Hello everyone, Im new here, I lurk around from time to time for ideas, but now Ive finally registered.
I've tried a couple of weight loss pills before and surprise surprise, no results. So far I havent been able to find very many reviews for this product but the very few that I have found have actually been good. I found 1 negitive review, but the reviewer didnt actually try the prodct they just said its probably a scam due to the bold promises it makes.
So Im curious about this product. Has anyone tried it? know someone whose tried it? How were the results?
Thanks :)

I'm sorry it's probably rhetorical at this point, but I'll ask anyway. You say you're tried several diet pills in the past with no results, so why is it you expect this one to be different? And have you attempted diet and an exercise regimen in the past?

There are no results. Let me let you in on a little diet pill secret...

Have you noticed that all diet pill commercials and ads tell you to take the pill as an addition to diet and exercise in small letters??? Thats because ANYTHING will work, when done with diet and exercise! Taking a trip to Las Vegas will help you lose weight if you're doing it in addition to proper diet and exercise! Sniffing your cousins smelly feet will help you lose weight if its associated with good diet and exercise! Diet pills is a lazy fake way to discourage weight loss, why? Cause most people who swallow pills, expect results without diet and exercise..No wonder...Be one of the smart guys and leave that stuff alone...

yeah, I've tried a few, but no big name ones or anything, just suppliments from the health food store... I just lead a really busy life I find that diet isnt much of a problem for me, I have no problem eating healthy or problems with portion control, but finding time for a proper workout is really rare. Im not super overweight either, I just find myself really tired when I do have some time to myself and the last thing I wanna do is go for a workout. It would be nice to find something that would make those few and far between excersiese more effective.
I just thought Id ask about this particular pill because after reading about it, I just thought it just seemed really different. The ingrediants are supposed to make you feel really good, like some sort of euphoric effect that is supposed to make you really happy and full of energy. So Im not looking for anyone to critique me about the nature of diet pills. Im just wondering if anyone has actaully tried this product. I figured there was no harm in asking.

I have not tried Fenphedra and I am happy to say I don´t know anyone stupid enough to try it.

Have you tried making a google search about Fenphedra? It seem to be just another "diet pill" scam.

They are way more expensive than joining a Health Club/gym. And one substance in them: neosynephrine has serious side effects (strokes, pulmonary embolism and it has become forbidden to use in most European countries.

Fenphedra (obviously the name is a combination of fenfluramine and ephedra) is sold online -- primarily on eBay. Although there's certainly nothing wrong with selling via eBay, how many big, respected name-brand companies are using this as their only marketing venue? Point is, some of the most nefarious retailers use eBay as a way to market their products while at the same time isolating themselves from their customers.

Fenphedra is also outrageously priced. Apparently, it retails for US$179 (where exactly, does it retail for this?) but can be had for the bargain price of $77. No refunds are offered, the web site claims, "to keep prices down."

Of course that makes me ask... if the retailer suspects the refund rate would be significant enough to affect Fenphedra's price, there must be a heck of a lot of people who would be returning it. Is it because the product does not live up to its claims? Is it because people would not get the benefits advertised? Otherwise, why would they return it?

And despite the claims of being "revolutionary", the Fenphedra compilation is actually quite ordinary, with the exception of Humulus Lupus -- which, despite its impressive sounding name, is nothing more than common "hops" -- yes, the stuff you make beer with. Humulus Lupus has antibacterial qualities, and the dried female buds have a high content of methylbutenol -- a natural alcohol that has sedating effects. Some small studies verify Humulus Lupus' ability for sedation, but according to the Natural Database...

"There is insufficient reliable information available about the effectiveness of hops."

And the rest of the compilation? Here's what you'll find...

1) Caffeine, a moderately effective thermogenic agent common to most fat burners on the market today.

2) Synephrine, derived from the citrus aurantium plant. Originally, this "chemical cousin of ephedra" was thought to hold great promise for weight loss. Unfortunately, research has not bourne this out. This excerpt from PubMed (Am J Cardiol. 2004 Nov 15;94(10):1359-61.) says it best...

"An extensive search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, and the Cochrane Collaboration Database identified only 1 eligible randomized placebo controlled trial, which followed 20 patients for 6 weeks, demonstrated no statistically significant benefit for weight loss, and provided limited information about the safety of the herb."

3) Chocamine™ and Phenylethylamine: Basically xanthines (caffeine-related compounds) derived from the cocoa plant. These ingredients are not new to fat burners. Phenylethylamine was included in Xenadrine's EFX fat burner for its ability to increase attention and activity (in animals) and relieve depression (Source:J Neuropsychiatry Clin Neurosci, 1996 Spr, 8:2, 168-71). Unfortunately, the FTC sued the makers of Xenadrine EFX for making false and unsubstantiated claims about the effectiveness of their product.

Bottom line -- cocoa related compounds are certainly interesting, but there's insufficient reliable data available to authoritatively claim they have any real benefit for weight loss.

In the end, there's very little of anything much in this product -- and certainly nothing that justifies the "30 lbs. in 30 days claim." And there are no clinical references, no referenced studies -- no evidence of any sort that this product does anything.

And of course, Fenphedra is marketed illegally via unsolicited bulk e-mail. So I highly recommend you give Fenphedra a wide berth.

So yet another scam to make money from overweight people who think there are easy quick-fix solutions to loose weight instead of doing some lifestyle changes that will be healthier in the long term. If you are lucky you will only loose your money and they will be ineffective. Or you may risk ending up in a nursing home, paralyzed from a stroke.

I definietly thought the selling on ebay part of it was kind of strange.
I didnt know about those side effects, that seems a little scary.

I guess the up side of ebay selling is that you can check feedback on a product that the ebay seller is selling mass amounts of.

Check out the feedback for this seller who mainly sells just this product:[link removed]

Its just one of those things that I've been mainly seeing positive things about, but it still seems way too good to be true.

Yes Ck and you know the saying: It it looks too god to be true ...it probably is not true.

The seller on Ebay gets so many positive feedbacks for his service( Shipment and being honest about delivering) the positive feedback does not mean they are positive about the product!

Do find a healthier way to loose those pounds that is more safe. :)

If you actually look through all the feedback, theres quite a lot that rave about the product too.
Its obvious that most of the people here are against diet pills for whatever reason.
I think I might give this product a try

Its obvious that most of the people here are against diet pills for whatever reason.

Reason being: the forum emphasizes healthy and safe ways to lose weight. (ie: exercise, sensible eating plan, etc. ) Anyone who's been battling weight issues know fad diets have a high percentage of gaining the weight plus some. Hey to each their own... see you around ... soon.

I came on here to read facts about some diet pills, not people spitting opinions about diet pills. I like diet and exercise, but CuriousKitty has a point, it IS time consuming and frustrating when you don't have a schedule that easily allows it. I do know that some diet pills are NOT a scam. Such as Ephedra when it first came out. I lost a frightening amount of weight taking this pill, it was not a scam, but it was also very dangerous, and I could have used some unbiased and un-sarcastic information (nol3afclover, Niles). It doesn't help to talk down to someone desperate to lose weight. It might be more helpful to assist them in fighting off the temptation by posting quick exercise tips instead that might compete with quick and easy pills.

So, CuriousKitty, first, thanks for the post... this was some of the most helpful information on the internet I've found... I've been having trouble with my weight, also due to the fact that I've not found time to exercise... but I do know of a QUICK easy exercise routine that helped me to lose alot and get in Fantastic shape a few years ago. I combined Pilates ab sequences (starting at 15 and adding 5 reps a week - no faster! or I wear myself out from impatience), the yoga lunge pose (as long as I could hold it on each leg), push ups (starting at five and going up each week) and cardio (until I was sweaty). That was it, short and simple, but CONSISTENT. This routine can as last long as you like. (It was the only time I would listen to my favorite music so the time would fly by). In the end I was so pleased with the results, I would end up on my gazelle for cardio for over an hour, I could feel my butt firming up as I was working out :)

Also, I ate alot of sliced strawberries (with sugar) for snacks and meals, alot of salad with shredded chicken in it, steak tips, and regular meals like sandwiches with a little bag of chips, good cereal, cheerios, - basically a normal but not huge meal regimen. I stuck with food that filled me up, rather than just was healthy, such as strawberries, plums, tomatoes - once you eat those, it's hard to eat anything else without feeling sick. I did cut out soda altogether and that was a big help. With this diet my energy level shot through the roof. I noticed it after a few weeks. Most important is to first throw out ALL the bad stuff, just throw it away, purposefully waste the money, and then fill the place with the stuff you plan to eat. Then, when you're hungry if all there is is cold turkey or chicken with mustard (a yummy snack), or sliced tomatoes sprinkled with a little salt (anther yummy snack), well then that's all you'll have to eat. No emergency snacks allowed, they become commonplace snacks ;-)

Now all this being said, it took a tough two weeks to make this a habit, and the exercise was more time - consuming than just taking a pill, like I did with the ephedra. I lost a frightening amount of weight on the ephedra, and I exercised alot less, but I also was always sick to my stomach, VERY shaky (my hands would shake non-stop) and I was very dehydrated. In the end though, the temptation remains to lose some weight quickly with a pill, thinking after a few pounds you can quit it and exercise will be easier. That doesn't happen. As soon as you stop taking the pill, the weight comes back on. Period. And I never stopped taking the pill, I was never thin enough, even when I was a size two, which is such a dangerous state of mind! (At the same time, as soon as I stopped my healthy diet and exercise regimen above, within a few months the pounds started coming back on as well, for all you diet pill haters :)

Good luck and don't fall to the temptation of the pills - save the money and get your hair done instead, or a new batch of fun makeup and then set a special day for your new exercise and eating plan kickoff - set the whole day aside for it, and make it fun :)

Re: has anyone tried Fenphedra

Thanks, MelanieDT - very helpful! I too lost a dramatic amount of weight with ephedra a few years ago and (after my state made it illegal) I gained much off the weight back when I stopped taking it. It gave me a tremendous amount of energy and I had a very small appetite. Because it was so successful in helping me achieve and exceed my weight loss goal, I think I've been looking for something like it ever since.

I actually came on this website searching opinions on Fenphedra and followed the link to CuriousKitty's post. I've been looking for another diet aid to help give me more energy and motivation and was intrigued by the euphoric effects the pill claims to give you. I was hoping someone might have an opinion or experience with it, but I was dissapointed by the reaction by everyone... Except for you, MelanieDT.

You gave some very good and logical advice. I really don't want to pay for expensive diet pills that might work, but end up causing me to gain the weight back (and lose that euphoric feeling) when I stop taking them. I really do believe that motivation and getting in shape is almost entirely mental. You really have to make a conscious effort to eat right and exercise and believe that you are doing great things for your body. I think that most diet pills are mental as well. If you really believe it will help you lose weight, then you will consciously make that effort to eat less and workout more.

So, while I'm sure Fenphedra has some special ingredients to help with short term weight loss... I think we would all be better off believing in ourselves to achieve our weight loss goals and maintain a healthy body in the long term. And leave that euphoric feeling to the endorphins experienced through exercise.

Hi! Glad to help!

Hi MoTvated,

Thanks! I'm glad my post is helpful. I think that from what I've read of Fenphedra, I would take something else. I think Slimquick has a product - Xtreme or something - that has good reviews on Amazon - again only in conjunction with an exercise program and healthy diet.

I enrolled just to comment on this thread...no I have not tried the product, but I want to protest everyone that says diet pills dont work. There was one that worked and I am on a quest to find its equal. I took ANOREX, from klein-becker, or whatever the company is and it worked! The original formula has been taken off the market however. They have an SF formula which I dont want to waste my money on trying. I was not "significantly overweight" as they recommended I should be to use their product. I was 170 and within 60 days I was back down to 140. I stopped taking th e pill and I kept the weight off for 3 years, then I had a baby, gained 40 pounds, lost 20, got pregnant, had a miscarriage, got pregnant again, gained 60 pounds, had a c-section and here I am back at 170. I'm done having kids and would kill to have my pre-baby body back and a bottle of that original Anorex. Whatever was in it worked for me, I didnt have a heart attack or die and I am in perfect health right now except for the current extra baggage.

...

I strongly disagree with most of the people on here. I have always, since I was a child, had serious trouble with my weight. No amount of diet and exercise worked for me. The only time that I lost weight, without pills was when I turned to anorexia, and I'm not trying to encourage that life style by any means. On the other hand, using diet supplements has been a HUGE help in getting my weight down. I can look at an apple and gain 5 lbs. And yes, I power walk for 1 1/2 hours at least 4 times a week, and compliment it with pilates, but I take a supplement to give me the boost I need. I'm not sure if Fenphedra WORKS, but it never hurts to try. I wouldn't recommend keeping it apart of your diet for more than 2 months and then get off of it for 2. When you've reached your goal, find the right combination of foods, for you, that will help you maintain your desired weight. I've had 2 kids, I'm 26, and keeping it off is so much harder when you go it alone. Find a friend who is willing to workout with you, and you'll both be empowered to go much farther than either one of you thought. Best of luck.

yeah, no heart attack here either :) I don't think I know anyone who's had a bad experience with'em. For the love of God, my mom use to take white crosses back in the day, she 50 and healthier than most people younger than her. The "man" only tells you what they want you to believe. There's no safe drugs, just good ones and duds:)

Guess I'll see

It is nice to know I am not the only one who came to this forum seeking knowledge if ANYONE HAS TRIED FENPHEDRA. But I am disappointed. I appreciate the comments, suggestions, and of course the warnings. BUT I was hoping to read comments from someone who actually tried the pill. I am currently using the ALLI product in conjunction w/my regular exercise program. Where I was losing a pound or two a week with the pill I have lost seven to ten a week. BUT the side effect (trying to find the delicate way to put it) of bathroom visits is managable IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING INTO YOUR MOUTH. And for me that has been the bigger benefit of using th ALLI. Before I decided to use the ALLI I did my research, as I am w/Fenphedra. There was lots of negative comments and off handed remarks about the product. For every positive statement I could find equal number of negative comments. What sold me was a real live person who used the product share their thoughts and comments. So... to all who are thinking of using Fenphedra... I have ordered the product and will be sharing my personal experience with this product. Guess stay tuned if you wanna know.

Fenphedra

I just recently purchased some. I am 45 and going through menopause. I have progressively been gaining weight for the past 4 years. I diet, exercise and continue to gain weight. I am now up to 230 and can't take anymore. I have tried every natural metabolism booster and nothing works. So I am off and running tomorrow with Fenphedra. I will continue to exercise and eat well and feel if this does not work, than maybe I have some kind of disease... Is there anyone going through meno and can't get any weight off???? I am desperate for advice.... I cannot stand being so FAT!!

CarolIrene

I am with you, I am also trying Fenphedra and will let you know how it goes..ie side effects plus and minus'

In my quest I did find this anortix sounds like what you took before I have no idea if it works.

Has your doctor tested your thyroid?
Talked you aboutany kind of Hormone Replacement Therapy?

What did he/she say when you were given the scrip for the pill?
