harry potter

Notme... omgosh! That's great! I love it! :D

And I know what you mean about the ending being spoiled. I am part of fanfic.com and I got a "story alert" with the title, "Tribute to xxxxx"... and I knew... oh man, was I upset! Then, my little brother came into my room, saw that, and shouted it to the whole house. Needless to say, he wasn't very popular for a few days...:D

And I agree, mass rioting will be induced by the death of Harry. J.K had better not if she has any sense of self preservation from die hard fans! :D lol.

`fraid the diarrhoea thing wont work for me. my boss would say take an immodium and come on in were short staffed. i work as a nurse as well - with the vulnerable elderly:eek: .i`d have to be a bit more inventive. if i start the book when it comes (hopefully early), read it all day and let the family fend for themselves, may even finish it by the time i have to go to work

Slimby, I know what you mean. My former job was food service where I pulled the diarrhea trick. Now I work as a CNA till I get my licence to practice as a PTA. They'd probably tell me to come in as well and take tons of pepto. Heck, they'd probably even pay for the pepto or immodium! I hope you're able to finish it quickly!

Sorry for resurrecting a dead thread, but I gotta chime in!

Snape: I'm on the fence about him, on one hand, if you read really carefully into the characters and the dialog just before he killed, it's possible the two may have discussed it earlier as a 'what if' situation. I mean, could you imagine ____ under imperius?? He could cause some serious damage. It's possible he could resist, but you never know.

Preorder: My sister preordered it for my mom for mother's day, but I may just end up buying it myself since my mom is SUCH a slow reader! Then again, maybe I'll be patient and wait for the box set to come out.

Time of work: Luckily I'm in retail, and can book time off in advance, no worries about calling in sick. I don't get paid for those days off, but I don't have to worry about creative lies either ;) Though once my husband told me that if you take a BIG whiff of vinegar, within about a minute your nose stuffs up enough to impair your speech and give you a cold-lisp.

Edit: And speaking of fan-fics, I remember in high school (dang that was a long time ago) a friend and I wrote a psuedo-fic about a north american wizardry school. Of course we were the stars (who isn't when they write fics at 16?) , but we had Neville's cousin as a tie-in (and Neville as a minor character later), and set of magic based on native american lore (since we figured N.A. magic probably developed a lot differently than european). I wish I could dig it up and reread it :)

The thread's not dead, it's in hibernation while we wait for the book :).

I never thought that maybe xxxxxx and Snape talked before hand about the possibility of his death. Maybe if it came down to it, he'd rather be killed by snape than have snape under suspicion?

Definitely points to ponder.

books to long???I don't think so I love them! I am sad to think that this is it! I understand that all good things must come to an end and that harry can't go on forever but I can still be sad to see the end draw near. My kids cant wait for the nemovie next month because we always go to the drive in to see harry so they are counting down the days until it opens and they can have an excuse for throwing popcorn around inside the family van!

im getting all excited about the book and the movie. i will be waiting for the postie on the 21st camped out by the door.
as for the books being too long. they arnt long enough i think. sometimes if i have read a really good book i get quite sad at the end cos i know ive finished, if you know what i mean.
i rarely go to the movies and when i do its normally the local flea pit as its cheap. but when the new hp movies come out we always go to the big cinema. this time ive said to the kids if i can put a little money back ill treat them to a meal in a new restaurant thats just opened near the cinema before going to see the film. i think i am more excited than them so i hope im not disappointed. slim

I'm going to cry when I get my book...it comes out two days before my 18th birthday, and I've been reading them since I was in the fourth grade...I'm going to be very upset if who I think dies really does die.

Snape is evil. He is on Voldemort's side. I found out via someone anyway ...

it sucks, but true. I just thought he was going to be some ill informed giant of a teacher who just like to picks on kids, but nope. He is all evil. I forget what they said about Harry and Snape. I know Harry and Snape go at it in the final book, but I forget the outcome. Oh to wait for the money to by the books ..ahhh

I've read that someone "hacked" into some computer and got the details of the book. Well, it could be true. It could be hype to sell more books.

Either way, I'll buy the darn thing right away :). I think the length is okay for someone my age, but for the audience I feel they were origionally for, I think they're too long. My nine year old had a great time with the first couple. Then the really long one came out and she struggled through the book.

I'm an addict for the last 8 years... I'm not happy about the book coming out, I feel really sad, it's the last one... I'm afraid to read it... I'm afraid about turning the last page of it... How can smt so beautiful end? Thank you J.K.Rowling for bringing to this world, another world, the most beautiful and magical world

i couldn't agree with you more wind...i'm also sorry it ends...but i can't wait to read it hehe. i just love those books.

I can't wait to see what finally happens!!! I'm so freakin' excited!!! Anyone have any HP theories? Anyone else go onto HP sites?

yeh, the leaky cauldron and mugglenet usually. not to post, just browse. also j k rowlings own site.slim
ps just found out the us version of hp and the deathly hallows has more pages than the uk version ??? any ideas, more pictures, bigger type.???

They probably took out all the big words for us americans ;). Then they had to replace all the big words with five or six little words for the same meaning as the one word.

And I, for one, sure could use bigger print!

Hehe, I'm american so I can make fun of my country, right?

You know what? I was totally thinking the same thing! It's rather depressing though, to think about the fact that as a whole, the country's "smartness level" is going down.. or at least it appears that way to me in school... and in other places... seriously, I had an ADULT say that she didn't know what the Revolutionary War was...I kinda did this...:eek2: lol

Ok, I went to the midnight showing last night of HP, OOTP. here's my critque...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was a movie full of lose ends and fast paced plot set ups. If a person has read the book, and expects to see certain obvious parts from the book in the moive, don't. Much of the book is left out, and there are major changes to what actually did happen. We are sped through the entire year at hogwarts without a chance to really stop and get our bearings.

If you enjoy the movies, then this one is a rather good one of the 5 that have come out so far. But, even for having a different director, it still has the same feel as the last 4, so one can assume that J.K. Rowling still has the reins in the making of the films. Though, if you are a fan of the book, then I would almost suggest that you do not go and see it.

i have already got my tickets for friday - at £10 for all of us its a bargain. as far as im concerned really all of the films (with the exception of the first, cos i hadnt read any of the books then) were a let down compared to the books (apart from the special effects which are great i think). my o/h hasnt read any of them and he usually gets a bit confused and disappointed when watching them and i spend half the time trying to fill in the gaps.
from what you say xorie, this film will be the same. i guess its a night out, some popcorn etc in any case. plus it will break up the wait until book 7 drops on my mat. i have just re read a couple of the books and at present am lurking on mugglenet, reading some of the "predictions" .
i also gather that jk rowling does have a say in what goes into the movies, cast etc which can only be a good thing.they would probably change an awful lot more if it wasnt so. slim
