weight-related improvements to my health and lifestyle i am still pleased.

breakfast: flour tortilla, raspberries, yogurt, protein drink
lunch: mac + cheese, savory green peas with olive oil, green grapes, protein drink
snack: Clementine
dinner: quiche, savory mixed veggies with olive oil, oriental rice
misc: 2L water, 2 Coke Zero

total: 1652

Hugs,

Jane.

Two Weeks + Three Days

My sleep schedule goes all to Hell in the Spring, so that throws off the timing of my meals. I had dinner absurdly early but i was hungry. I added fats to my breakfast and lasted to lunch with ease. Thanks for the support Cate. Yes, this is more a lifestyle change than a diet. Perhaps once i've adjusted i can try restricting more seriously again. For now, this is the best it can be.

breakfast: waffle with butter, raspberries, yogurt, protein drink
lunch: quiche, savory green peas with olive oil, green grapes, protein drink
snacks: Clementine, stick of cheese
dinner: beer-batter fish, savory mixed veggies with olive oil, wild rice
misc: 2 Coke Zero, 2L water

total: 1692 cals

Hugs,

Jane.

I forgot to write, i also got my dog over to the river path for the first time this year. I just sat on a bench but at least i made it there. I'm still in my parka and it's April 1st!

exercise: 30 minutes walking

Hello Jane! Thought I'd stop by after you left such a wonderful welcome on my own diary. Thankfully, you're not too far along that I had trouble catching up, and I think you're doing a great job! I think upping your calorie intake was a good choice. I've always been of the opinion that small choices are what lead to big results, and while 1500 calories is something to aim for down the road, it might not be the best starting off. All that side, you really are off to a good start!

P.S. Your dog is adorable!

2 Weeks + 4 Days

I got some much needed variety in my diet today. I had lunch at Subway. I ordered a kids meal. I didn't need to be so restrictive; i got home and checked the specs and a 6" sub is still quite reasonable. However, it worked out because i was so miserable from my dreary shopping trip that i had a single-serving bag of cheesies to cheer up, 210 cals. For most of my life i've been a real junk-food-junkie. I ate it slowly and mindfully and really tried to enjoy it, as per my doctor's instructions with treats. I fell immeasurably better after! Mission accomplished!

Glad you like my dog, Cate. She's a girl. Thanks for the support!

breakfast: waffle with butter, raspberries, yogurt, protein drink
lunch: kids meal at Subway, protein drink
snack: cheesies
dinner: Shepherd's Pie, salad
misc: Coke Zero, 1.6L water

total: 1539

I think you and I were on the same wavelength today. I had Subway for lunch as well. It really is a great alternative to traditional fast food, especially since you can really pile on the veggies and all that extra good stuff without adding too many extra calories. And it's actually quite filling, so that's a nice bonus.

Great job today!

I like subway because any sandwich can be made into a salad. The sandwiches i bring home and rebuild on a low carb wrap. Depending on which wrap i have on hand, it's about 90- 120 calories.

My therapist has suggested that I should get a dog. I have always had large outside dogs but I'm thinking something small that can stay in the house. Thinking one that doesn't need a hair cut often so a short haired something or other. I only cut my hair every 5 months or so and the dog on the same scheduld would probably look like a mop by then.

Remember: anything you can accidentally step on when it´s standing up isn´t a dog :p Then again rats make good pets as well...

Just read through your diary. Looks like you are definitely making some positive changes, even if your progress hasn't been immediate!

2 Weeks + 5 Days

Thanks for the support everyone! My hunger is definitely easing. I was only pleasantly hungry before lunch and dinner. Such a relief! I guess i just had to adjust. I made it over to the river again with my dog. This time we made it to the second bench!

breakfast: waffle with butter, grapes, yogurt, protein drink

lunch: quiche, salad with olive oil, Clementine, protein drink

dinner: mac + cheese, salad with olive oil, apple

misc: Wild Berry Zinger herbal tea, 1.5L water, 2 Coke Zero

total: 1374

exercise: 40 minutes walking

Hugs,

Jane.

It does take a while for your hunger to subside & it makes it easier when you are not constantly wanting food. Well done on the longer walk :)
