am i just a big kid or is anyone else looking forward to the new harry potter book out in july.i have read all of them and cant wait to find out what happens in the last book. will harry or voldemort die and is snape good or evil (i hope he turns out good, i love alan rickman in the movies)
the reason i posted this was i have just pre ordered the book on amazon and am getting quite excited :jump: slim

When you get it, give me the whole scoop. I'll read it anyway, probably a couple times in a row, but I NEED to know!!! I don't have mine pre-ordered so likely I'll have to wait a week after it comes out just to get my hands on a copy.

I preordered HP 5 from Amazon for my daughter when it was due to come out. It took ages to arrive, and all of her friends had / were reading copies bought in shops, by the time that it had arrived. We wait for them to arrive in the local shops now.

notme i will let you know - if you want. wont be for a while yet though. i have had no problems with amazon direct, only once from a private seller via amazon. took weeks and they didnt have the courtesy to even answer my emails. i preordered the last hp from them and it arrived early morning on the release day. saves queuing up at midnight. gotta read it early otherwise someone will spoil it and tell me the ending.slim

Snape is evil. End of story. :D

And I can't wait for the book. And the movie. I've never been a big fan of the movies, but just for thrills, i'm going to stand in line for 3 hours and see it at midnight! :D I can't wait.

I'm casting my vote for snape is good! Or at least even if he isn't good, I think in some way he will help harry defeat voldemort.

He killed -----...and you still think he's good? *in Ron's voice* "You need to sort out your priorities." :D

But, we'll see.:D

I know he killed xxxxx, BUT... there's a chance! Maybe he just didn't like the guy or maybe he had other reasons. Or who knows, maybe he was the one who took the thing from the thing that the guy and harry went to and wasnt there. It obviously wasn't harry who took it, so there is SOMEONE who knows where Voldemort keeps his... *stuff*. It could be snape. And maybe by not killing *ahem*, he would have been found out and unable to get the other pieces.

Sincerly,
Holding out hope in WI ;).

i know he killed xxxxxxx too. but possibly there was a reason for it, which we wont find out till the last book.i still want to see snape turn out good. as long as voldemort is defeated and harry survives.
i must admit apart from the 1st film the rest have been a bit of a disappointment. the special effects are just brilliant, but because the books are too long to make into a film they cut big chunks out. if you havent read the books it can be hard to follow as my o/h can testify. they should have made longer movies and split them in 2. saying that i will be going to see the
5th one in july. soon as it comes out hopefully. slim

At first, I was really frustrated with the length of the books after the second one. A family member asked what my daughter wanted for christmas, and I said the harry potter series. I was definitely not expecting the length! I didn't even read them until the 6th one came out, so I wasn't disappointed with the movies :). I was frustrated about the length of the books because they seemed to me to be for kids, or at least the 12-16 age range. I don't see many kids that age reading books that long. My daughter is on book 5. She's been working on that book for longer than I can remember!

However, I really enjoyed the books ;). THey really should have been my christmas present and gotten something more appropriate for my daughter. After reading the books, and rewatching the movies, I do see big missing chunks. Overall, the movies flow okay, but they need to be excessively long just to cover the important topics. I'd rather have had a 10 book series with smaller books (mostly for my kid ;) )

Slimby, I'm taking that as a second vote for Snape being good?

what I like about the books however, is that as the story progresses, the age of the writing becomes older as harry does. It's a rather interesting style of writing.

and I still think Snapes bad. :D I'm not gonna budge on this one. And i can't wait for the movie, even though the last few have been short of my expectations, especially the third one, but i'm even more excited for the 7th book. I'm going to go out and buy my copy as soon as I can! And trust me, i'll finish it in one day, because I won't be able to put it down!

Ahhh... my all-time favourite topic. Even my username Lily_Windsor is actually my Harry Potter ater-ego, as in I originally created my character Lily Windsor for HP RPG, HP fanfic and HP anything really. So, yes, massive fan here.

I normally go to the midnight book releases all dressed up, but this year i'm going to be working at a US summer camp (leaving in 17 days!), so although excited that i'll be in the States, i'm pretty disappointed that i'm going to miss the book 7 release parties! And the Ootp Premiere too! I'm always one of those screaming fan girls (i'm 22) that stands outside Leicster Square Odeon for hours waiting for the stars to arrive!

I don't think Snape is good - as in, he isn't a good person. Like Harry, I despise him. But i'm willing to entertain the possibility that he's working for the Order. That being said, I still like to believe he's an evil, Death Eater slime ball, and for ages I was convinced he was.

But when I read Mugglenet.com's Book 7 Theories book, they presented a brilliant argument for both sides. And I have to say that there does seem to be more evidence that he was working for the Order than vice-versa. But still, I hope he's a DE so that I can spend the rest of my life justified in hating him!

I can't wait for the new book. My oldest dtr and I will be at the stores at midnight yet again. We will read and do nothing else except yell back and forth at each other, can you believe that? etc of events in the book. In fact I am going to start rereading the books this weekend to have everything refreshed for the 7th. I am also saddened there won't be more since this has been my ultimate favorite series of books/characters.

I am also going to vote for Snape being good. How can he not be?? I love Harry Potter even more than my kids and I am proud to admit it to anyone who will listen!! I own the books and the movies and I am also waiting anxiously for the last book and/or movie which ever I can get to first!:)

Oh sweet! More HP fans! :] I'm so excited about the new book I'm reading through the old ones right now to keep my mind fresh.

I dunno about the movie though. The last one wasn't great. Like they rushed it and missed soooo much from the book. Dissapointing.

Hmm... Snape... I have no idea! He's an amazingly talented double-agent though, isn't he? I bet he'll chose good b/c evil is going down! haha!

Oh, as for ultimate show-down... I wouldn't be surprised if Voldemort is killed off, but evil will survive to some extent. Heh- it always does.

Vote on harry potter, lives or dies? If he dies, I think he'll die killing voldemort. If he lives, I wont be mad at the author ;). I think there will be mass rioting if harry dies though.

snape is innocent!!!
as far as the who will die debate goes, who knows. j k rowling likes to keep us guessing and i bet the last book will be full of unexpected twists and turns. i think there will be a lot of very upset people if she kills off harry, but shes already killed off a couple of major "good" characters unexpectedly and this will be the last book so....
i really must stop myself turning to the back of the book when i get it and avoid the internet until im done. my o/h and the kids have threatened to tell me the ending. so reminder to self. get up early on the 20th july to get to the door before anyone else. slim

I really hate people who spoil the ending of a book:mad: I had to wait about two weeks befre starting the last one when it came out and a friend said "oh wasn't that sad in the end when Snape killed xxxxx" I could have killed her. It is like movies if you know someone hasn't seen it don't tell them the plot line it really ruins it. I don't think I will talk to anyone or even leave my house until I finish the last book:rolleyes: Do you think I can get away with that?!! I don't think my boss will undertand:D but hey it is worth a try!!

Dragon lover, call in and say you have diarrhea. You dont need to sound sick, and NO ONE will question it. I've done that ;). I called and said to my boss, "I cant make it in today". him "why", me "it's really embarrassing, I'd rather if you just told everyone I was throwing up and really sick, but I have bad diarrhea". Him *laughes* "sorry to hear that, I wont mention the reason, eat some toast and try to be in tomorrow".

Works every time. You can get even two days in a row that way... and of course you cant do it unless you're desperate. I've only done this twice in 12 years.

So, don't tell your boss you're staying home to read harry potter ;). Just tell him (or her) that it's diarrhea.
