just to let you guys and gals know im 191 but i sorta went of the healthy thing and going on vacation for 3 weeks to my uncles in san antonio and had to eat some not so healthy stuff down there.

nate

Nate, that's great you've lost! :hurray:

Now just get back to eating healthy and don't worry about the 3 wks - at least you held off gaining.

It really doesn't work like that.

A caloric deficit is a caloric deficit. You could be eating all carbs or all fat for all I care. If you are in a caloric deficit, your body is going to oxidize fat.

...

Homie say wha?

See above. A deficit is a deficit. If you are creating a negatige-energy-atmosphere.... how on earth does your body maintain it's energy reserves?

the man knows what he's talking about, you'd be better off to listen to him than to listen to people who *think* they know what they're talking about. but you should also do the research yourself. don't go to diet web pages, they're only trying to sell you something. go to health pages like webmd or american public health association (apha), and don't be satisfied on one article about something, read tons of articles on something before you decide what you want.

and to throw in my own bit of help on the matter, corn syrup is a major weight gainer. if corn syrup is one of the top five ingredients listed in a product, you're probably better off not eating or drinking it. sodas for example. have you ever read the ingredients lists on pop bottles and diet drinks? most regular pops contain corn syrup. *no* diet sodas contain corn syrup. at one point earlier in the year i cut out most of the foods that contained corn syrup and switched to diet sodas (preferred diet dr pepper, but that's just me) and i ended up losing 10 lbs from that alone.

whatever you do, good luck with the weight loss! :D

Howdy wanted to drop by and say Gl with meeting your goals
by looks of things you are off to a great start!I hope you feel
better soon,Tammy

This is how I did it and you can do it too

Hey there, I struggled at first but started to lose weight when I found this I lost 2 pounds in the first week and steadily continued. I learned that it is about replacing bad habits with new healthy habits that I can stick with, instead being on a "diet" or working out like grazy for one week. I

I think the most important thing you can do is to write down everything you eat and measure it. For example I thought I was eating healthy but I was eating too much carbs and way too much fat (50-70 grams when I should have kept it under 30 grams).

Educate yourself and learn to make healthy choices. I did it and you do it too...good luck, Matti

i lost 52 lbs !!

... eating more veggies and fruit, meat (no gravy !!) - i tried to keep fat very low as well as carbohydrates (no fries, just a little pasta or pizza once every 2 weeks), i drink lots of water w/o bubbles (at least half a gallon a day!) and:

i startet to move my ass on six days of the week. just walking in the beginning (cause i was too heavy and in too bad of a shape to do a/th else). slowly, i added some workout, a bit of swimming and lately i was even able to go jogging with a friend!!

it makes me soo happy, and it will make U happy, too!

Control often intake habbit -- that is having only breakfast, lunch, and dinner while doing something that will make you sweat. Anything that will make you sweat and something that you enjoy so you do it often.

There are tons of things to eat that are low carb, and wont increase your cholesterol. For example, egg whites (the yolk is high in cholesterol), shrimp, tuna, salmon, sole, and other seafood without batter, lean meats like beef (not ground beef) chicken breast, Turkey breast, and if you like it, moose meat, veggies, the greener the better. If you go on a low carb diet and eat things like bacon, hamburgers without the bun, hot dogs, sausage, pork chops, ect.... of course your cholesterol with sky rocket, but you can still eat low carb and very healthy lowering your cholesterol, blood pressure, and other health issues.

There are also many ways to eat these foods daily without getting bored of eating the same thing, you can use things like coriander, basil, garlic, lemon, and other spices to add flavor. I know many recipes if you want i can email them to you.

For example; today i had egg whites for breakfast, for lunch i had a chicken cesar salad, with grated low fat cheese, and no bacon, it filled me up and was filled with protein, vitamins, and was very tasty. For dinner I had a small piece of steak, with garlic lemon shrimp (made from scratch no marinade) a piece of chicken breast with spices of my choice, and a glass of water. I drank lots of water throughout the day and took my vitamins, and i also had some light snacks like a piece of ham with mustard on 1 piece of low carb bread, and some tomatoes covered in lemon, with a pinch of salt, and pepper...i looove lemon.

That meal plan for 1 day is EXTERMLY healthy, there are limited carbs, lots of protein, filled with your daily vitamins, and low in cholesteral.

Also I did some research on vitamins, calcium, and omgega 3 aid in weight loss, chromium surpresses appetite, and potassium is good for building muscle.

Im not hear to tell you that this is the best way to lose weight, or the the only way to do it. Its what i have been doing, and im seeing major results, with no cravings for bad food, more energy then ever, and also my skin is clearing up.
Hi:

Is the low carb diet based or follow the "zone" principles? I am new on this so my brother-in law lend me his copy of the book "Enter the Zone" by Barry Sears. I just skimed this book and it is not easy to understand.
