I came on here to read facts about some diet pills, not people spitting opinions about diet pills. I like diet and exercise, but CuriousKitty has a point, it IS time consuming and frustrating when you don't have a schedule that easily allows it. I do know that some diet pills are NOT a scam. Such as Ephedra when it first came out. I lost a frightening amount of weight taking this pill, it was not a scam, but it was also very dangerous, and I could have used some unbiased and un-sarcastic information (nol3afclover, Niles). It doesn't help to talk down to someone desperate to lose weight. It might be more helpful to assist them in fighting off the temptation by posting quick exercise tips instead that might compete with quick and easy pills.
So, CuriousKitty, first, thanks for the post... this was some of the most helpful information on the internet I've found... I've been having trouble with my weight, also due to the fact that I've not found time to exercise... but I do know of a QUICK easy exercise routine that helped me to lose alot and get in Fantastic shape a few years ago. I combined Pilates ab sequences (starting at 15 and adding 5 reps a week - no faster! or I wear myself out from impatience), the yoga lunge pose (as long as I could hold it on each leg), push ups (starting at five and going up each week) and cardio (until I was sweaty). That was it, short and simple, but CONSISTENT. This routine can as last long as you like. (It was the only time I would listen to my favorite music so the time would fly by). In the end I was so pleased with the results, I would end up on my gazelle for cardio for over an hour, I could feel my butt firming up as I was working out
Also, I ate alot of sliced strawberries (with sugar) for snacks and meals, alot of salad with shredded chicken in it, steak tips, and regular meals like sandwiches with a little bag of chips, good cereal, cheerios, - basically a normal but not huge meal regimen. I stuck with food that filled me up, rather than just was healthy, such as strawberries, plums, tomatoes - once you eat those, it's hard to eat anything else without feeling sick. I did cut out soda altogether and that was a big help. With this diet my energy level shot through the roof. I noticed it after a few weeks. Most important is to first throw out ALL the bad stuff, just throw it away, purposefully waste the money, and then fill the place with the stuff you plan to eat. Then, when you're hungry if all there is is cold turkey or chicken with mustard (a yummy snack), or sliced tomatoes sprinkled with a little salt (anther yummy snack), well then that's all you'll have to eat. No emergency snacks allowed, they become commonplace snacks ;-)
Now all this being said, it took a tough two weeks to make this a habit, and the exercise was more time - consuming than just taking a pill, like I did with the ephedra. I lost a frightening amount of weight on the ephedra, and I exercised alot less, but I also was always sick to my stomach, VERY shaky (my hands would shake non-stop) and I was very dehydrated. In the end though, the temptation remains to lose some weight quickly with a pill, thinking after a few pounds you can quit it and exercise will be easier. That doesn't happen. As soon as you stop taking the pill, the weight comes back on. Period. And I never stopped taking the pill, I was never thin enough, even when I was a size two, which is such a dangerous state of mind! (At the same time, as soon as I stopped my healthy diet and exercise regimen above, within a few months the pounds started coming back on as well, for all you diet pill haters
Good luck and don't fall to the temptation of the pills - save the money and get your hair done instead, or a new batch of fun makeup and then set a special day for your new exercise and eating plan kickoff - set the whole day aside for it, and make it fun
