harry potter

I get why they leave stuff out, they have to. And it's probably a very tough decision for them to decide what's important enough to the flow of the story to keep in, and what can be ditched.

What I don't get is the stuff they change for no reason. Like a character says something in the book, but in the movie someone else says it. Little things, that make no difference. Why bother changing it?

"It-tay---Bit-tay---little----potter" heehee, I've been saying it for hours now!

Helena Bonham Carter was fantastic, so was Evanna Lynch!

I loved Sirius!!!

Yeah, go into the movie without any thought of the book and you'll like the movie.

i`m really excited too. told you i was a big kid. mind you i think alan rickman - (prof snape) is the best, so i hope he has a bit of screen time slim

I do agree. They cast Snape perfectly. He was exactly what I had in mind for him! :D

I do love snape, too. My main question in the next book coming out still is not whether harry lives or dies, but if snape is good or evil.

One of the reviews I read stated about snape that he must not have realized he was cast as a good guy in this movie. I was just thinking, had this reviewer not read any of the books? It is obvious from the books, AND from the movies, that snape's goodness or evilness is not confirmed.

How many more days till the book is out?

the books out on the 21st @00.01hrs, if you fancy queuing at your local bookshop. i prefer the comfort of my bed and am hoping it will drop through my door nice and early curtesy of amazon.
i will be sad if harry dies, i must admit to blubbering a bit at dumbledores funeral. i think its a credit to jkr`s writing that we get so involved in the stories and characters. however im with notme in that im more interested in what happens to snape. i dont think he will dare approach the order as they will kill on sight i think. so if he is a goody i think he will have to work alone/secretly.also he has made an unbreakable vow to narcissa to protect dracoy. whats going to happen there? if dracoy dies so does he, so hes going to go into hiding at least to begin with in my opinion. try reading some of the editorials on mugglenet, particularly the underground lake and spinners end. some interesting predictions, probably wrong, but food for thought at least. slim

well ive just come back from watching hp and the oop and i really enjoyed it, probably the best one of all the movies .there were lots of bits missed out from the book, some things they put in i felt were not so important and vice versa.also i felt sirius`s death kind of happened too quickly, but i liked the way he went into the veil.
i thought imelda staunton (umbridge) was brilliant. sickly sweet yet vicious. got her just desserts at the end though, ha. also the girl who played luna was excellent.
when it finished the audience gave a round of applause, something i havent seen for a long time. i would certainly recommend it especially if you can ignore the differences from the book etc. snape had a few good scenes also.roll on next saturday and the deathly hallows. slim

So glad I found this thread! I LOVE HP! I thought I was only of few adults who do, so it's nice to see that isn't the truth. I haven't seen OOTP movie yet, but mainly because I'm waiting for the theater to be less crowded since I already know what happens. Possibly will go this weekend. I love the books AND the movies. The movies are of course shorter, but if you take them as a movie based on the book, it's not disappointing at all. I think they're great!

I, too, have preordered a copy of the last book (from Barnes & Noble) and I sure as heck hope it arrives on July 21st, otherwise I won't be able to turn the tv, radio, or internet on! I HATE SPOILERS!

It's disappointing this will be the last book, but you can only go so far before it would get old.

YippieKayYayy, you are not alone. some of my friends think im nuts, but im addicted to hp, particularly the books. mind you i think i have a thing with baddies. i love the movie snape(alan rickman) and even lucius malfoy (jason isaacs) even though we know he - malfoy - is 100% evil.
i dont want harry to die and i certainly dont want snape to die. i am hoping my copy of the book comes through saturday also. if it doesnt i am locking myself away from the world and work and sulk. slim

I'm requesting spoilers now of the book :).

Of course, if someone posts spoilers please post them in white text so only those of us who want to see them do. (Highlight to read the text).

I wont have the book right away, didn't preorder. I'll probably have it within a week of it being out, though with my test coming up, I should wait to buy it so I can study without interruption :).

notme the books not out till saturday, but if you want me to let you know what happens or any clues, i will ,probably sunday. do i just type in white like thisslim

Yep, just like that. It's still "readable" but barely :).

My husband told me one of the guys on the WoW site said who dies, but I don't know if his info is accurate. He also didn't know if Snape was good or evil. I need to know!!!

Please don't shoot me, but I have never read nor seen anything HP. lol
It sounds like something I'd be interested in though for sure. So what's the first book? I'd like to start reading them in sequence.

My daughter picked up a copy Saturday morning in a shop - the price varies greatly from store to store! We were on the London Tube, and I had to smile, watching all of the people thumbing through their new copies - like a race to see who could read fastest! My daughter went straight to the back to read the ending! She always does that - but shes flying through the chapters now ... and she should be sleeping.
